So because we live in a oligarchy, ruled by the war profiteers, health insurance corporations and banks, that's where our money will go. Let the common people die of untreated illnesses and starve in the streets (or enlist). The war profiteers don't care about the struggling Americans. They only care about their bottom line. And they own our elected people.”

“From these sorts of desperate times spring dangerous demagogues. The people need to know that the reason they are in this situation is because the corporations care only for their bottom line and they have purchased our elected people. We don't make anything here any more because it is cheaper to make stuff other places and because the corporations that control this country cares only about its profits. So we need to make sure that the workers know just who is the enemy. It is not the undocumented and it is not the enemies that Beck and Limbaugh would have the desperate believe it is the very very rich and their corporations. Go take a drive int he Washington suburbs and check out the homes of the lobbyists. Those are the people who are the enemies of the working (or more likely non-working) poor.”

“Thanks for this. This is absolutely what they should do and every second of it should be covered by CSPAN. The bottom line here though is we do need a Constitutional convention. The Senate needs to be apportioned by population. What our ancertors devised was all right for their time but in no longer useful in the democratic process. We really need to retink all of this if we want to some day live in a real democracy. And need to take the money out of the system as much as its possible. This would mean 100% publicly funded campaigns and NO (expensive) TV ads of any kind. With a proportionally representative Senate and public financing of all election, we'd be all set.”

“It is just as easy to bribe a one term member of Congress as it is to bribe a 20 term member of Congress. We need to stop gerrymandering and that might take a Constitutional Convention to change those rules which I think are mostly states regulations. What we is needed is publicly funded political campaigns..no TV ads..no issue ads on TV. The candidates election campaigns must be 100% publicly financed. I've had to tell him not to mention it to me again and he has been good about this. Still, every now and again, when he can't control himself, he'll rant on about Kali shaking her skirts after 2013 to get rid of excess population. This person used to fancy himself a predictor of future events and would give advice to people. His predictions were always wrong, though some of his friends were stunningly good at predictions. “People make tons of money running after pot users and jailing them and buying planes to search for pot plants growing and equipment to search for hot spots where it is grown. The "war " on pot is a big big moneymaker for lots of Americans. Especially the for-profit jail companies, that have many lobbyists. This is why pot is still illegal in many states.
