From Media Blitz to Women's Conference: Has Maria Shriver Discerned a Watershed Moment?
Commented Oct 26, 2009 at 15:34:26 in Living
“Maria is the worst first lady we have ever had and I'm a five-generation Californian and a Democrat to boot. Both she and Arnold are complete jokes and a major embarrassment to all Californians. I can't wait until he is voted out of office and replaced with Jerry Brown or Gavin Newsom - either one would be far better then the two currently presiding over California.”
2 Top Alaska Newspapers Question Palin's Fitness

“Actually Palin has 12 years of government service, two of which have been served as Governor. Obama only has 9 years and he never served as governor of anything.
She has him beat and she's running as VP. Hussein is trying to run with less of a record as President. If you're a white voter who supported Hillary your vote is more then likely going to go for McCain/Palin before it will go for Barack/Joe”

“Only if you are a white voter who doesn't care about the safety and security of this country both economically and militarily.
As more and more comes out about the ill-vetted Palin, I think that this pick is going to backfire with everyone except the Christian fundamentalists. Jews are not going to like the fact that she was a Pat Buchanan Brigadier. Fiscal Republicans are not going to like the fact that she left her little town $20 million in debt and knows nothing about the economy, just like McCain. Military Republicans are going to be aghast at the possibility that she could be Commander in Chief. Did you see the line up of former Generals and Admirals at the Democratic Convention? That number should triple now.”

“Look on wikipedia - Palin has almost 11 years of experience.
18 months as governor
9 years as mayor - where she build the sports complex and put a town of 5,000 20 million dollars in debt.
NO INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
A BA IN JOURNALISM
---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- --------
Barack Obama - 15 years experience
Four years as a community organizer
Seven years in the state senate
Four years in the Illinois Senate
He also organized an effective grass roots campaign for the President.
Atended Columbia and Harvard - worked as editor of the Harvard Law Review and taught Constitutional Law.
NO COMPARISON!”

“You can't be more wrong.
Being a white, working-class Democrat who supported Clinton over Obama mainly because of his lack of national experience, I was going sit out the general election, vote for McCain in protest, or cut the top of the ticket by not voting for President.
When McCain announced his VP pick, he's managed to energize me in a way Obama never could. After I stopped laughing at his choice I realized the McCain/Palin ticket have to be defeated at all costs. Picking Palin as a running mate to pander to the religious right and possibly disgruntled female Clinton supporters without any thought about her qualifications to actually lead this country shows that McCain has lost his marbles, and he'll will do and say anything to try to get elected. The thought of a President McCain was frightening enough without the nightmare possibility of a President Palin, a woman so petty she fired the guy who wouldn't fire her sister's ex-husband, the state trooper.
Petty Palin's pander-pick peeves prospective proponents ..
Go OBAMA!”

“Obama has been an elected official at the state and federal level since 1996. That's 12 years by my count. He is also a constitutional lawyer. Palin has been governor for a year and a half. The rest of her public service has been at the city level. She has a BA in journalism. Alaska has a population of of approx. 700,000. Chicago, approx. 3 million and the state of Illinois approx. 13 million.
Apples and oranges.”

“Twelve years of "government service"? Minus the year-and-a-half as governor, I assume you're counting city council and mayor of a fishing village. And you're comparing THIS to the Illinois State Legislature and the US Senate, both of which are larger than the government of Alaska? A law degree from Harvard, president of the Harvard Law Review, two published books, and the longest and most grueling vetting process we've seen in American history.
You're crazy. McCain's candidacy is now invalid. A man, in his first major decision, that chooses Governor Palin, a woman he has met once and spoken with on the phone exactly twice, and thus doesn't actually even know, for the number two job is reckless and cynical and does not possess the judgment necessary to be President. Though I'm a Democrat, you can't tell me that there aren't stacks of more accomplished conservatives, women as well if he must have those optics, to put on his ticket. If he were ten points ahead she wouldn't even be on the list, my man.
I think the choice is astonishing in its insanity. Governor Palin may actually possess the most brilliant political mind of all time, but I don't care to take that risk. I think his campaign is over. But this being America, there's always plenty of numbskulls like you who drag the rest of us down every four years.”

We are talking about Alaska. The state is as red as Idaho or Alabama.

“Learn to count... 8 yrs in the state senate and 3 years in the US senate equals 11 years... Yes, that might be 1 year less then palin, but please, we cannot count her days a mayor of a town of 6000, my the local barber is the mayor of my town of 24,000! and please do not refer to HRCs voters as "it"s... thats whats wrong with you rep! You dont think women have minds of their own, so you refer to them as it and put Sarah Palin on a major party ticket!”

She is not experienced enough to be VP or president. It's a good thing she got her passport in 2007. At least now she's able to visit other countries.”

“This is true. 83% of American democrats are supporting Hillary, not Obama. If Obama was to receive the Democratic nomination then 75% of democrats would vote Republican (or not vote at all).
Somehow you can't convince the Obama zealots. They believe everything Oprah says. What fools.”

“I doubt this. I think Democrats would support Obama over any of the various candidates the Republicans have. There is such a desire to cleanse the White House of Dubya and his criminal hacks and sleazeballs that Democrats would vote for their whoever their candidate is. The tough nut to crack is finding a candidate that would appeal to moderates and honest conservatives. Personally, I don't like Obama's Lincolnesque-style rhetoric. I don't see the need to destroy the South again to save the Union and unite the nation. I am sick to death of this rhetoric and the burdens it implies. I personally would like to see a movement to begin return power back to the states and reduce the power of business and corporations. With civil rights for all a given. The country is too complex to be run from Washington. And Americans of today are not the those of the WWII generation; we are extremely cynical about Washington's pretensions.”
