Lieberman Wins: Medicare Compromise On Chopping Block
Commented Dec 15, 2009 at 12:18:49 in Politics
“I'm a fellow countryman, still living down here. I know what you mean. Biding my time - soon, soon.
I'm now living in Silicon Valley and have many friends, the best and brightest from all over the world. I was discussing last week with one friend who has built and sold two companies and who is building a third - he's one of the most intelligent guys I know - developing bleeding edge technology, designed by Indians, built by Chinese and funded by the British and Americans - that will alter all of our lives in the next three to five years. We were discussing that with the state of the global economy and advances in technology, people who moved here to Silicon Valley no longer see any advantage to being "here". People are actually doing the math and can provide for their families and have a better standard of living by moving back home to Russia, India, China. (take a look at the number of new billionaires in those counties to see what I mean) I told him that I think we are not very far away from the day that white folks are going to be moving abroad, following the good work overseas. (I used to work for a big name internet company that offered to allow us to keep our jobs if we'd move to Prague because it was cheaper for them)
Educated people can do better for themselves outside the fatherland.”

“and she's complaining about the scientific "priesthood".
SP's a modern day Martin Luther, nailing her treatises to the door of the WaPo, saying every "man" should have direct access to knowledge without having to resort to the intercession of the scientific priesthood; that if your own "still, small voice" says go buy an SUV and rape the planet, then god has spoken and you should listen.”

Why is it fine for Christian institutions to be granted tax free status, proselytize to non-believers, put forth politicians who demand we all live according to your ten commandments, but you fear another religion which shares a common root and a majority of your beliefs?”

Obese Man On American Airlines Flight (PICTURE, POLL)

“I sat in the middle seat on a completely booked, five hour flight recently, between two guys about half this guys' size. They were both already seated when I boarded. They'd both raised their seat arms and were all strapped in, oozing over into my seat. I asked, but the FA said it was a full flight, so no chance to switch. I had to fly so I wedged myself in. One fell asleep and snored in my ear, the other wore a short sleeved golf shirt and his sweaty arm suck to me the entire way.
So lovely.”

He reeked so bad, even the people in the row behind smelled him. Gross really. Looked like a young guy who had partied all night in Vegas and just jumped on the morning flight. I had to sit with my nose buried in my shirt the whole flight.”

“For what it's worth, my tween picked this one to see over the vampire flick and it's become her new favorite movie.
I'm happy she likes the movie where folks help each other regardless of skin color, and stand up to our societies continued prejudices to help each other over the other exploitative teen flick this Thanksgiving weekend. I'm glad she insisted and I'm glad these are the values to which she aspires.
p.s. we were all p1$$ed off when the republican white guy with power ignored the black folks in dire need of help in New Orleans. Maybe some popular entertainment mainstreaming the idea that them that can should, especially when the headlines say 1 in 4 mortgages are under water, 1 in 8 are using food stamps and unemployment climbs higher and higher.
Get mad, but don't shoot the messenger.”
