“Some perspective on this people...

Nigerians celebrate Christmas with setting off fire-crackers. The questions are, is this particular Nigerian visiting the United States for the very first time? Was he engaging in his country’s practice of celebrating Christmas with fire-cracker? Did he choose the very worse place to engage in his celebrations?

The mere possession of fire-crackers and displaying them on a plane should get this idiot (and I do not use the word ‘idiot’ lightly) charged with terrorism. But let us remember not everyone is aware of our laws, security concerns, customs and way of life, I am just saying...”

“This is NOT the comprehensive health care bill we were promised! Taking out the Medicare expansion will still leave at least 15% of people living in the State without health care!!!! That's 52 million people!!!!! Plus there is no Government insurance plan and as it looks now, no coverage for abortions.

This bill is a disaster. We should be able to pass a universal, comprehensive health care plan that will cover all people living within the borders of the United States. Anything less is not acceptable.”

jmpurser replied on Dec 16, 2009 at 09:22:29

“Agreed, but both the Medicare expansion and the "public option" were attempts at getting better results without changing anything. That's a fools errand. We need real reform, not a PR job.

Single payer is the one answer that everyone knows will address all our needs at the lowest cost. Furthermore it puts you on the same health care plan as your representative, senator, and their mothers. Think they might take better care of THAT plan than they do Medicare? Or the "public option"?

There is no substitute for real progress just as there is not substitute for real reform. Do what you did, get what you got. Do you LIKE what we've received over the last 30 years? If not then start voting for real change.”

“After we pass the Health Care Bill, we need to work on a Housing Rights Amendment. A home is essential for people to get ahead in this country. No one should be without a place to live, nor be forced out of their home. We need to recognize that having a place to live is a Human Right. How shameful is it that we have 1% of this country living in massive houses that could easily house 10 families each. Everyone living in this country should be entitled to place to live. There needs to be a limit on size of homes and regulate how much property one person really needs.”

oldngrumpy replied on Dec 01, 2009 at 15:06:18

“While I do not condone acts of violence, we need to ask the difficult question why these four cops were targeted by this man. There is a long history of Police abuse in this particular area and the people who live there are fed up. When our Peace Officers start acting like the criminals they claim they are arresting, we need to seriously reform our law enforcement.”

“You do realize that by the time Clemmons was charged in his third crime spree that sent him to prison in Arkansas he had already had to be shackled to the courtroom desk for making violent threats towards the judge. In another he took a padlock and tried to hit a bailiff with it, only to hit his mom. In another, he tried to get the bailiffs gun out of his holster as he was being led to the courtroom.

On top of that, during a domestic dispute with his wife in which the police were called this past May of 2009, he punched an officer and attempted to further harm him before being wrestled to the ground by other officers on the scene.

This man has a very violent criminal history and long documented hatred of authority and police officers.”

“This bill only insures that 94% of American will have Health Care Coverage. That leaves nearly 21 million people without health care. TOO MUCH! Break this down it could mean 5 million families that are left holding the bag. At an average cost of $7,000 per year, its only $147 BILLION and we achieve our goal of universal health care.

This probably doesn't even count the millions of immigrant workers that are being paid below minimum wage by the criminal corporations that exploit their labor.

We have the power in the Senate to get this done right. Tell your Senator that EVER person living in America should be covered.”
