“Winston Churchill once said- "The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter." The only way to stop the income inequality is to vote all Republicans out of office, but this is not going to happen.”

“Your first sentence is an argument for Plato's Republic, ruled by philosopher kings. Your second sentence is an argument for more of the same, just change the pigs at the trough. Which one do you advocate?”
“The pathetic part is that the many people who watch only Fox News have absolutely no knowledge about what is actually happening in America. It has previously been reported that Fox devotees are less educated than those who view other news channels. Hannity and O'Reilley refuse to report any unflattering news about anyone whose allegiance is to the GOP.”

“Fox News was created to be a right wing propaganda tool, and it has worked very, very well. Back when the FCC had the Fairness Doctrine, it would have languished. But Reagan thought it 'inhibited free speech'. Attempts to revive it were blocked by both Reagan and Bush. So, Fox News has been allowed to pepper it's viewers with one-sided political view, pandering to the older whites, younger poorer whites, less educated and all the people so very afraid that they are losing their "Ozzie and Harriet" world.....which never existed by the way. Although I do give props to Shep Smith for at least making an attempt to present both sides.”

“Actually, it is " people who watch only Fox News have less knowledge than people who watch NO news at all". It certainly is pathetic, but they continue to deny reality.”
“The actions of Ted Cruz cost the country 42 billion dollars. Obama called his bluff, and the GOP lost, but Cruz and his buddies will not admit it and are determined to wreck the ACA only because of their hatred of Obama. Remember that in 1935 the Republicans fought against Social Security and later against Medicaire, the two most successful programs in the history of America. Also to blame are the few " moderate" Pubs who cowardly refuse to condemn the lies of Cruz and the other neo- conservative anarchistic nihilistic Republicans.”

“The Danes are fortunate in that they do not have a Political Party like the GOP which tries to prevent all advances, and is now attempting to do everything possible to destroy the ACA, in spite of the fact that millions of Americans have no health insurance. Could that be one of the reasons that they are happier?”

“Is that the main gist of this thread? The ACA?”
Rikke Roesdahl on Oct 26, 2013 at 11:26:42
“We could easily have one of them. Anyone can form a political party and run for office, but they need 2% of the votes in order to be part of the government. The difference here is that even if such a party managed to run for office - we wouldn´t vote for them :-)”
“The ACA, commonly called ObamaCare, is ALREADY a law and cannot be cancelled no matter what Koch and the Tea Party crazies are saying! They are now running scared about the possibility of being blamed if the debt ceiling is not raised in order to pay the government's past bills, not, as some think, the present or future ones.”

“A law cannot be canceled? Where in the world are you living?”
“We have the same problem on Block Island, a place where the electric rates are the highest in the country. Most of those who are objecting just happen to live in an area where they will see the windmills which are three miles offshore. Latest is that a whale might bump into one. They could just as easily bump into a ship, a very rare occurrence. In addition, any thing that Koch is against, I'm for!”
“The American killed by a drone was a terrorist intent on killing more Americans. It is perfectly legal to kill an enemy in a war. The unemployment problem was caused by the GOP who refused to regulate Wall Street, offshore banking and Standard and Poors!”
“Your comment is completely illogical. We can ban assault weapons, and require strict background checks to help prevent future murders. If a hunter needs 30 bullets to shoot an animal, he should give up and find a new sport. To- Splevich.
The majority of NRA members agree with this, not including LaPierre, their moronic President.”

“I agree except that most of these countries are in much worse trouble financially than we are. Even Australia is considering changing their perks.
I too read The Daily Beast, but there are times when they are both impractible and naive.”
