“As the truth finally comes out, we see that the right wing nut jobs that are trying to paint this as a act of terror by Islam will ultimately fail.

It is becoming highly unlikely that one lone shooter did this much damage and the fault of many of these injuries and probably some of the deaths is lying with "friendly fire".

No one can prove that the shooter cried Allah Akbar!. We only have the few unconfirmed words of soldiers under stress.

This man was under a lot of stress from years of being persecuted by christian soldiers, some of whom called him a camel jockey, among other names.”

“Oh, really? Let's see: this was an act by

-- who believed that the "war on terror" was a "war on Islam,"

-- and that the Taliban represented mainstream Islam,

-- and believed that Islam condemned Jews (and presumably Christians) collectively,

-- and believed that suicide bombers were acting in accord with Allah's will.

Just how ISN'T this an act of terror? If not by "Islam" as a whole (which even the 9/11 attacks weren't), certainly by a practitioner of Islam, convinced that he was acting in accord with his faith. What more do you need, an official al-Qaeda membership card signed by Osama bin Laden in his wallet?”

My Action Plan: 15 Things Every American Can Do Right Now

Commented Oct 22, 2009 at 09:12:34 in Politics

“Here are my top things we need to do:
1) Increase taxes to 65% like they have in Denmark
2) Severely reduce the size of the US Military and reduce its portion of the Federal budget to just 10%
3) Stop giving tax breaks to religions
4) Make the "Right to a home" a constituional amendment. This will eliminate homelessness.
5) Pass the Fairness Doctirne and demand that fake news organizations like Faux News give equal time to fact based commentators.
6) Hold fearmongering commentators like Beck and Limbaugh accountable for thier seditious talk.
7)Place all oil companies under the direction of the federal government, and severely reduce the amount of oil being produced in America. Use federal grants to help non-oil based corporations develop safe earth technology.
8) Pay off our debt to the United Nations
9) Dismantle all nuclear warheads
10) Push for a global Living tax to help underdeveloped nations.”

1. World peace.
2. No war
3. No crime

The answer is always easy. Its the solution that's difficult.
However, your point number 4 has some merit. Few people know that the revolutionary period was influenced largely by one of several books, Second Treatise on Civil Gov't, John Locke. Locke proposed a century before the Declaration of Independence the natural right to Life, Liberty and Estate, which was subsequently picked up as Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. This highlights an earlier post on Stakeholders v. Citizens. Please refresh my memory.”

“On this National Day of Service, I urge all Americans to open their hearts to the the millions of muslims living in the States today and to take the time to talk to these people who have been so persecuted the past eight years by the Bush Administration. Open your minds and learn about something outside the little cubile you live and work in. They were made the scapegoat for a terrible war for oil that continues to this day, costing more than 1 million innocent lives to be lost and tens of millions of people to be displaced, and billions of dollars to be wasted that could pay for the health and welbeing of ALL people living in America.

Remember today those who lost their lives because of the crimes of Bush and Cheney. Remember the anger you feel and pledge your service to our President to move this country forward.”

“The far right are hoarding guns and ammo. They are clearly building toward something big.

Its time to repeal the 2nd Amendment, or at the very minimum, make it hard to obtain a gun in this country.

Start by taxing ammo and use that money to educate our children against the use of guns.
Restrict the length of hunting days in a year. Stop the "sport" of wholesale slaughter of wildlife.
Make 21 the legal age of gun ownership and use.
Hold gun Manufacturers accountable for every gun they produce. Keep a nationaly registry of gun owners and ammo purchases.
Make gun owners take a psych exam to prove they are mentally stable to own a gun.
Repeal CCW legislation across the board.
Prohibit the sale of toy guns
Require all gun owners to hold $1,000,000 in insurance before purchasing a gun.

These simple steps avoide the whole NRA's "Taking guns away" arguement and will change the culture of "Guns as toys" that many people subscribe to. Will it stop all future gun related violence? No, but it will help shape the future and in two generations, our children won't even think twice about gun ownership.”

Soon I, a complete stranger will be able to tell you what to eat, where to live, where to sleep and with whom. In this lazy, celebrity driven, homogenized world, I bet you forget about where that hamburger came from and what someone had to do to get it to you, the moment you put your pudgy little hands around it. I don't forget about healthcare costs when another fat bastard has a heart attack in front of his TV after eating his 4th slice of pizza. Every time a house is built in a trendy area that kills the habitat , the homeowners should pay an additional 'fee' of $100,000 for the privilege of wrecking their part of nature. Every soccer mom that is addicted to the convenience of the minivan should be taxed to teach their fat assed children the virtue of public transportation. Banning ammo will not work. It's cheap & easy to make. Do you want to have illegal ammo factories littering the hills of Idaho?
I ignore your suggestion to repeal the 2nd amendment. Won't happen. Got any good ideas?
You think hunting is not a sport. OK, but do you understand that all humanity would not exist at all without having hunted for food? This skill must be preserved. As rising floodwaters inundate the world and wars without end for limited resources increase, governments may fall and we may once again be reduced to hunting/gathering. Not far-fetched. Coming in this century.
It is not quite "simple" to ban toy guns, require millions in insurance, nor to ban Concealed Carry. It would be incredibly complex, lengthy, and intrusive on other needs. Let's please fix energy and education.
Just like trying to stop drugs at the border does not stop addiction, treatment works better. Let's teach conflict resolution and anger management starting in grade school.

“We need the Fairness Doctrine and we need it now. Its time to muzzle the jingoistic mega-mouths of Limbaugh and Hannity. Some of the stuff these guys spout is almost treasonous. If not, then its certainly going a long way to ruin this country. The airwaves are the property of the people and our Government needs to take back control. Only when progressive voices start being heard on these decidedly one sided stations, will we finally succeed in shutting down the Right Wing Hate Machine.”

“Portnoy, I think what you just said is treasonous. Air america was tried and largely failed BECAUSE NO ONE WAS LISTENING!!! If people listened the advertisers would have been supported and the program would still exist. You sound like a nut. Someone should shut down people like you with your Left Wing Hatred.”

“Not so much muzzle as dilute their message with alternative messages and view points.”
