“Nicely said, ThankGodhesgone!
Well, I for one celebrate the fact that an"openly" Gay person is not dismissed from promotion when they are capable to do a job.
I was told that a co-worker was getting promoted over me because he was getting married, Now, I had at the time been with my partner for over ten years and had a daughter( this was 20 years ago)
and that is only the beginning.
my friends at IBM were fired because they were gay in 1984.
Just because they were gay.
ok?
I have lived discrimination, and I am not going back!
Never ever!
Oh, and my marriage was stripped from me this last year.
So, maybe I love the fact that a Gay person can achieve something without being stomped down, hated, killed like in Uganda , fired and spat upon like what some commentators have wanted to do to my family in this blog.

Thank you and have a happy new year!”

“PhilipB - I am so sorry that happened to you. One day soon, the people of this country will realize that love, no matter who it is between, will realize that families of all stripes will be an acceptable thing.

Hang in there. I, for one support you. And I'm sure there are many more.”

“Well said, Sockme
and fanned!
I appreciate your commentary and insights.
I do wonder beyond all of this what is else going on?
Well, either way, I agree and appreciate your considered and thoughtful commentary.

There is just something nagging at me that just does not feel right, or logical. I really do not know how to explain that. Perhaps you could expand on this? I am not disagreeing, but I feel like there is something more: an element not revealed.

I look forward to more of your comments!
Very best regards,

“I have to admit taking off the blinders is quite scary, Carlob.

Frankly, I could say lots more, but I find this all very disturbing, and it is not the first time.

When I was growing up, my family thought of me like Sherlock Holmes. I have a logical mind, and as a twin, I am open to what is going on: Not something I normally share, but something stinks here. i knew it from the start.”

Carolab replied on Dec 29, 2009 at 06:22:17

“Yes, it is very frightening. When I first started looking into things, thinking they didn't smell right, I used to go to bed shaking.”

“Well, I am interested.
What is going on?
Should I not ask? I mean,. I wonder if I am entering into too much of the truth?
Frankly, I want to know. i have to say i feel intimidated by even asking about what happened.
I want to know what is going on.
I have a good sense of things, and this does not feel right.”

Sockme replied on Dec 29, 2009 at 03:11:39

“What's going on in terms of Yemen, you mean?

Well the first thing is that it is very unstable - multiple faultlines, multiple threats to the government.

The second thing is that the US does not want to see the Yemeni government collapse - this would mean full-on civil war and chaos - an environment in which anti-US and anti-Saudi elements would thrive.

Thirdly, the US is maintaining an empire which is absolutely dependent on oil resources. It cannot afford to jeopardize its relationships to Saudi oil and the royal dicatators there.

So, the US is continuing a strategy it has employed for at least the last decade - which is supporting and propping up the government of Yemen (despite some important tensions at certain times like the first Gulf war).

There's a lot more to it all than this, but this is a brief and simple starter.”

“patriotrebel,
No, it is good to see other people such as myself who are "openly" Gay and are not discriminated because of that.
Many Gay people have been dismissed from high jobs when they are honest about who they are.
So, I celebrate the fact that an openly Gay person could have such a job. it means a lot to me, and to all Gay people.
It does, patriotrebel. it does.
Thank you and I wish you a very happy new year with all you family and your loved ones.
Sincerely,
Philip B”

“Thank you for your sincere response. I appreciate it very much. Usually, many of the posters here are quick to jump on anyone who just asks a question, but you're the first to respond to me in a kind and civil manner. Cool. Not knowing my background, most people label me as h8ful, just for asking a question. My wife's aunt is gay and is a transsexual. She helped us out many years ago when my wife and I had no place to stay...I never, never forgot that. She's a person with a big heart: she took in a young man stricken with AIDS, who was abandoned by his own family, and cared for him until he passed away. She's the only one from my wife's family who will hop on a plane in Hawaii to attend my kid's graduation in California. She is one of the very few people that I trust with my kids. Well, enough of that.

Happy new year to you too!”

“Well, you know, there are Gay and Lesbian people everywhere who do all kinds of great jobs. It is the "openly Gay" tag that says that not only do Gay people live and have passions about their life and jobs, but also that being honest about who they are does not dismiss them from being a capable human being, and the only tragedy is that good people should be denied jobs because they love someone!

The unreasonable hate that Republicans would want to continue is a great stain on them: they are the party of hate and intolerance and ugly discrimination. This official policy by the republican party which has embraced destroying innocent American lives and denying rights to American citizens will be seen for years to come as am ugly hateful aspect of this party.
SHAME on those who hate people they do not even know, and their attempt to marginalize good American citizens who only want to do a good job.”

“I celebrate this holiday as a time to be with my family and friends, and to show them how much I love an appreciate them.
I also appreciate people I have never met; the performer who makes mucic and gives a great show, or the off duty medic who comforts a dying woman, the traffic sign lady who welcomes children near my house in the cold morning and knows all the childrens names; I appreciate so many other people who sing or are un-sung.
Happy Holidays, all, to many here I have never met and yet have come to know.
