CNN 4th For Week In Total Viewers For First Time Ever
Commented Dec 15, 2009 at 14:54:26 in Media
“There are several reason for this.
1. People don't want Fox-lite. They can get the real thing at Fox News.
2. HLN is more current in it's reporting. I've seen stories on MSNBC, HLN, and even on Huffington Post that don't get reported on CNN until a few days later. So annoying to catch Wolf Blitzer doing a story (presented as new or breaking) that I'm certain I heard two days before. CNN always seems to trail other networks in covering stories.
3. Due to being Fox News-Lite those looking for news from information from another angle will go to MSNBC. Not a skewing of facts but certain stations will cover some things and not others.
4. Not everything is 50/50. They try to cut everything down the middle but that isn't being objective. That's skewing the facts.
5. CNN tries to do to many "specials" on topics during the day instead of simply reporting the news and events. Perhaps they should actually read what is on the scroll instead and their ratings might go up.”

Israel: British Arrest Warrant For Tzipi Livni Threatens Ties

“Israel is all talk. They are not about to break ties with Britain. Everyone knows that. I'd like to see them actually do it though. Would be interesting to see what happens. Britain doesn't need Israel at all and might actually benefit from the cut in ties, you never know.. Israel on the other hand however does need ties with countries outside of their area. If they want to bite one of the ones giving them a helping hand let them. Let them burn their bridges and see what it gets them.”

“How so? If he's talking about President Obama don't forget there is a primary in 2011. If he still wins he doesn't have to vote for President Obama and I'm assuming he won't vote Republican either. There will be 3rd party candidates on the ballot. Or one could simply not vote for President. I know full well that when the choice comes if there is some one else in the primary they are getting my vote not President Obama. If come the general election I'm voting 3rd party.
If he's talking about Rahm, if he returns to elected office he could then vote against him without any issue.”

“Very simple in the end. The PGA knows full well who the big draw is. They want Tiger Woods back playing and anyone that hurts that is expendable. Anyone related to golf most likely knows this. I wonder when networks were covering this if they took the ratings drop they were going to get into account. They like to build people up and then knock them down as soon as they can. However in this case they would be directly hurting themselves if they happen to air golf.”

“I really have issue with that. I don't doubt there are loopholes in the bill to allow companies to still drop people based on those items. All the bill does for sure is make people buy it, giving companies even more profits since they will continue to deny coverage.
The best thing for them to do is to drop this things. Do one bill that deals with pre-existing conditions, etc and just that. Then do another one that drops the age limit on Medicare to the 50s. Then later they can drop it again to the 40s, etc. Each time they propose a drop the CBO will show that more people buying into it early and paying for it makes it better, financially sound and there is no way people can be against it.”

“At the moment this is just one massive give away to the insurance companies. There is nothing it seems to stop them from doubling the price one has to pay any time they want. People will be forced to buy insurance as well without any option to buy from some other organization that is not apart of the insurance company group. The two major things that would bring down cost, and give people a fair shake are now gone. What is left is a bill that ensures insurance companies will continue to have record profits. It's most likely filled with loopholes that allow them to continue to deny coverage and to drop people. This isn't health care reform. This isn't even insurance reform. They are still exempt from anti-trust rules.
It would be better to kill this thing now then to let it pass. Insurance companies will end up benefiting the most from this bill.”

“Why? Am I wrong in thinking he has done more for the corporations instead of the American people? Where is all the money going if not the corporations? He can say whatever he wants to the companies but it's his actions that matter and he's saying one thing but supporting something else. I don't believe in blind loyalty. I will never vote Republican on the national stage but I most certainly won't be voting for President Obama the next go around if he keeps with putting companies first and American citizens dead last.”

They are putting forth weakened Bills. The reform bill that barely passed on Friday had 27 Dems voting against it. They allowed 12 Corporations to be exempt from the new regulations.

“As long as their is someone decent to primary against President Obama I most certainly will be voting against him. He's had his chance and he's blown it. I don't and didn't expect tons of things done right away. However what I did expect was that the little he'd be able to get done or tackle would be for the benefit of the American people. That hasn't been the case at all. He hasn't backed much for the American people but instead placated and done his best to support the corperations. Enough is enough. I wanted Obama primaried in 2011. He at this point deserves to lose it as well. Hopefull we might then have a chance of getting someone that will actually represent the American people through action instead of simple words.”

“Why does there need to be something to replace it? The Senate isn't really a representative body. It never really was but allowed smaller states to have a say. That really isn't needed anymore. In fact some of the smallest states population wise have to much say now and hold up progress where as states with several million people are left waiting or without in the end. The House is a representative body though.. Allow the House to make laws. The court will make sure they are constitutional. The Senate isn't needed now.
The question is how can it be done. Can the the other branches and the House get rid of it themselves? The Senate most certainly won't vote to dissolve itself.”

“I've already changed my party affliation from Dem to Independent because I simply didn't want to be officially associated with the Dem party because they feel they are far to weak and even stupid at times in presenting their ideas. I still lean toward them most certainly. However if Reid and the others allow Lieberman to screw them over (when it's 100% clear that the man is lying out right even when presented with the cold hard facts to his face because he represents the insurance companies and has not tried to hide it) then I'm done with the party for good. It might be a waste of votes but I'll be voting for anyone else that isn't a Dem and most certainly isn't a Republican.
Republicans for how horrible they are as a whole at least have spines. Dems, not so much.
I firmly believe we as a people will be screwed over in the end. Insurance companies will be given millions of new customers and they will charge them into the ground or people will have to pay fines. They will continue their practices of denying coverage and dropping people but they come up with different terms to do it. Or simply continue to do it and pay a fine of their own. Nothing will change yet insurance companies will get richer and the people will become poorer.”

I saw one of Beck's books once and I was curious to know if they were selling and constantly being restocked. So I marked one of the pages and put it back on the shelf. Tiger has lots of fame, and he is a cash cow for a media industry that since they discovered that celebrities like the infamous O.J. trial is really, really good for business, seem to trip from one explosive issue (typically revolving around sex) to the next.
And, just because the MSM chooses to use entertainment as a way of sugar coating their lack of serious news, doesn't signal that a majority of Americans are really dug in and interested. They do this sort of thing, because they seek to maximize profits; most folks are mildly amused as well as guilty of indescretions themselves.
In a way, Tiger is a mirror on our Puritan, hypocritical lifestyles.”

“While the rest of the content of the performance is questionable this is really a case of the female/female pairing simply being more acceptable then the male/male pairing. It's a double standard no doubt but it's also a situation that people do not like to talk about at all. It makes them uncomfortable to a large degree. So while gay relationships do make some and the media uncomfortable to varying degress the woman/woman pairing is just easier to deal with it seems. It's just how at times interracial relationships make some people uncomfortable however people and especially the media are far more comfortable with the white male/black female pairing then they are of the black man/white female pairing. A current example is the new Disney film with the black princess. The prince is white. I doubt they ever bothered thinking about making the prince black to match the princess or to maybe have the prince black and the princess white.”
