“I'd be concerned about anyone who makes a statement like, "We live at a time where violence is purposeles s."
When a person makes a statement that literally means nothing (this "time" is absolutely no different from any other time in the history of mankind in the sense she is describing) but indicates a personal belief in one direction or another, it opens up the possibility of unfair treatment for those subject to her decisions.
In general, people who make these kinds of statements (most importantly, politicians and those in positions of power) are either incapable of objective analysis or are corrupt and purposely trying to manipulate the audience. You can see more examples of this kind of sleight of hand tomorrow morning between 9AM and 10AM EST, and all day on cable newsiness stations.”

If anybody's gonna do it, it's gonna be O'Reilly. O'Reilly doesn't even allow people to "splain themselves". No time for that!! Huckabee's in for a real bruising!!
I mean, O'Reilly's a lot of things, but most importantly he's CONSISTENT, and doesn't show partisan bias. Like he says, he's not a Republican, he's a "Traditionalist"!!
Bring it on!!!”

Jon Stewart Explains To Conservative Pundits Why He Doesn't Like Sarah Palin (VIDEO)
Commented Nov 19, 2009 at 09:52:41 in Comedy
“Palin and her supporters provide a fantastically entertaining education.
"Yes, many Americans really wanted her to be vice president, and yes, some of those people actually want her to be president. " It's a fascinating reality, but it's most educational because some of the people holding this position were, just recently, among the most powerful people in our political system and our country.
Were it not for the "respected Republican insiders" supporting her, obliterating the facade of legitimacy for the entire right wing politics and media machine, she'd be long gone by now. But the right wingers can't help it. They have a driving need to express their adulation for her (adulation built primarily around her "differentness" from the stereotypical "educated elite" that the right wing hates). It helps us understand their mindset better, so we can more confidently reject everything that they stand for.
Then we get all the Palin family drama sprinkled on top and it's just a delicious combination. I could go on forever, but I'd just like to say thank you. To Karl Rove for standing by her. To John McCain for picking her. To the Republican base for embracing Sarah Palin and showing us all what you're really made of. You have made the job of every Democratic strategist that much easier going forward, and you've made the world a much safer place by dividing and marginalizing the "torture and war" party.
THANK YOU!”

“Indeed, there is no such thing as an impartial journalist. Never has been, never will be.
If you'd care to prove this, go out and become a journalist and see how long you can delude yourself into thinking you're being impartial. I'd say the bell curve starts from a few minutes for the truly self-aware, to a few years for the self-deluded.
But it's a worthwhile exercise for anyone who still says things like "X isn't an impartial journalist!"”
