George Stephanopoulos: "GMA" Decision Was 'Terribly Hard' Because I 'Love Washington'

Commented Dec 11, 2009 at 15:50:51 in Media

“I like the Today Show. When GMA brought in Bill O'Reilly to do political commentary, I pulled the plug on GMA .”

BlueBoomer replied on Dec 11, 2009 at 18:10:38

“I have NEVER liked the Today show...it always felt kind of hokey, what with Willard and Al, etc.

I think that Diane Sawyer and Chris Cuomo both have a wry sense of humor that I enjoy... besides them, my favorite AM duo was Harry Smith and Paula Zahn.”

ctblue replied on Dec 11, 2009 at 17:55:52

“Today show is all fluff. It's Newsertainment. Matt Lauer is a lightweight and hardly a "news" man. Al Roker is all about cracking himself up. Ann is all about fake sincerity and Meredith... well, I feel bad for her because she really is a news person. The morning shows are for old people with nothing better to do.”

“The banking debacle and the health care debate clearly define who is working for the people and who is a puppet for the corporations. If your votes do not reflect the wants and needs of your constituents then it is time to face a primary challenge.
I agree with you the south is a problem. They have racism and religion as a big part of their politics so rational thought is severely lacking.”

“Modify? CitiBank, Bank of America, Wells Fargo etc should not be allowed to take taxpayer money with one hand and seize taxpayer assets with the other. All foreclosures should be suspended immediately for the banks receiving TARP funds. It is only fair.”

There is no danger of a RENO movement taking off, there is no one to front for it. And to be honest, such a movement, were it successful, just might net a bigger bunch of losers than you already have! Damned if you do, damned if you don't.”

“If passed any bill would not go into effect until 2013 or so. So we might as well use this time to vote out Lieberman, Bayh, Stupak, Nelson, Baucus and other health care industry puppets and get real reform like Medicare for all.

I think it is ridiculous that Medicare does not provide dental and vision care- seems kind of important. Need money? The 1st stop should be trimming the bloated beyond belief Pentagon budget.”

Commented Nov 22, 2009 at 20:17:27 in Politics

“All I have to say to everyone here is that I will promise you as a CT resident I will do everything in my power to get rid of the toad Lieberman. Since the public option would not even go into effect until 2013 (does anyone know why) there is plenty of time to to amend it and elect better people in 2010.

I often call Lieberman's office and tell his staff he should just resign since he has such an obvious conflict of interest. I make them right it down and give them my name. I get a long sanctimonious letter in response.”

“You don't have to wait for that scenario- it plays out day in and day out in the private, profit driven, health care monopoly. Your interests and your health care insurance providers interests are opposed. Not a healthy situation.

Our current system is not sustainable. American wages have flat lined and soon health care premiums will be 40% of our wages. It does not take a genius to figure out that something has to give.

I say lift the age restriction off MediCare and just be done with it.”

“We should print up some 'STOP ABUSING THE TROOPS" bumper stickers and bring them home from these useless wars. It is inhumane the stress we are putting our troops and military families under and not addressing their problems when they come back after 2, 3 and 4 tours of duty.

We can't have health care reform that would benefit everybody but we can throw good money after bad in these wars of profit. How about using taxpayer money for programs that actually benefit taxpayers?”

Oh that's right the GOP can't get elected on their ideas- they don't have any! From their rubber stamping of everything Bush, their budget with no numbers and their CBO slashed health care proposal that actually makes things worse- it is very obvious.”
