Afghanistan Rights Monitor Reports Afghan War Kills 3 Children A Day
Commented Jan 07, 2010 at 11:46:38 in World
“Exactly correct. And for each person who loved one of those kids killed by us OR the Taliban, there will spring up another young person who only wants to kill Americans. We really should leave. The entrapment and killing of our CIA people really just demonstrated that we do not know what we are doing over there. Were it not for the need to make profits for our military industrial complex we'd probably leave. Our MIC lobbyists depend on neverending war.”

“If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...wha t garbage. We need campaign finance reform and all elections should be 100% publicly financed and no TV ads, no issue ads..free time on our, the public's networks for each candidate. Otherwise these ducks will remain in control of our country. Our government is owned by the ruling oligarchy. Our rulers want an extremely rich caste and then the rest of us to be low-paid underlings with no social services who will do the bidding of the owners. We'll be tugging at our forelocks soon. Arrugh.”

“These people are angry with us on many levels. Angry because we have supported Israell and not stood up for the Palistinians and because we had troops in Saudi Arabia and because of our attacks in George the First's turkey shoot in Iraq. Every civilian we kill over there creates more terrorists. Those folks are very sensitive to perceived invasions. In many areas, we have not been the good guys since World War Two, and shockingly some people think we ought not have bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Lots of people don't like us. We need to be nicer..”

“Thank you Stephen! (I say this as a person preparing to take an international flight back home to the USA tomorrow. Ugh).. Flying is already a major horror. And the US focus in Afghanistan (and still in Iraq) is likely only producing more people who will die to kill us. However it is making the war profiteers rich and allowing them to lobby and throw money at our elected officials.”

Three hours on the funway..th en crew announced that we were only allowed to stay on the runway for three hours (new rule!) so they took us back to the gate but we could not get off the plane because the airport was closed! So the 7 thirty PM departure was a 3 thirty AM departure. . Greetings from snowy Scotland.”

Women get stuck in caring after men who can't cook or clean or polish their own shoes. Having your own friends and doing what you want when you eant to do it...price less.”

“you are so very right here. The focus needs to be on campaign finance reform. U.S. citizens are wholly owned and operated by the ruling oligarchy of big corporations. these are the health insurance, banking and war corporatio ns..and soon you can throw in the jails corporations since we seem to be privatizing them lickety split. That will mean more people lobbying for more jails..and on and on. Remember that old lady who walked across the country years ago for campaign finance reform? Her name was Granny D. She walked at 90 or whatever to bring attention to the need for campaign finance reform. Maybe we all need to get together and walk across the country. I wonder if she is still alive that noble woman.”

“It is a gift to our owners. We live in an oligarchy run BY and FOR large corporations. Most of our elected people only care about the folks who pay for their campaign's TV ads..which is why we need to eliminate those ads.”
StJames replied on Dec 15, 2009 at 09:04:20
“That will never happen. The broadcast industry would join the fight against that type of reform...t hink how much revenue they would lose. AND, Americans would just end up paying twice as much for the privilege of watching television. Frankly, I think a great service could be done for this nation if someone could figure out a way to bring down the entire broadcast network... Stupidity would spread more slowly.”

“Campaign finance reform will NOT happen through appeal to logic and reason by the front door, but might come in by the back door through fear and terror. --- If a majority of the people perceive that it's time to throw out ALL INCUMBENTS, EN MASSE, that unmistakable revolutionary act will be interpreted by ALL NEW REPRESENTATIVES to be not business as usual, and that it's time to change the ground rules about elections --- that is, PUBLIC CAMPAIGN FINANCING. That is the only practical way in which I can see the good end result of PCF coming into existence, with a clean slate, through the back door.”
