“Well, I do stand corrected. The dog is obviously that photographer's Penelope.

I am telling you though, with that hat on and those eyes, forehead, and snout, it is EXACTLY like my Pugsley at about 1 year old. Black pugs often have that same bite and forehead. Even looking at the photographer's other pictures, Penelope looks more like a pug than any other Frenchie I have seen.

She is a beautiful dog either way.”

“She is a beauty thats for sure. Enjoy your baby ! I miss mine soooo much. Nothing beats the unconditional love of a pet and for me a dog !! Have a wonderful Holiday all you animal lovers out there !!”

“Ask him that question and you might be surprised. I know of a Catholic church that collects a $2 donation for lighting a candle. The money from the collection box comes up missing regularly. The priest overlooks it and refuses to secure the box with a lock. People also steal the candles. The priest just looks at it as part of the cost of the church.”

“Google "french bulldog picture" and "black pug picture" and you will see the difference. There are differences in the eyes, snout, and forehead. The picture is of a younger pug. Black pugs do not look exactly like fawn pugs. I have photos of my black pug that look almost exactly like the one above.”

“Sorry Principaldad,

It is a French bulldog; Check out the site of the photographer !! The curved forehead and under bite...I love pugs and boston's too...But it's a FRENCHIE !! check it out..It is a French photographer with sever pictures of his French bulldogs.

“I can see how you would think it looks like a French Bulldog, but it is a YOUNG pug. You can tell by the eyes and the shape of the forehead. It looks almost exactly like our pug looked at that age. Black pugs often have different features than fawn pugs. The wrinkling around the nose is not as pronounced when they are younger.

Other than the white patch on the face and chin, it looks exactly like our Pugsley. In fact, I have a photo that looks almost exactly like this one, right down to the Santa hat.”

“You are mostly correct. I don't see stealing as ever being moral; however, it is going to be one of the results when you get a situation where the gap between rich and the poor grows too large (another, more extreme result is revolution). It is wealth redistribution by force, and it has happened throughout history.”

“I read the guy's actual sermon and looked at some of his statements about it. He seems to be trying to make a statement about how society needs to make help more forthcoming. He puts it kind of badly though. He is stating that if you have no other choice then you should do it, like if you are up for assistance but it is caught up in bureaucracy. It is more about frustration with the system. He may or may not be overstating that problem.

Either way, I don't think it is a good idea because people tend to take things like this too much to heart. After all, look how people misuse the concept of "the Lord helps those who help themselves."”

“I think any person actually hungry enough is going to do whatever it takes to eat (i.e. survival instinct) so I can't picture someone in the low point of their life in today's world actually wondering whether "The Church" or "God" would approve. After all, if any of us go long enough without eating, we can ASK him/her!!!!!!! ;-)”

“That would stand to reason. In fact, I know of a priest (Catholic instead of Anglican) that would intentionally overlook a small amount of pilfering.”

“Based on the ongoing discussions, etc. here I'm starting to change my thoughts here that this guy was plain out "wrong". Perhaps this is more of a political statement to his congregation that may be suffering from big unemployment numbers and going hungry at night. Again, sounds like someone taking the "haves" versus "have nots" agrument to the next level. The "haves" made all they have off of the now "have nots" so................”

“Interesting theory, except that this is the Church of England. They have not had that issue. Perhaps you were just looking for an opportunity to be critical.”

Loophole replied on Dec 22, 2009 at 22:41:23

“I'm not religious and I don't believe in "church morality". But take a look around - we're living in a hopelessly immoral and/or amoral country. Us sheeple need to start creating our own morality which, for me, would start with wealth redistribution which is kinda what shoplifting is.
And, by the way, comparing it to child molestation is just dumb.”

“Humans don't always stop growing physically at 15-16. Many continue to grow up to 18-19. Personally, I grew more than an inch after I turned 18.

If you want to really examine it, then there is really no single marker of adulthood. Instead it is more of a continuum that occurs from the age of puberty and generally evolves until the mid-20's. This includes physical, emotional, and intellectual factors. 18 year olds are usually physically mature; however, they are typically not emotionally as mature as someone in their mid-20's. This, of course, varies from person to person and is partially dependent on that person's environment.

There is a reason that the drinking age is 21. There is also a reason that rental car companies will often not rent to people under 21. These types of restrictions are not limited to the US, and they are not even that new. There have often been certain age restrictions for certain things. For example, age limits for serving in certain government posts exist in many countries.

However, as a practical matter we as a society must choose ages for certain levels of adulthood to kick in. Hence the driving age, age of legal maturity, and drinking ages. By these ages most people are capable of at least dealing with the responsibilities on a limited basis, even if they are not completely equipped.”

“"What other species other than humans is considered still a child a decade after reproductive ability is set? "

There are very few species that live as long as humans. However, dogs can reproduce as early as 6-8 months but are not considered adults until 1 year at the earliest (some consider even a year old dog to still be a puppy). This is nearly twice the age of reproductive maturation, not unlike humans.

I am not arguing against your overall point or explaining away the act. Just pointing out that your argument has some holes.”

“You do have a point. I suppose one could consider the cessation of growth to be the marker of adulthood instead of sexual reproduction. For human females this is around the ages of 15-16 which would still make an 18 year old an adult. A young adult but an adult none the less. When one considers that people used to die in their mid thirties our society does extend adolescence beyond what is sensible.”

“I considered it briefly, but for multiple reasons I chose not to do so. First, that particular mall has tons of cameras and they use them. Second, I ended up having to park over half a mile away. That is a long walk to vandaIize someone. There was also a mall cop behind us. Barney Fife refused to do anything about the guy, but I would have been in jail if I had retaIiated. Last, in the end I am just not that maIicious.

By the way, today is, ironically, the 7 year anniversary of that incident.”

The question was obviously hypothetical. It was about what side a person would be most likely to jump to based on the limited knowledge of what happened.”

“True story. I was looking for a parking space at a huge mall and there were absolutely ZERO parking spots. I looked for at least half an hour. Every time a person got to their car, somebody else would get there first to take the spot.

Finally, I drove to the main exit and followed a couple of people out to their car. I waited patiently in my old pickup (with my blinker on) while they loaded their packages and got in their car. As I was sitting there a black Mercedes squeezed past me and stopped to wait for them to leave (even though they barely had enough room to pull out now).

Upset, I got out and let him know that I had been waiting for that spot (duh). This colossal pr-ck had the nerve to make a face at me and laugh.

I am not saying the girl in the story should have gone after the guy with an ice pick....but I understand.”

“That's the point I'm trying to make. Whether or not cutting off another driver for a parking spot is legal or not isn't the issue, it's whether it is moral and good form to cut off another driver, and by any reasonable standard it is not.”
