“I can't get into this hashtag. There's too WAY much aggressive sloganeering and not much thoughtfulness or real information. I've been a victim of violence myself but it wasn't aggressive sloganeering that helped me recover.”

“That may be, but when things trend like this on social media, it opens a conversation, which is what DOES help.”

“Well said. It seems at every turn there is another obscure slogan someone is pushing and absolutley no debate .”

“The son is a snob too. He has Tolkien's DNA. That doesn't make him Tolkien. His opinion is just his opinion.”

“Yeah, he only helped his father write his books, and his father only wrote the books for him and his brothers and sisters. He only finished Tolkien's books after his father died (and with his permission). He only does what his father asked him to.
“These drug warriors are not adjusting well to the new reality that Americans are changing their minds about drug addiction and how to fight it. For a long time these drug enforcement types had a very cozy relationship with the government and with the public, to the point where they thought it was our job to listen to them on this issue. Now the public is changing its mind and changing that relationship and these changes are not sitting at all well with the drug enforcement crowd. The public is telling the DEA we want legalized hemp, we want legalized marijuana, we don't want so many people in prison. The government is now listening to the public instead of to the DEA, and it's the DEA that is expected to do the listening now.
Not the position they expected to be in, ever. Having to listen to the government and obey the government instead of telling the government what to do and expecting the government to listen to them.
They should learn from the police in Colorado, who have found a way to make peace with the public that is changing its mind about all of these issues right now.
Make peace with the American public that is changing its mind on drug policy, or quit your job as a public servant. Those are the choices open to Leonhart now.”
“She's a Bush holdover. Obama merely kept her on as a nod to Republicans. She's trying to keep Bush administration policies alive. The only support she has in the government is from Republicans. Those are the ones fighting in her corner. If she hasn't been fired yet, you can blame them.”
“Russia did not start the first Cold War. Russia was just one country in the Soviet Union. Although it was the biggest country in the USSR, since the USSR was not a democracy, its size did not actually matter when it came to power.
Power in the Soviet Union belonged to the head of the Soviet Communist Party. Here are the men who had that job in between 1930 and 1980:
Stalin -- from Georgia, not Russia.
Khrushchev -- from the Ukraine, not Russia
Brezhnev, from the Ukraine, not Russia
So it's not historically accurate to make an association between Russia and the Cold War, since the dictators who controlled Russia during and after WWII were not even Russian and no Russians had the right to vote on how those men ruled the country.”
