A New Wrinkle in the JFK Assassination Story

“The only thing this shows is that Pres. Johnson was a human being affected by a terrible act who needed to get a release of emotion and fear out of his system before dealing with the burden that he had now been handed. In 46 years has the world grown as callous as to try to ridicule a man for being human??”

“The nub of the story is not LBJ's emotionalism. The nub of the story is his belief that the JFK _assassination was the result of a _conspiracy. You would think he'd be in a position to know. And at least he was honest about it in contrast to most of the people involved in the investigation.”

Obama Throws Gov. Paterson Under the Bus

“"But right now, we have as much cause to worry about the President's priorities as the governor's shortcomings."
Wrong. Obama as the President IS the real leader of the Democratic Party. He does need to make sure that the Governorship of one of the largest states remains in Democratic hands and does not revert back to the Republicans. Paterson has been a disaster. Yes he was thrust into a position without warning, but instead of showing much needed leadership he has allowed the state to drift without any idea from its citizens as to where it heading on any issue. Obama wants to make sure that the Democrats don't lose what it has taken them so long to obtain.”

“Unfortunately, but fortunate for the right wing, most on the left are far too decent to stoop to the same level and therefore they WILL get away with it.
The right wing philosophy is and always has been, the ends justify the means. Therefore negative attack ads, lies to push their ideology, and the willingness to compromise one's personal ethics to further the so-called conservative agenda almost always come from the right.
The left needs to get a little more ruthless and fight back instead of trying to wonder why we can't all just get along. Do you honestly think that if the Republicans had the majority in both houses that the Democrats do today that there would be a single piece of unpassed legislation that they were sponsoring?”

“While it may be true that TARP was passed under Bush, the Obama Administration went out of its way to stop any caps on the salaries and bounces of Wall Street. The public started to loss confidence with Obama with his appointment of Geithner. Why pick an insider especially one who conveniently forgot to pay his taxes by “mistake” as the face of your economic recovery team. This is looked at as the height of hubris by those who are looking to you to be on “Their side"”
Why the Right is Winning Its War Against Obama
Commented Aug 15, 2009 at 19:05:24 in Politics
“One of the biggest problems is that Obama doesn't seem to understand the lessons learned from the 2004 Presidential race. Kerry lost because the Repubs were allowed to spread their lies about him without any major push back until the damage was done. The same is true of Obama and his administration. Instead of immediately and forcefully calling out the lies at the top of their lungs they lay back until the Right has a stranglehold on the debate before any real push back. By that time it's already too late the most servere damage has already been done. I think the blame has to be laid at the feet of those advising him. It was said that Kennedy had the “Best and the Brightest" Obama seems to have the "Mediocre and the Dimmest" people advising him. Just look at the Bank bailout detachable. Were they so blind and deaf to think that giving billions to the Banks because they were too big to fall, and then have the banks give billions in bonuses to the very people who destroyed the banks, would really sit well with the average American struggling to stay afloat ? The constant kissing up to the Right is another problem. Bills that would have really helped the average American were and are gutted to appease the Republicans who then refuse to vote for them anyway. Obama needs to regain that “Fierce sense of urgency” and go back to being the man we had hope in.”

“I agree with you, except for one thing. The bank bailout or TARP was PASSED UNDER THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION, hellllllooooo. Why do you think it was so industry friendly. I have the same trepidations about the Obama Administration. They seem to be appeasing the loser Republicans, while ignoring or taking for granted the moderate/liberal branch of the party. Now, it looks like the public option is headed for some wishy washy co-operative program. The Republicans will fight this too, unless, like the credit card industry, each individual state will be permitted to establish and enforce its own level of consumer protection. The credit card companies get away with murder because they require customers when they sign up to accept the weaker protection of states like South Dakota, Virginia, and Delaware, vs. strong consumer states like California or New York. In other words, insurance companies will continue to rob customers, deny coverage, etc. UNLESS THERE IS A NATIONAL STANDARD that all companies selling insurance products in this country are required to follow.”

“Back in the 60's I studied with Merce in his studio on the corner of 14th St. and 6th Ave., upstairs. He was the sweetest, gentlest teacher I ever had, and by far the most interesting. I loved him truly. At one point I was told by a friend that I was being considered as a member of the company, but he chose Valda Setterfield instead, a decision I totally agreed with. She was much better on stage than I ever was. I did, however, make the basic leotards for Variations VII.
Merce's dances were incredibly beautiful. My favorites were "Sounddance" and "Rainforest." They were a little difficult for the audiences of that time, which was just fine with us fans. As soon as the un-hip cleared out, those of us at the rear or in the balcony streamed out and filled their prime seats. What a time it was!

Along with hearing of the near demise of NYCB, it saddens me to see that the last part of NYC07's post is all too many times true. My oldest is a struggling dancer now, and she at the tender age of 22 sees the slip into mediocrity. I pray (and work) for us to pull ourselves out of that pit of mediocrity.”
