“They may have a better business model, but that does not make them a better "news" organization. Convincing a lot of elderly and low-information viewers of things that are patently untrue is not the same thing as delivering "news". It is propaganda and unworthy of anyone who calls himself a journalist.”

“Moving is not the same thing as closing. They will maintain the same staff and all the same functions while still saving US tax payers 1.4 million dollars per year. I can tolerate any offense the Vatican may take at this "move" since I am one of the tax payers whose dollars can go to a better cause. And just to emphasize how silly this "outrage" over the move is - the new location is actually 0.1 miles closer to the Vatican. A spokesman for the Vatican said the move was well within the Holy See’s requirements for embassies and that relations with the United States are far from strained.”

“The Vatican is, in fact, a sovereign city-state whose territory consists of a walled enclave within the city of Rome. It has an area of approximately 44 hectares (110 acres), and a population of around 840. This makes Vatican City the smallest internationally recognized independent state in the world by both area and population. The politics of Vatican City takes place in an absolute elective monarchy, in which the head of the Roman Catholic Church takes power. The Pope exercises principal legislative, executive, and judicial power over the State of Vatican City (an entity distinct from the Holy See), which is a rare case of a non-hereditary monarchy. The Vatican is the only remaining absolute monarchy in Europe. (See Vatican City in Wikipedia for more information).”

“No, it is not. How you can even compare the suffering of those who endured Katrina, or who died in Iraq, to the inconvenience of having to replace your current insurance is beyond me. The vast majority of Americans will not be affected by the Affordable Care Act - they are covered by their employers or Medicare - and are not eligible for the Affordable Care Act. Those who may lose their current plan are people who purchase their insurance privately - not part of a group plan. Private insurers have always canceled plans that weren't profitable, long before the Affordable Care Act was passed. Even they will most likely be able to get a better plan under the Affordable Care Act. The anecdotes you've heard are from people who have not been able to get on the web site yet to shop for a replacement plan. Some may have to pay more, but they will have better coverage for their money. Less than 1 percent of Americans under age 65 face the situation where they would not be offered the same individual market plan and yet would not be eligible for financial help to buy a new plan. And even these people will benefit from the many consumer protections in the Affordable Care Act.”

“That's "President Obama" to you sir. He is the duly elected President of the United States and deserves common courtesy and respect for that reason, if no other. Congressmen, and any other patriotic American, should respect the office of the presidency and treat it's incumbent accordingly, no matter how you feel about the person who currently holds that office. Congressmen routinely address each other as "gentlemen". Gentlemen are supposed to be courteous and respectful even towards those with whom they have legitimate disagreements. The growing lack of courtesy in our public discourse is regrettable and unnecessary.”

“It is too bad that many Americans agree with you that it is OK to disrespect our President. I disagree with you. It is OK to disagree with the President. It is OK to tell him that you disagree with his policies or decisions. It is not OK to insult him or demean him just because you don't personally like him. I was taught, and I still believe, the person who holds the office of the President of the United States and who was duly elected by a majority of Americans, should be treated with respect at all times. If Americans do not treat their President with respect, then why should we expect him to be treated with respect on foreign soil?”

“The first line is a statement without background information. It does not say whether that was how the questions was put to McCain. "I'm seriously thinking about maybe giving another opportunity for you to vote for or against me in a few years from now," McCain said during an interview on KFYI-AM in Phoenix. "I'm seriously giving that a lot of thought." So, unless the original question was specifically aimed at re-election to the Senate, McCain left plenty of room in his statement for interpretation.”

Ted did grow up in Texas, but he was born in Calgary, Canada. His father was from Cuba and his mother was from Delaware. Politicians from Texas are no more likely to be dirty than politicians from any other state. I live in Texas, and there is much I don't like about their politics, but the state, itself, is a great place to live and there are many good and decent people here. Some of them are even politicians.”

“Are you as concerned about that when you sign up for Facebook as you are when you sign up for healthcare? Your personal information is already available to hackers online if you've ever visited a doctor or hospital. I just spent 18 months caring for my mother who had lung cancer. Every time she went to a different specialist or had to be admitted to a hospital, I had to fill out multiple forms all asking for her complete medical history and all the "personal" information you are talking about. Most of the time, I had to fill out those forms online, and even when I didn't, the hospital entered the information into computers themselves. How do you know anyone is safeguarding your information these days? Have you heard of Wikileaks?”
