“Looks like the researcher quoted in the article considered "religious and spiritual activity" a positive indicator of brain health.
Where Christianity is not used as an excuse for authoritarianism, greed, power, etc.--that is, where it's expressed in its original intent of Christlikeness--it becomes a force for good, and distinctly unfriendly to the kinds of things we've been seeing in the national government since at least the Reagan years (and at many points before that, of course).
I think it's reasonable to say this is true of most other religions as well.”

Rebecca Gayheart Pregnant? Smoking With Apparent Baby Bump (PHOTOS)
Commented Sep 22, 2009 at 16:10:35 in Entertainment
“I know several women who tried to quit smoking after getting pregnant, and their OBGYN suggested they don't do it cold turkey because it causes more stress on the baby than nicotine. If they are truly addicted, it's better to quit systematically. Then again, she could be a terrible mother in the making. Point is, we don't know for sure, one way other the other...”
sychodelix replied on Sep 22, 2009 at 17:06:21
“It's very true. My wife couldn't help but smoke while she was pregnant and her doc said the same thing. Although she did drastically cut down, and it even eventually led her to quit altogether. Just trying it cold turkey when already highly hormonal is hazardous to the mother, child, and lead to getting things thrown at everyone else. Trust me :/”
LauraD replied on Sep 22, 2009 at 16:25:19
“I have heard the same thing from several people. Although, all of them were not encourage to continue smoking, but where instead encouraged to begin smoking cessation treatments immediately.”

“That's on the rating agencie(S&P, Moody's, and Fitch). We'd package the mortgage pools we bought off smaller banks and present to them before securitization They'd give it the AAA stamp and we'd move on. The influx of defaults came after rating. WAMU was guilty of giving mortgages to people that had no business having them, but when compared to the AIGs and CITIs of the world, one wonders why WAMU was shut down and they weren't.”

“Oh, did I mention corporate greed and blood thirsty wall street scum bags?
One of the problems is that nearly everyone involved is paid on commission. Loan officers, loan processors, real estate agents, titile agents, escrow officers, wholesale reresentatives, underwriters, all the way to the traders. Compliance is a joke, regulation is virtually non existant. It was like the wild west. I could write a book.”
