“they let Hamm keep his medal even after it had been determined that the correct winner was the Korean - so they will likely keep their medals in the unlikely event that this is properly dealt with by the IOC”

“there's a reason that they changed the rules, it wasn't some arbitrary decision to create a rule for the sake of a rule - gymnastics training on this level prevents a human from being able to develop into an adult, that's the potential harm being done to these developing young girls and boys.”

“because of the very specific long-term damage over-training for gymnastics does to human body - it prevents you from being able to grow into an adult, so this can be bulked into human rights issues”

“What's wrong with making people show up early to pick up the machines? Is being on time a sin? This compromises a fair election on so many levels that I cannot even begin the list of problems (and it shouldn't be necessary) with this!”

“and now he's trying to buy a house in dallas. another city where he doesn't belong and isn't wanted. he doesn't even have the sense to recognize that the local government there went heavily democratic, houston is leaning that way, and he is the reason that texas may finally return to being democratic for the first time in decades.

he's squarely the product of his privileged connecticutt upbringing, and that's where he should return. in stamford, where he was born, they even named a street after him. they can have him, and they should be decent enough to take responsibility for him. but then they also produced LIEberman, so what can you expect? i guess i can't blame them too much for not wanting two albatrosses around their necks.”

“Which would have been common knowledge had the media done its effing job in 2000 and pointed out that our slack-jawed moron in chief bought the damn ranch right before he decided to run for Governor of Texas. But no... they were too busy telling us Al Gore was too smart to be President and was a whiner about recounting votes.

Yeah, how'd that work out for us?”

“That's been my experience too - rich, white women. I have friends who study it as the religion that it is, and not as an 2007 version of the Jane Fonda get-skinny-workout. It's an unintended consequence that it's for the fashion conscious, rather than the spiritually conscious.

If it's for vanity, it will cost you a lot of dollars. If it's for the soul, it's an at-will donation.”

“Escapism - Entertainment - Indulgence

i can only dream of living in a world where the big issue of the day is: "who took my Minolo's at the baby shower?"

i've appreciated the chance to take the only vacation i can afford: a 30 minute censored rerun of fictional characters who live like royalty and without restrictions (couldn't afford cable to watch them while it was hot)

but as soon as the credits roll, me and my $2 flip flops grab my laptop (I'm still paying off) and realize that to a lot of people in the world (with real problems) can justifiably call me out as a pampered whiner, too”

We have no idea how Obama can rip up McCain, because he's too busy walking on egg shells trying to "nicely" play numbers games with Clinton - they should be both taking this extended nomination process to strengthen the party rather than expose the soft underbelly

They should both be attacking McCain - hell, let's get the 3 of them in a debate - see what happens - that should illustrate to the country who the winning party really is...”

“Arianna, you answered your own question and, Racetracker, you're right on target. It was their complicity in this scandal - and self prosecution of the likes of Ronnie Earle is as likely as Bush owning up to his mistakes.

And this isn't new - this sort of tactic has been going on for a LONG time. There are far too many "communications" firms feeding the MSM with junk food that it's become just part of doing the news business. Most of us awake folks saw through their bull---- from the start anyway, so when I read it, all I could think was "DUH!"”
