“Some have criticized the law because it does not make applications for permits by convicted criminals and fugitives public information????

Since when can a criminal get a permit to carry in ANY state?? If someone already has a permit and THEN is convicted, the permit is instantly revoked, Some of the time it's revoked at the time of arrest.

Anyway, EVERYONE should be licensed to carry and trained to use a firearm. In the Cities where it is Mandatory, Crime has dropped to nearly nonexistant levels. Every state that allows it has had a substantial drop in ALL violent crime. When Criminals are scared, that is always a good thing.”

Earl J Hickey on Mar 17, 2013 at 03:20:31

“Crime is non existent in cities where firearms are mandatory is because those towns are populated with only a few hundred people. Try that mandatory firearm rule in someplace like New York city, the murder rate will skyrocket by a bunch of itchy trigger fingers.”

“Look, maybe there is a change happening. But I will never ever believe it's because of humans. It has happened before when humans weren't on this earth and it happened at the same dramatic rate. I do not believe we have the power to influence the weather, the climate or however you want to say it. All this is, is another scheme by the all too powerful of the world to spread the wealth of the richest countries to the poorest countries Governments. The people of those poor countries will never see a dime of that money, and the Climate will never do what we want it to do. We have to adapt, just like the animals used to do. Either that, or move, or die. Moving money around is not going to save anyone. If you people would at least TRY to think about this instead of just believing anything you're told, and maybe do a bit of research of you're own, you might start to understand the truth. If Al Gore truley believed in global warming, do you really think he would be burning so much fuel, using so much electricity, and selling his TV station to an OIL COMPANY??? This is all a SCAM and you people are ALL FOOLS!!! This is a NATURAL OCCURANCE and there's nothing we can do about it!”

This bill (most of it) it no different than this country has been using for years, the ONE thing that DOES scare the bejeezus out of me is the new law allowing indefinite holding by the MILITARY of AMERICAN CITIZENS on AMERICAN SOIL!! “Do you know how many people in the US own guns? By your FLAWED logic, everyone in this country would be dead by now. I think something like 99.9 percent of all legally owned firearms are NEVER, EVER used in a crime. So why in the world would you say a thing like that? I have a concealed weapons license, and have been very well trained. I have defended myself three times with my weapon in situations where I can honestly say I would most likely be dead if I was not allowed to carry, or even own a firearm. If law abiding citizens are not allowed to own firearms, the only ones who will have them are criminals, who will then have millions more UNARMED victims to choose from. I will never give up my guns, until they first show me they can disarm EVERY criminal in this country, period! But that is an impossible task, so.....”

“Wow, for the last few decades, schools have been cramming Liberal ideology down the throats of children. Nothing is ever said of that. Kids are indoctrinated into liberal thinking from the first day in classroom. Teachers who 'buck' the system are SLAMMED by everyone! Whatever happened to free speech, personal opinion and generating conversation through ideas? When I was in school (in the 60's and 70's) we talked about politics, BOTH sides equally. Our teachers did not tell us how to think like they do today, and for sure, they weren't punished if they left something on a board. We had civil discussions. Everyone respected the other persons views, even if they didn't agree with them. You see, back then, we were taught RESPECT, COURTESY, POLITENESS, the REAL meaning of the CONSTITUTION, and we made decisions with our minds, not our feelings.

Now, to the basis of what she said. At face value, it's wrong. But whoever is raising the stink about that probably doesn't care about the background of the story, they just want to punish her! They are sensationalizing this story just for publicity and to hurt her because somebody took it personally when they shouldn't have. People are just way too thin skinned these days. There are always going to be people talking bad about Democrats, and people talking bad about Republicans. People need to get over it and just get on with their own lives. That's the way it is, it's not personal. LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE!”

“Electric companies are one of the most Difficult to deal with, because most people don't have any recourse or any way to double check what they are doing/saying. I bought and installed my own meter so I could keep tabs on my electric usage. It's called a T.E.D. that comes with software so you can track usage over time. I've had three meters go bad over the last ten years. Every time, the electric company told me that was impossible, only to find out it was. I never received any refunds either, but at least I caught it quick and got new meters installed.”

Turns out, the pole where the main connects with the wire to the house was frayed and every time a squirrel would run across the line, the power would SURGE! Did I get an apology or recompense? NO!”

“What none of you people seem to understand, is ALL politicians have been selling us out for the last 50 years. We always get the least qualified person nominated out of BOTH parties to run for President? So we end up voting for the lesser of two evils instead of the better of two good people? There is a serious flaw in this system. That is why people are so upset. The VAST, VAST majority of people who don't like Obama (myself included) also hated Bush. Bush was a BIG Government, BIG spender, lying sack of #@%. Obama is furthering that tradition. . We're sick and tired of watching our country being spent into oblivion. Cover-ups about gun running, about Benghazi, about Solyndra, the payoffs to get Obamacare passed. We don't want a dictatorial strongarm government. TSA is a mess, The Border/immigration is a mess, we've lost our triple A rating, There are more people out of work and on food stamps now than any time in my 51 years (at least where I live) and certainly more than when Obama took office. And with the raising of taxes, higher healthcare costs, and four more years of uncertainty and most likely no budget, we are doomed for more hard times. Even Merkel, in Germany is preparing to lower taxes to stimulate the economy to increase revenue to the Government. It's a No-brainer. You either do what works for the country, or you PUNISH success and stifle it.”

bunsonburner03 on Nov 14, 2012 at 09:46:37

“This. I understand that people will make light of this situation simply because they believe it's foolish but there's a lot of people out here in the U.S that are fed up with the way our government has been running and are now looking at the Constitution and Declaration of Independence for inspiration and looking for a way to fix it.

The whole party sterotypeing is getting old too. Just because one has a liberal or conservative frame of mind DOES NOT imply a lack or excess of intelligence. Nor does it relate to how much they make, what kind of clothes they wear, etc.

I say get rid of both the Democratic and Republican parties and let the people of this nation elect representatives that actually care about more than the upcoming election, satisfying monetary supporters, and being the party's standard bearer.”

If alcohol and Tobacco are legal, why not pot? It just doesn't make any sense to me. There are two VERY good things that would come from legalizing the stuff. 1) A HUGE reduction in jail and prison populations, with a related reduction of stress on our justice system and courts. 2) It would Almost certainly put some of the Mexican Cartels out of Business and severely cut down on the cross-border drug trade. I would say those two things would be worth it in themselves. Smoking pot is not a 'dangerous' drug. I can't imagine we would have any severe social problems from doing something like this. I just don't think the Government can get it's head around not having CONTROL any more over another law. Big Government is all about taking freedom away, not giving it back. “This guy is not the first one I've heard of that this has happened to. Their was another guy in Chicago recently who defended his own life and went to jail. Felon or not, I think people should be allowed to defend themselves in their own homes. In most states, if not all, Felons are allowed to own Black powder firearms, crossbows, antique firearms, Airguns, stun Guns, pepper spray, knives, and a variety of other weapons. Any Felon can get a gun anyway (and most do) so why not allow it with a special permit and keep tabs on them? I know a few people who are felons for non-violent offenses who lost their right to own firearms. They are not a danger to anyone, but now they are no longer allowed to defend themselves with the same quality weapons the rest of us enjoy. They can't hunt, target shoot, collect, buy for investment, or compete in shooting competitions. Just because of a 'mistake' that didn't have anything to do with violence. I would also like to know what California considers 'prohibited' ammunition? Maybe the bullet didn't have that warning label on it that said 'this product has ingredients known to the state of California to cause blah blah blah, blah blah blah, blah blah blah (at a high rate of speed).'”

The next bit of BS you bring up is trying to mame people. In ANY self defense class, you are always taught to shoot until the threat is extenguished, (fatal) if at all possible. That will be for many reasons, but the first and foremost is that as long as they are still alive they are still a threat to you. The second is they will almost always come back. Third, they can sue you in some states (Crazy, I know), so you are always better off finishing the job.”

You are NO better than he is. You ALL contribute to the death of an animal every time you pick up a fork! But maybe you don't feel that way because you're not the ones who got your hands 'dirty' catching the animal yourself. But does that really make it any different? NO! This guy is self sufficient, and by the way, if the people along the East coast were more like him, they wouldn't be whining and crying about the government not being there for them as much as they are and they would be able to take care of themselves!
