Get Ready for the Obama/GOP Alliance

Commented Nov 28, 2009 at 08:22:25 in Politics

“Yes there are issues I don't agree with, but I don't think he "rolled over". We are not privy to inside details which makes a difference. He has a very difficult job and I see him trying to bring the country together. Isn't the overall good of the country instead of party politics be the goal?”

“But don't forget how amoral the American mob is. They love the John Dillingers of the world. So what's wrong with being a woman "rogue"? Part of what makes the mob so dumb is their mindless vanity that thinks the rogue is somehow on "their" side. It worked for Hitler, why not for Palin?”

“I can certainly understand your frustration and agree to a point. While I haven't understood all the moves our Pres has made, our country did not go over the cliff and for that I am eternally grateful to the man. He has made tremendous progress considering everything he has had to battle in such a short time. No we are far from perfect, but I will certainly continue to support him and his decisions...what's the alternative, more of the same of what got us here????? We have a Pres playing chess while the other team is playing checkers - never to going backwards!”

“there isn't much of an alternative. neither party represents the interests of mainstreet America - hence the point of Mr Elks article.

Ideally a new or third party might be the ticket - but the game is stacked so against this it isn't even funny, and most existing third parties are the bastions of fringes and lack credibility

The only alternative people on the ground have is anti-incumbancy regardless of party - keep voting out the bums till we get some better bums”

“I don't know what country you are describing, but I got sick in France and that hardly describes my care. I haven't been to Canada, maybe fellow Canadians can describe their hospital situation there. We are in a health care crisis, people are dying for lack of care because they were dropped from their insurance, the spiraling cost of for profit insurance is going through the roof and in a few years, NO ONE will be able to afford the premiums. Even now, some Americans are paying more for health care than their mortgages, with no end in sight without health care reform. Competition will keep the for profits in check, and the public option will give those who were dropped a place to go for care. Public option is a CHOICE. The way for profits operate, it's highly possible you and I will be cancelled and fortunately for Pres Obama, we will have a place to go.”

“I am Canadian and I can tell you I will never trade our health care for the American System. I have been seriously ill 3 times and have been hospitalized on 2 occasions for major surgery which I would never have been able to afford if I were American and besides my preexisting condition would have prevented me from obtaining insurance coverage. I chose my own doctor and as a matter of fact I am about to change my doctor because I have moved across the city and the distance to travel to see my doctor takes too long. My medical records will be transferred to my new doctor.
I do not understand the bruhaha in the U.S about health care. You are the only industrialized country that do not help your fellow citizens who are ill. What is the matter with you?”

The Public Option Is Not Where You Draw the Line

Commented Oct 20, 2009 at 12:41:25 in Politics

“Some rights are very uptight with the hype and afraid of loosing their doctors or not being able to choose. Whatever should be a choice. Yes, when chatting with our friends across the pond, they did not start out with what they have now - it evolved and yes it sounds pretty good! Hopefully ours will evolve too once people see it's a good thing and saves money in the long run. In addition to caps, not refusing care for pre-existing conditions, etc., healthcare should not be tied to employment (yes, Medicare for all - single payer!).”
