“Sustainablitity is far improved by utilizing modern technology. technology such as clean coal and nuclear can provide ample poer and clean air. Developing natural gas can do this as well. Modern hybrid agriculture provides yields many times "organic" methods; relying on dated methods would require far more land and would cause many millions to starve.

“When "We the People", have finally had enough of wholly owned subsidiaries running our duly elected "public servants", change will come with one simple law.
PUBLICLY FUNDED CAMPAIGNS ONLY !
Remove the money, remove the influence!
We know the answer to clean government includes a 20 year min. sentence for any participant in a bribe, both the giver and receiver. What is a campaign donation if not a bribe, at the levels these criminals play on. Policy for profit brought us Iraq. Have we not had enough yet. Policy for profit brought us the deregulation of every donor class industry and are the results still not clear folks?
You get what you pay for. When we pay the freight for the election process as a free Nation, we control our destiny.
Only a naive fool would believe campaigns donations into the millions are not influence purchases.
Free and equal airtime on all public airways and cable systems that traverse the public way for qualified candidates. Stiff fines and sanctions to any agency, candidate or organization that violates the truth in advertising standards that will accompany the shiny new election law. A citizen drafted board of standards that is drawn annually from all 50 states to oversee the accuracy of ALL political advertising including attempted political propagandist/pundits.
Only when we can trust the content of the messages the media to has been granted the right to feed us, will we have a chance to lift ourselves out of this darkness!”

You are so right on with this. And that law must say that candidates also can't use their own money for unfair advantage. But it seems that not enough voters are yet demanding equal and publicly funded elections where the best candidate wins (rather than the candidate willing to scrounge up the most donations).
Our reps seem in no hurry to pass such a law though, so voters must make more clear how much they want such a law.
For now, Americans could just agree to stop voting for anyone who runs and accepts donations or uses their own money to gain an unfair advantage to win public office. (But these candidates with no money for advertising would need lots of voters to volunteer skills and time to help them get their word out)

If enough states passed such a law, our United States Constitution would be amended and this country would be back on the right track.”

“I agree. I was thinking yesterday that there is no effective difference between a bribe in a third-world country and a "campaign contribution" here. The puzzle is how to get it moving. The status quo, including the elected representatives, have no incentive to change things, and an honest politician cannot survive and be successful in the current hog wallow.
I don't see this sweeping change coming from inside. Even when you get past the legislative process, you get beaten by the Supreme Court and the doctrine of "commercial free speech". This will need to be a grass roots thing. Perhaps a reality-based counterpart to those ridiculous corporate-sponsored "Tea Parties" that could unite people from all parts of the political spectrum, that will show that people will hold their elected representatives accountable, and have the force to trump the onslaught of money that will oppose it.
This is a watershed moment in our history, and in the words of Lincoln, will determine whether "this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."”
