The Coming Shutdowns and Showdowns: What's Really at Stake

Commented Feb 22, 2011 at 17:15:26 in Politics

“sad to say but the republicans DONT give a crap about anything or anybody but themselves, they could care less about the people in this country, MARK MY WORDS...if u think its bad now for the 99'ers, poor, and elderly...just waite we havent seen nothing yet!!!”

Marian Hennings on Feb 22, 2011 at 18:36:36

“How do they keep getting elected then? Is it because most people are stupid or aren't paying attention or thinking that they will be rich themselves someday (HAHA) and won't care either? Voting does not cost money, so how do Republicans keep getting elected if most of us don't benefit from their misrule?”

“My only quibble with your post is that you limited it to the Republicans.”

I'm sure they will throw a proposal to take food benefits as well...I cannot believe the government let alone our own president would try to do something that could harm, or even kill americans...hmm maybe thats the plan...This is one of the most stupid proposals I have ever saw, and prey this goes NOT happen, otherwise we just may see our own egypt here in the U.S...very sad”

“repealing the heal care bill doesnt address the unemployment problem I think thats the point!they are trying to shift the bills away from addressing the unemployment problem, that way they do not have to admit they were wrong this whole time about the real unemployment numbers, face reality, and actually come up with way's to address the unemployment problem, they are living in lala land!!!”

“Agreed; the question was rhetorical.”

“every country deserves to have the freedom that we here in the U.S have, I cannot imagine this happening here.. I do not understand how the U.S government and the people whom live here can jump at the drop of a dime to help other countries whom are in distress from a situation as this, or even a natural disaster from which nobody has control over, but not care enough about the people in our own country to step up and help them in their time of need ie a job, uemployment benefits, a place to lay their heads at night, food to feed our families. We spend millions if not billions of dollars to help other countries but yet cannot help our own, just sad...I do hope egypt can make it through this crisis, and come together as a country & help one another..no more people need to die..”

Anti-Health Care Republicans Officially Receive Taxpayer-Funded Coverage

Commented Feb 8, 2011 at 02:04:05 in Politics

“this goes to show how hipocritical the republicans are..yes it may be employer provided health care, but how can you vote against something that obviously seems to be good enough yourself and your family or you wouldnt be receiving it in the first place, I cannot speak for anybody else but if I didnt believe my employer provided health care was right for myself or my family I would purchase it somewhere else... making $160,000+ a year its not like they cannot afford to purchase a health plan not provided by their employer.”

http://www.examiner.com/unemployment-in-rochester/rep-barbara-lee-tells-gregg-rosen-that-99er-legislation-will-be-reintroduced
according to this article and several others this bill would be paid for..people need these weeks as a lifeline, what made republicans think the bush tax cuts would help the economy when they have been enacted before the recession even hit, yet havent helped? If they can give these cuts to the wealthy, they can give 14 weeks of unemployment to 99'ers, I appreciate someone stepping up to help the 99'ers but unfortunately I doubt this bill will even see the light of day as NOBODY in congress nor the president seems to give a crap about anybody but themselves, the cuts should start with their own saleries, and their employees maybe then they themselves will be in touch with the reality of the economy a little bit more (doubt it) I would rather have a minimum wage job with no benefits and be happy at my job, than have a job where im miserable and dont even want to wake up in the morning to go to work!!! ANY job will do, just give me a job!!!!”
