Bill Moyers Retiring From Weekly Television

Bill Moyers Retiring From Weekly Television

Commented Nov 21, 2009 at 00:22:01 in Media

“Bill Moyers has been an intelligent and thorough journalist during a time when that field has hung up its collective integrity to dry. His reports have dared to tell the truth, so much so that the Bush Administration tried to silence him and actually were able to do just that by canceling his previous show.

The idea that we won't have Moyers advocating for the truth makes me wince and leaves me greatly saddened. Having said all of that, Mr. Moyers is right, he's certainly put in his time and at his age, he deserves some "time off" from a weekly grind. However, I have a hunch that we have not seen the last of this great man...”

Bill Clinton Blasts Olbermann For Politicizing Health Care Event, Refuses To Go

Commented Nov 20, 2009 at 23:27:07 in Politics

“I stopped caring about what Bill Clinton had to say a loooong time ago. This latest nonsense that his holiness doesn't want to participate in HEALTH CARE because a commentator politicized the issue is sheer lunacy!

For one thing, it's a benefit for people who do not have the funds or wherewithal to get health care (what could be bad about that?) Secondly, who the heck politicized health care in the first place? Both political parties!

Shessh, you would think that Clinton would be shamed by his own hypocrisy!”

“Sharon Osbourne has proved herself, once again, to be a crass and viciously nasty woman. This kind of outright slander has been done to hurt another for a laugh, is downright seedy.

I was never much of a fan of the family, but Sharon's disgraceful performance on that cheesy talk show merely sets her aside as one of those people who loves mocking those less fortunate...it's positively shameful!.”

“You need to read more on the subject before being so insistent on one point of view. As I had suggested, we needed to wait until more information comes out before making any final judgments on the issue.

“I hardly suggested it was an Osama bin Laden attempt of terrorism, I did however suggest that it MAY turn out to be a premeditated attack; these two are not necessarily the same.

And I find it curious that you seem to have some kind of super secret connection knowing what can be or can not be a terrorist attack...perhaps you should work for the Dept of Defense as an adviser?”

“If all of this wasn't such a crucial and critical problem, it would "almost" be funny, however the continued insistence of the GOP to be the PARTY OF NO have made any advancement towards the benefit of our citizenry impossible!

The idea that BULLYING is indeed any sort of tactic to be employeed by a supposedly civilized nation is ludicrous and must be put in perspective. I almost want to cringe that I can no longer even ask WHY the media isn't addressing these isses, that at one point in our history would have been covered quite clearly.

Unfortunately, I see this nation on a downward spiral and I'm not sure any of "us" can do much about it. Let us all hope that the turn of events is reversed...”

“I must say that Beau Friedlander's theory about why this happened seems just a bit overzealous and premature, as it's all simply too easy, too flip and perhaps also wrong. I think that IF we need to take a moment or two to find out more evidence about this event, we just may discover another answer here.

All of the facts are not in on this horrid affair and although Mr.Friedlander's opinion may end up being correct, I would offer there may be many other reasons why this happened that could bring us closer to the truth.

Although the media has not deemed this to be a terrorist related attack, it most certainly seems to me this may have been premeditated and cooked up beforehand to kill off as many Americans as possible BEFORE our country sent them into harms way. He was trained by our military, understood our military and had the proximity to our military that gave him the opportunities needed to perform something as atrocious as what we witnessed today. Having said that, at this point we simply don't have enough facts to really know anything for certain.

So, did he just "crack" under the strain of deployment OR was it something else? I think it behooves us all to take a minute and think and watch and wait before we come to our canned responses as to why this happened...”

“For goodness sakes, FASHION IS NOT ABOUT REALITY, it is about the fantasy of beauty in different forms and draws inspiration from the different venues. The author of this article likes to call this "Black Face" to which I take offense actually and is insulting to anyone with a sense of an adventurous aesthetic.

Fashion is about makeup, clothing, fantasy and your imagination; thus this piece merely took it all to a new level. I would have loved to have seen myself turned into many beautiful and varied nationalities and do not see how that could be construed as anything hateful or bigoted.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and it's kind of fun to see ourselves transformed into someone else of a different nation, time or age. VIVE LA DIFFERENCE!”

“I can't say I'm surprised by the fall of CNN as their supposed news division has been a weak excuse for good journalism. Unfortunately, that network hasn't had objective and accurate news for many a year.

Sure they occasionally get it right, but their news is interjected with opinion pieces while being described as unbiased reporting. It's a disgraceful joke and it appears the public has begun to catch on.

Unless and until the government does something about monopolies, what once was the peoples greatest source and protector; our sacred cow of journalism, has now become more like a fatty steak gone bad.”

“NO ONE has earned the right to be B&t@HY...no one! Just because someone has achieved a modicum of success gives no one the benefit of being cruel or nasty to another person.

I've met Bette and I can concur with Bronson's assessment, she (and her entourage) are cruel and nasty people who don't seem to give a hoot who they step over to get to the next stoplight.

Tom and Denzel I haven't met, but it doesn't matter, they have no reason to put anyone else down just because they aren't them.

This is total and absurd swill; one that is powerfully thick with hero love, instead of clear sight. People can watch or not watch these people in the movies, that's not really the point, the point is that they are no better than you nor me; they just may have one heck of a lot more money than either of us. That alone gives no authorization to be disrespectful to anyone..”

Javida replied on Oct 22, 2009 at 11:41:20

“Those who are completely free in this world know that simply having lots of money is an empty quest. There's nothing there. Yes, you can fly wherever and buy whatever, but it's all so limited it becomes empty after awhile. And don't even think about managing all that money. It's a huge amount of work and stress to manage money effectively. It's just not all that. Just ask any lottery winner or someone who's loss great sums of money. Easy come, easy go.”
