“When Cheney admits waterboarding, he is admitting torture. The USA has prosecuted waterboarding as torture in the past.

Cheney et. al., effectively changed the definition of torture from the Geneva Convention definition to one which said treatment did not rise to the level of torture until the pain was equivalent to that of losing an organ or a limb. I would say there are plenty of things under that that would qualify as torture.”

Supreme Court Health Care Law Decision Looms Over New Term

“I can read the future:

Wash D.C., June 2012 -- In a 5 - 4 decision today, the U.S. Supreme Court held that Obama's Health Care Reform Law [was/was not] constitutional. Justices Roberts, Scalia, Alito, and Thomas all held that the law was unconstitutional while Ginsberg, Breyer, Sotomayer, and Kagen all held it was constitutional. The deciding vote was Justice Kennedy's swing vote to the majority.”

Evolution Begins to Occupy Center Stage in Economic Debates

Commented Sep 30, 2011 at 18:56:34 in Business

“This is very interesting. Thank you for sharing.

I am curious though about Republicans and evolution. When did the Republican party become so anti-science? They were the party of the EPA in the 70's. What happened?”

ajax cleanser on Sep 30, 2011 at 19:23:58

“Of note to me is the fact that the scientific community abandoned the scientific method, replacing it with consensus driven science (peer review is the latest moniker). This started with the ET debates in the 60's and the hot pursuit of government funded research grants, and has morphed to evolution and global warming with even larger economic prey in their sights. Google "Michael Crichton + evolution", you will see a very interesting description of the downward evolution (if you will) of the scientific community's integrity as they chase $$$.”

Florida Primary Election 2012: Date Of Contest Set For Jan. 31

Commented Sep 30, 2011 at 18:49:19 in Politics

“The primaries and caucus' should all be on the same day. Why should Iowa and NH have such control over the major party candidates. Their choices impact all Americans, why can't all Americans participate? I understand the primaries are "private" in that they are run by the parties, but at least delegates used to select the candidate at the conventions. Now the conventions are just big PR machines. Why shouldn't every interested Democrat, Republican, and Independent be allowed to vote for the candidate of their choice.

It would eliminate people switching sides when their party of choice doesn't have a primary.”

Rick Perry Eviscerated By Fox News Sunday Panel: He 'Really Did Throw Up All Over Himself In The Debate' (VIDEO)

Commented Sep 25, 2011 at 16:05:17 in Politics

“BREAKING NEWS: Republican Candidate's increasing poor performances in key debates as well as their total failure to state lucid and rational positions on any issue has caused panic in the Republican establishment. Commentators at the Weekly Standard have brazenly announced they are not endorsing anyone from the current field and are instead waiting for Clark Kent to enter the race. Barring entry by Clark Kent, they have indicated they will also accept Bruce Wayne -- but only if he leaves his lover Robin, at home".”

IMF: Global Economy Entering Dangerous Phase

Commented Sep 25, 2011 at 10:01:10 in Business

“The Republicans in this country want the economy to tank. Their interest is not in doing what is best for America, but instead what they view as best for the Republican Party. If there is anything similar going on in the EU, we are all doomed. The EU will fall apart as their currency fails and the U.S. economy will collapse. All thanks to greed and ignorance.”

Unrepentant on Sep 25, 2011 at 11:08:02

“It's not just about greed and ignorance with the Republican party. They want the economic recovery to fail so that they can proclaim Obama's presidency has failed. They have done all they can to convince the ignorant and greedy that their policies are intended to stop government spending while economists assert that now is the time for government spending to get money back into the economy so that consumers can pay off their debt. Consumer debt is one of the biggest drags on the economy. Some of that debt has been mitigated by defaulting on mortgages, but that has destroyed the housing market as the banks dump these homes on the real estate market at low-ball prices.”

Republican Debate Audience Boos Gay Soldier Stephen Hill After DADT Repeal Question (VIDEO)

Commented Sep 24, 2011 at 14:04:02 in Politics

As to the audience booing -- it just proves that the tea party and republicans are self-hating, homophobic bigots.”
