“I quit my loss mitigation job with EMC mortgage (parent is JP Morgan Chase) because it is a sad business. The ironic thing is that now JP Morgan is training people in Costa Rica and other places to do the job that I used to do. They always used outsourcing for the paperwork end (I thought most Americans would have liked to known about that outsourcing when we gave them all the $$ for the bailout) but now they are going to start outsourcing the actual phone people (most with years of banking and college degree) These jobs pay 40-70k/yr.

There are going to be no jobs left in this country. Just a few rich people at the top of JP Morgan and their army of workers around the globe. Still we keep electing people who make the situation worse.

Get out of the us VS them mindset and look for a progressive possibly 3rd party candidate instead of just wanting to be on the winning side.”

In any case all the prices are way too high because it's not completely legal. I'm guessing that after it becomes completely legal the price will plummet. There are folks getting rich rich rich right now in CA.”

Public Option in Danger

“I don't need to use my imagination. I have no health insurance.

Owning a home means nothing to me. Any roof over my head is a blessing. Could it be that you are too attached to your lifestyle to the point where you can't see that you actually don't NEED a car or house? If you can't see it, visit South America or Africa and you will realize how rich even the poor are in the United States.

Also you seem to have some negative feeling toward declaring bankruptcy. I don't want to be your psychologist but why is that? BK is a good option for many people and very sucessful people like Abe Lincoln and Walt Disney have used that tool in the past. My theory is the wealthy have somehow convinced the regular folk that it is somehow immoral to declare BK but you tell me.”

“It is a good fair question. Many people will not give money so it can be put back into a corrupt system. Food and shelter are one thing. Worrying about a credit report is another. I have asked before but what are the dire consequences of not paying you medical bills and is it possible that paying them just keeps enabling the same system that crested the problem?”

ChelleAgain replied on Oct 18, 2009 at 11:42:31

“And when more and more people don't pay for more and more of these services we will eventually have a real crisis that will bring a change to the system. Apparently, right now is not yet a crisis.

I don't think anyone can argue that if we keep paying, these large bloodsucking corporations will keep taking and wanting more and more. Don't get me wrong, in ten more years they might get OUR government to throw CITIZENS in prison for not paying their bills (prison unions will like it) as they have already gotten the politicians that they own to weaken BK laws.”

I don't think it is fair to call them grifters or and the other names you called them.

We can have a discussion on the merits of paying bills that help keep current systems in tact, my favorite being credit card issuers that raise your rate for no good reason. ( DON'T PAY!) but there is no need to name call. Jeeze.”

“One thing I am confused about is why they have to pay their medical bills when the only consequence I know of is a "bad" credit report. Would the daughters be denied further help if they don't pay? I would gladly help them to buy food and shelter but to give them money so they can pay further into a system that has gone wrong I would not even do for myself.

I wish this family the best and if someone can explain, I'm sure I am missing something.”

yemaya replied on Oct 15, 2009 at 11:16:53

“ok, sparky here goes my attempt at relieving your confusion: Most people who file for bankruptcy in this country do so because of medical bills. That means that they have exhausted all means of paying these vampires so they can KEEP THEIR HOMES, cars and food on the table. Most of these people have used their credit cards for food and to pay their electric and water bills due to their situation. They have done everything they can to keep going, without having the leeches take their home.

They need their cars to get to dr. appointments, hubby's job, etc... so they still have to pay for gas and insurance on their vehicles. Millions of americans RIGHT NOW, are using their credit cards to get by.

Use your imagination a bit and you'll see that it's really not that hard to imagine being there. Lose your job and insurance and we'll see how far you get. Get an illness that debilitates you or limits your life and then you'll understand.
In the meantime, be grateful and thankful that you are not going thru something like this!”

Appleblossom replied on Oct 15, 2009 at 00:11:09

“Just an FYI so you can understand.

Today was my first time getting a lawsuit for a medical bill going unpaid in the court I work at.
The hospital can sue the family and if they win, with a judgment they can garnish wages, get their assets in a writ of execution, and even have their licenses taken away.

So the consequences can be much worse than just a bad credit report.”

J Q replied on Oct 14, 2009 at 23:36:24

“Bad credit = no student loans for their kid's college.
Bad credit = can't rent an apartment (in some areas/cities).
Bad credit = may deem a person too big of a security risk for some jobs.
Bad credit = no car loan, if you need a car to get to that job.
Bad credit = maybe, getting sued by your creditors.

In this country, it's not nothing.”

gale4786 replied on Oct 14, 2009 at 21:57:12

The 5 Best iPhone Apps to Take on a Date

“How about when on a date, leave your phone at home or have it turned off so you can be present with the other person and not have a distraction. If the date is going so so horribly (something I can't imagine) be mature and just tell the person you need to leave. Wow. How did we ever live with out cell phones and these "important" apps that go with them.

Social networking and instant communication is destroying real communication skills. If you don't believe me look at the world in which you live in. If someone is so young that they never had a date where no one had a cell phone on I feel bad for you as your missing out on a great experience weather it be good or bad. Not too long ago maybe 10 years? It was downright RUDE to go out with someone and have a cell phone on. I guess the 1000's of ads the cell phone companies run every day have convinced society that it is not rude. Oh, make that 1001 commercials. Thanks.”

This is a way the average citizen can earn some extra cash and is very normal in many poor countries. They should have paid the extra $50 and chalked it up to a learning lesson. You can't expect the same treatment in other countries as we receive here in the US. For example, if you go to Mexico, you should fully expect to get pulled over for nothing and pay a bribe to be let go. Its just the way it is.

Any American traveling especially to poor countries should keep in mind just how poor the average person is and how they may resent a "rich" American. I think these kids may have been in a bubble like many American's are.”

We wanted Universal Healthcare like EVERY single other industrialized nation. (really let that sink in - we are the only people that don't have it!) But yet we are left with maybe a public option or maybe co-ops which is not Universal Healthcare.

We wanted a more peaceful country. We did not want a escalation in Afghanistan where anyone who has read a little bit knows that is where empires go to die .

No I never hear about anyone wanting unicorns and ify you equate the 3 things above we want as unattainable, I would say that this is further proof that liberals need a 3rd party. Democrats represent corporate America not liberals.”
