As long as they keep their religion in their churches and homes, I do not care what their standards are.”

“The problem with the award and it's perception by many here is that you're looking at it from a domestic standpoint - the picture is quite different if you take a world-view. The US has a completely different complexion and agenda - there's too much cynicism in this country to recognize it, but to the world community it's a new day for American and international relations.

Right.
When all we have is right wing MSM & talk radio blaring 24/7 that Obama is bad, bad, bad, half of America thinks this is the way everyone in the world talks and acts. A shocking 91% of radio is right wing!
Across the oceans, our propagandist's don't hold great sway, they even have t-r-u-t-h-s in their media OMG...and to much of the world, Obama's election was a great statement of hope for everyone.
To have everyone carping about this award as though they even know what the Nobel committee means when they make this award for Peace is just more of our reactionary populace's knee jerk habit of whining on command in place of acceptance of what is.
Obama called it what is was, a call to action, and I think it put a great emphasis on him to bring about Peace with greater urgency than is happening at present. It is a good thing.”

“Well done Joe. I was absolutely disgusted with the juvenile reaction from the right. The olympics could have brought thousands of jobs and loads of revenue - but yet those on the right rooted for the bid to fail. It's a shame to see the immaturity from the right - two years ago Obama was railed on because he didn't wear a flag pin claiming he was anti-American, and today we saw the true face of the right as they rallied for our country to lose. That's unAmerican. It's shameful and pathetic, but it's what I expect from the republicans these days.”

It's truly shameful. Many countries look up the the United States, and THIS is what they see? Backward, neanderthalish, ignorant, gullible, bigoted dupes for the corporations running the country. All that was missing were the white hoods.
There has to be at least one sensible republican out there that is angry that this is what their party has become. They're embarrassing us all. Although, all their nonsense just makes Obama look more and more like the adult in the room - his responses make them look even more petty and foolish. The majority of us still retain our sanity and civility - we just need to be heard as well.”

“You know, one thing I find somewhat strange about the rights resistance to czars is that the opponents are typically huge supporters of private industry taking over government functions, that privatization is the way to go - private sector companies can do things smarter and more efficiently. We saw it heavily during the bush admin. Now, here's a man - from outside DC politics - someone who had been working in his area of expertise in the private sector - he's brought in to use the ideas that he's learned and developed in the private sector (but without the overinflated paycheck) - but now, they don't want outside influences? I don't get it - you can't have it both ways - you have the desire for involvement from the public sector - experts in their fields in the public forum - but when they get there, you think it's wrong? Is it only right when we're overpaying a private firm to provide substandard results?
Perhaps I'm overthinking this, but I just don't see the logic in their actions. It's nothing but a blatant a junior high tactic - it's not looking to better our government or our country - to bring the best ideas to the forefront. So I'm a bit of a polly anna, but shouldnt' there be a certain amount of shame directed at those that are actively trying to hamper or resist improvement and better and more cost efficient procedures? Ok, I'm off my soapbox.”

Whose fault is it that Palin didn't have time to develop the layers of thick skin? If you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen. Did she think the presidential campaign and state politics was like just another a beauty pageant? Where she could simply dress pretty and give incoherent answers?

It was incredible - pure entertainment - lights, dancing and fantasic music. I can still picture it like a video running through my head. Our teenage slumber parties were Jackson 5 tributes - we all thought we were Michael - singing and dancing along. They're great memories, I'm saddened by his passing.”

“Right on the mark! Someone should ask these religious leaders and politicians who prostrate themselves before them to tell us the difference between Wahabism that spurned the Taliban and Al'Qaida and Christian fundamentalsim. Why is Christian martyrdom preferable to Islamic martyrdom of suicide bombers? I know the great majority of Christians and muslims do not subscribe to this dangerous idiocy, but they do not speak out forcefully against them. Why doesn't the political establishment and the media demand that politicians like Huckabee and Gingrich denounce these extremist hate mongers; the same way they demanded Obama to denounce Rev. Wright? I remember Black politician being urged to denounce Farrakhan every time he spoke. The United States Senate took an unprecedented decision when it passed a unanimous resolution (all 100 of them) in 1984 denouncing Minister Farrakhan ( private citizen) for his alleged comment that judaism was a gutter religion? But white right wing Christian pastors routinely call Islam an evil religion and not a peep is heard from Congress or the MSM. Some people are now praying for the death of the President and I have yet to see a politician introduce a resolution to denounce these agents of hate.”
