Margarita Mojica, Pregnant Woman Crushed To Death By Printing Press, May Get Justice

Commented Jan 8, 2012 at 12:45:04 in San Francisco

“Yes, they will think twice about operating here in the US. What will happen is that the poor woman's family will get $6M and the remaining employees will get layoff notices.”

tp3366 on Jan 18, 2012 at 17:59:16

“Cant be said better. Too much protection/privilege here in the US. While those are required if it is more than the other countries we will have to get our begging bowls out. Why there is no employment here?? Mainmly because we are unable to produce provide services at a better cost effective price than other countries. Day by day our debt is increasing. We will be slaves to those who loan us. Our eyes will open one day, and that day may be too late...”

HUFFPOST HILL - Congress Upgrades Itself To Boarding Group 1

Commented Apr 28, 2013 at 11:28:06 in Politics

“Wow - lying at HuffPo - what a surprise. Congress did not allocate NEW funds to the FAA to stop the furloughs - they just slapped the Obama administration for making cuts in places that hurt the taxpayers the most. The FAA at the direction of the Administration chose the furloughs instead of cutting other areas because it would hurt the public. The Congress "clarified" to the FAA that such an action was wrong.

Now, wouldn't it be great if the Obama administration would stop playing politics instead of CHOOSING to harm cancer patients as you mention?”

“Did you forget that the DEMOCRATS controlled the Congress for the last 2 years of GWBs second term and also one of the houses of Congress during the first two years of GWBs first term? You cannot keep blaming GWB and the republicans for the Democrats failures.

Look up the C-Span videos of Maxine Waters, Barney Frank, and the other democrats in 2004/5 BLOCKING any oversight of Fannie / Freddie. Things probably would not have been as bad and could have been "managed" better had oversight started 4 years earlier.”

“Just as Reagan said, the only problem is that what liberals "know" is wrong.”

budalla on Aug 12, 2012 at 17:20:45

“Just keep in mind that even conservatives can't remember or get Reagan's
real record straight.  I listen to pundits and politicians invoke
Reagan's name, actions, and words these days and I have to laugh.
Seriously, I voted for Reagan in 1980.  I followed the news and was
active in politics.  I know what the man was about and remember what he
did. I even agreed with much of it *at the time.*  But time and people
change.  I have.  But it doesn't mean I don't remember or wish to ignore
what he did right AND what he did that turned out not so good for the
country.

Both political extremes live in a fantasy land ruled by confirmation
bias.  Simply put, they hear what they want to hear and dismiss anything
that runs counter to their beliefs.”

“You are right - it is too bad that CLINTON allowed the attack on US soil and did not do anything after the first bombing of the WTC, the bombing of the USS Cole, or the military bases overseas. You make yourself weak to your enemies and you open yourself up to this.”

PatrickforO on Aug 12, 2012 at 15:27:16

“Your handle seems curiously apropos. We already have a navy bigger than the rest of the world's combined and currently spend nearly HALF of all military outlays worldwide. What has made us weak to our enemies is our wrongheaded foreign and economic policies. The historical anticedents of international terror are economic, caused in most cases by the Washington Consensus (look it up, along with the 'dirty war' in Argentina, and how the CIA got rid of Allende in Chile and replaced him with Pinochet and educated 70 of Pinochet's people with Milton 'Freedom and Capitalism' Friedman - learn what actually happened to Chile's economy when these disastrous policies were put in place). The only place that terror seems to be political is here, where it has a decidedly right wing face.”

“You need the same items as you would for a voter registration, so it should not be too difficult. Also, people will have had ALMOST A YEAR to get the ID, I find it hard to believe that it would be difficult to find a few hours to take a utility bill or two to go get an ID.”

Obama: Debt Ceiling Deal Includes Bush Tax Cuts Trigger

Commented Aug 3, 2011 at 10:40:46 in Politics

“You do want them to expire on EVERYONE, correct, not just "the rich". If they expire on the rich, we potentially gain $800B, if they expire on EVERYONE we potentially gain an additional $3400B (over 4x as much) on top of that $800B.

I am in favor of rolling them back IF they are rolled back on EVERYONE as that is where the real money will come from. Unfortunately, that is not as popular as just "taxing the other guy".”

ScarlettMocha on Aug 3, 2011 at 10:45:43

“No, I only want them to expire on the rich. There I said it. Anymore questions? The rich pocket their money, so it's not put back into the system. The poor spend theirs so it will be in the system one way or the other.”

“Or better yet, why do we not control ILLEGAL immigration. Those "low wage" jobs are the ones that cannot be shipped overseas, they are for work here in the US. If we removed the 20-30M illegal aliens, there would be more jobs and also less taxes required for government services - a double win. Unfortunately, we won't do that and our country will continue to spiral down.”

“Some of the "fair" work conditions the unions demanded were that GM had to pay the UAW members to sit in a room and read newspapers and watch TV if they did not have enough work making cars. All of that UAW "anti-productivity" overhead was piled onto the costs of the cars, making them overpriced and removing money that could have been spent on R&D and quality improvements.”

“The unions with their crazy demands, like the one where GM had to pay UAW members to sit in rooms and read newspapers and watch TV caused much of what you said. SUVs were the only vehicles providing enough PROFIT to actually pay for the union demands - they could not sell a compact vehicle for a PROFIT with all the union overhead. The crazy union demands also kept money from R&D and other areas that would have helped the auto companies actual move forward. The UNIONS only cared for how much they could squeeze out for the CURRENT workers - company and future workers be damned. They got what they bargained for.”

“The unions disenfranchised the worker because they had to keep demanding more and more to prove their "worth". They did not work WITH the companies like in Germany and Japan. “We cannot afford to pay the union members what they demand for the actual SKILLS they have and SERVICES they provide. Those Toyotas Nissans and Kias that are assembled here are done by workers earning a paycheck here. That money then goes into the local economy, as does the money to the surrounding parts suppliers (also non-Union). They are able to succeed because they produce a quality product where the workers want to work WITH the company, not do whatever they can to maximize there piece - company be damned.”
