Why Joe Biden Should Resign

“This OpEd is a flat tire.
Oh, and then there's this:
"Of course, even with America standing guard, only 4 percent of girls in Afghanistan make it to the 10th grade, and up to 80 percent of Afghani women are subjected to domestic violence. As one of the Afghan women interviewed in Rethink Afghanistan sums up the current situation: "The cases of violence against women are more now than in the Taliban time."
So can we please put to rest the nonsensical rationalization that we're there for women's rights?"
Are you really suggesting that we just turn our backs and walk away? That they don't matter? That "we" no longer care?
What message does that send to them? To other nations? To the world? To us?”

“People need to restudy FDR and his failed policies that trapped our population into being more reliant upon big government than of themselves. His hatred for capitalism is exactly why the depression lasted so long. It's too bad that more people didn't understand that and reject his policies outright.
Capitalism in an of itself is not corrupt, abusive, unjust, or immoral - however, the unnatural laws the govern it are. For it is through these unnatural laws, favoring one over another, that force businesses to seek ways around them. It is also the unnatural laws we impose upon ourselves that limit our ability to produce products of value for resale.
Capitalism has been around since man made his first trade. Even Michale Moore exercises in capitalism to enrich himself and those around him by producing one-sided films that demonize instead of debate. Capitalism is the lifeblood of any well functioning society and those lacking it are dependent upon others who embrace it.
It would be nice to see Michael Moore broaden his scope to include all sides. But, knowing his films and his style, he'll demonize capitalism in such a was as to leave the only alternative available and the source of all our problems . . . more government!”

“The lack of a quality education is the single biggest source of poverty not only in the USA but around the world.
The move from individual education and thinking to group education and thinking has resulted in a dumbing down that has crippled more people than polio.
Educational institutions under the direction of the Department of Education have been less interested in producing intelligent individuals who question the world in which they live, to producing workers happy with just having a job and getting by. Anti-capitalism, pro-union curriculum's are but a part of the behavior modification processes ongoing in our nations school systems that transform people in to controllable instrumentalities of government and corporations alike.
Folks, you should download the free book: http://www .deliberat edumbingdo wn.com/Mom sPDFs/DDDo A.sml.pdf
It is written by Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt, a former senior policy official with the US Department of Education who discovered shocking information about the true goals of the Department of Education.

“I am not sure how you have defined education but I think that someone like Bill Gates would disagree with you. The dumbing down of America has nothing to do with formal education. It has to do with a lack of iniative and curiosity on an individual level.
The emphasis on consumerism is not a result of education it is a result of wanting to be like the guy next door. We all want to be Bill Gates. Read the book Outliers. We can't all be rock stars. That is what is leading to the greed and demise of this country. No one wants to learn their craft or put in the time. We all want it right now simply because we got up this morning and took a breath.”

I'll be interested to see if and/or how No Child Left Behind plays into her argument. I frankly think this ridiculous piece of legislation was specifically designed to stupid-ify the masses. What better way to do so than teaching kids to memorize and regurgitate rote facts, rather than to think and ask questions?
The public school system is supporting the growth of our military-industrial complex.
Don't think; don't ask questions; follow orders. Those who don't will be labeled ADHD or ODD and sent off to reform school (now called Residential Treatment Centers), in order to "modify" their behavior.”

“If what you say is true, why is this congress so opposed expanding nuclear technology? You folks should be doing everything you can to move us FORWARD!
The fastest way to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions is to quickly switch to non-polluting energy sources. Yet, this congress has been sitting on its hands doing next to nothing toward achieving that goal.
Moreover, this congress has done little to nothing to actually improve our failing electrical grid which is the essential backbone and indispensible requirement for any major shift toward electrical powered/su pplemented automobiles.
If Cap and Trade as proposed by the House and Senate are your only solutions to our problem than you can put it back in your pocket and just keep it to yourself. To artificially limit our ability to fuel the economic engine of the world by engaging in carbon trading is nothing but a money scamming scheme. Unless you actually work toward providing a safe, reliable, and dependable alternative energy source, the energy that drives our economy will continue to sputter and eventually stop as the wealth of the common man is drained away through higher taxes, higher costs, and strict limitations.
Additionally, you wrote: "Scientists now warn that the Himalayan glaciers which supply fresh water to a billion people in the region could disappear completely by 2035."

No, in this time of two active wars, national economic disaster, and national health care dialogue, we have little tolerance for Beck's open sedition. In many countries, in this day and age, he would be dragged outside and given the Mussolini treatment. It is because of the greatness and strength of this nation that he has been allowed to fester for so long.”

Republican Political Hackery and the Hate Crimes Bill
Commented May 07, 2009 at 14:50:48 in Politics
“Hate crime laws only serve one purpose . . . to criminalize thought.
The First Amendment gives everyone freedom of expression. Behind every expression, indeed at the heart of every 'form' of expression, are our thoughts. Thoughts provide the basis for our feelings, our emotions, and are the source of our motivation to behave in a certain ways.
You may not like what I think any more than I like what you think, but to add a level of criminality to what either one of us thinks endangers every form of expression we have whether its art, music, architecture, or public and private protest against actual or perceived wrongs.
If the laws that we have on the books to punish unlawful behavior are not sufficient, then the laws should be rewritten. However, to add additional weight to the 'thoughts' behind a behavior opens the door to criminalizing any thought that may lead any expression, criminal or not.
Assault is assault whether it's done to a man, woman, or child. Just because you call someone a name while you assault them does not rise to the level of becoming an additional crime.
We have conspiracy laws that can/should be used to criminalize behavior leading up to crimes against another.
As I see it, this law seeks to make some citizens more protected than others and circumvents the equal protection clause of our Constitution.”
