Why Aren't We All in This Together?

“i blame religious leaders, crooked congress, and right wing trickle down rich first leadership.”

blizb replied on Nov 17, 2009 at 08:46:12

“I agree because "trickle down" and "tax cuts for the rich" didn't work.

Then they cried that labor costs too much money and they wanted to keep the profits instead of shipping jobs overseas, not reinvesting in America, and no increase of jobs period.

They knew without laws, oversight, or regulation that the right wing always supports the rich, the banks and the corporations could just take the money for themselves which we see has definitely been done.

Those "poor" rich people, they will suffer so badly by losing one percent of the total corporation if they invested in hiring people.

Instead they overwork their people and departments or hire it out overseas so they can take the profits to have another jet, another mansion, another yacht, another piece of jewelry, another luxury vacation, or another politician.”

“I feel for the parents that are losing jobs, savings, ability to feed and house their children. The shock of newfound homelessness is happening to countless children everyday in this country, especially due to the recession and lack of jobs to be had. I couldn't imagine that conversation between a child and parent(s).”

Gay Rights Speech: What Should Obama Say Tonight?

Commented Oct 10, 2009 at 11:29:57 in Politics

“gay rights advocates have a lot of work to do at the grassroots level to secure more local districts and state legislature and congressional support. Otherwise, Obama will be handed a defeat.”

jcwtts1 replied on Oct 10, 2009 at 11:58:13

“See, I think the LGBT community has to move past the grassroots organizing right now. I think this is a nut up or shut up moment. We have to help the LGBT community and force congress to act. It is going to take will and it is going to take money. No group should have to fight alone, blacks didn't fight alone and women didn't fight alone. Those of us who are not LGBT have an obligation to help pass legislation that protects the rights of the last class of citizens who can legally be discriminated against in this country. We have to move past grass roots campaigning and start massive fund raising. When we vet candidate those of us who aren't LGBT have to ask, where do you stand on LGBT issues. We have to embrace it as part of our larger platfrom and actually talk about specific concrete goals, repeal DADT first, it will help with DOMA. Get the bill ready to go for the lame duck congress in 2010. Introduce it right after the election so that win or lose (and I think we will win) we have the votes to push it through. Lilly Ledbeter is the model all dems should use. It was passed the first day of the new congress, because it was ready in the last congress.”
