As for President Obama, when he has finished his two terms, he will likely leave a domestic record of accomplishment equaled only by Franklin Roosevelt.”

“He'll do whatever the Israelis tell him to do. They want to see Obama fail. They think "Obama's bad for Israel." Anything to hurt him, thwart him. Of course, the irony is, Israel has national health care.”

Rosewren replied on Oct 30, 2009 at 16:23:46

“And as we subsidize Israel to the tune of about 3 billion a year, we are indirectly subsidizing their universal health care.”

Decipherer replied on Oct 30, 2009 at 16:23:35

“As much as I believe Lieberman to be a shameless turncoat to the values for which he had been elected and at one point nominated to be vice president (!!), and the fact that he is a bought-and-paid-for handmaiden of the big insurance companies, I do not believe for a minute that he is a traitor to the United States as you scurrillously suggest.

You'd better be ready to back up a statement like that, Slick.”

“For Lieberman it's all about Israel. Israel has health care for all it's citizens. He doesn't give a damn about US citizens and their lack of health care, never has. As for Obama, Lieberman detests him, because the Israelis detest him. Lieberman and the right wing Jewish lobby think Obama is "bad for Israel." Ergo he wants to see Obama fail, just as the Republicans (and about 90% of Israeli's) do. So Lieberman will do whatever he can to thwart and hurt Obama. That's the way it is.”

mike38 replied on Oct 30, 2009 at 18:21:12

“Joe Liebermann is a traitor & he will vote 4 anyone who agrees with his agenda to take America to war again in order to protect Israel .he's trying to tell the people that he cares about America and
says that giving health care to Americans is very expensive but it's OK to spend Billions of $$$$$$$$
on his wars for Israel......SHAMELESS !”

Commented Oct 20, 2009 at 13:35:11 in Politics

“Gripe, gripe, gripe. Natter, natter, natter. They want Obama to do this, to do that. But the fact is that every president including strong ones have failed at this. The minute this becomes about Obama, it will die. Obama understands this. It's moving nicely along. It's going to happen. And it does look as if there is going to be some king of public option, and once there is that toe in the door, it's going to happen all the way, eventually becoming a single payer system. This is why the insurance companies are fighting back. They know their day is numbered.

What will be more helpful than Obama backing this or that plan, will be the time when the American people figure out that the insurance companies are not altruistic, that they are interested in profits - profits at their expense, at the expense of their health and at the expense of the doctors. This time will come.

Obama is doing just fine, thank you.”

Internal RNC Memo: "Engage In Every Activity" To Slow Down Health Care Reform

Commented Jul 21, 2009 at 11:37:42 in Politics

“This is hardly a revelation. One doesn't need to read such memos to understand that this is their strategy - indeed it is the only thing they can do since both McCain and Obama professed to want Health Care reform. But it shows their utter cynicism - the Republicans don't give a damn about the American people, nor do they care about a health care system that is broken and will only get much much worse without reform. They just want to win a political fight at all costs and whatever the consequences.”

Pakistan Kidnapping: 400 Students, Staff Captured By Militants, Police Say

Commented Jun 01, 2009 at 15:20:44 in World

“No they don't care about winning hearts and minds. They rely on fear and intimidation. They want to make it so bad, so unstable, that people will turn to them in desperate hope that it will at least stop.

They will do anything and kidnapping 400 boys is hardly unusual for them.. They have no scruples. Eventually they will get hold of a nuke. There is only one solution to the Taliban and it isn't political.

Pakistan right now is like a malignant cancer on the body of the world and endangers the future of civilization.”

Joethepauper replied on Jun 01, 2009 at 17:15:13

“mbondr1 is correct. This whole thing is about hearts and minds. The Taliban isn't really that interested in the hearts and minds of half their population (women and girls). All either side would have to do to win the strategic part would be to get electricity, clean water, food, education, and basic government services to the people who lack those things. Whoever does those things the quickest wins. Since neither side seems to be aware of those tactics, they will continue to employ the wrong tactics (more fighting). Soon, we may have to concede Afghanistan to whichever is strongest (the Taliban or Karzai's Kabul-based government {which barely exists outside of Kabul). The end-game is the same in whatever country gets invaded by whomever, whenever: Getting the people what they need. Without that strategy, you can fight until nobody is left and still lose the war. When people go without, they blame it on the government and side with the anti-government forces. If the only school in your province is run by the Taliban, you send your kids (not the girls) there. If the only school is a Karzai government school, you send them there. In this case, the Taliban are making an error, but there are enough f#ck-ups to go around on both sides.”

Israel deliberately scuttled Oslo by ignoring their requirements and building settlements. This has been consistent behavior by all Israeli governments right and left.

It's time to crack the whip and get them to behave. Get them back to the 1967 borders. Get some real peace in the Middle East, which in the end is the very best thing America could do for Israel, and more importantly, the best thing we can do for our own national security which must be the most important consideration for the United States of America..”

“Hillary once spoke up for a Palestinian state and was crucified for it. Let's see how she can do.

That said, of all the albatrosses around the neck of the US: South Korea, Iraq, it's Israel that is our biggest threat. They are a drag on our security - they do not help us at all, but rather, they spy on us (there are more Israeli spies in American prisons)than all our other so called "allies" combined or even enemies and more are under investigation. Israel is an enemy to the survival of the US. Yet there are people in our government to whom the survival of Israel matters more than any thing else including their own country.”

arvay replied on Mar 17, 2009 at 07:18:29

“You and Justtellthetruth have put your fingers on the central problem of our foreign policy -- the fact that our most dangerous challenge is being managed to suit the wishes of an internal political force being directed by Israel rather than in terms of the nation's national interest.

The defeat of Charles Freeman's nomination -- as far as I can tell the only independent voice encouraged on the Obama administration, illustrates the power of this profoundly destructive lobby.

Now israel is appointing a bald-faced fascist as its foreign minister. Will the administration bow and scrape to this outrageous individual? I'd put money on it.

Would love to be wrong, but I think this is all headed for more war, more violence, and a tighter grip by the israeli lobby on the American press and political process.

Welcome to occupied America and its Web-friendly Vichy government.”
