SELF DESTRUCTION... TOTALLY PATHETIC...

if ever I feel like wasted money. it was donating over 700 to the Obama Campaign... if I had know this is what I was going to get .. I would have just donated the money to Bernie Sanders & Patric Leahy”

“I am so sick of all these articles about unemployment as if its Obama's fault of all these job losses.. heck the US been losing jobs due to outsorcing and shipping jobs oversees for cheap labor.. this is about only one thing. .. THATS GREED..

companies in this country want you to work for little of nothing, barely want to give you any benifits of health care , just to save on their bottom line... THATS BIG PROFITS...

the jobs losses started in the 80's... w/ Ronald Reagan..... so this turn around is not going to be corrected in 11 months in office.. so people need to get real.. what the heck did you expect. a magic wan to be waved an the glory days was going to come back... BS...”

“I completely agree. Well put.”

MilwaukeeDan replied on Nov 24, 2009 at 00:12:49

“I agree, the job loses started way back with Reagan and not a president since has done anything about it. Back in the 1980s, many of my manufacturing colleages went to other sectors like real estate, construction, skilled trades, ect., many are again hurting today.”

Roses replied on Nov 24, 2009 at 00:03:59

“You are so right Ric!
I think that some thought that when Obama was elected, he would wave his hands, say the magic incantations, turn around three times and presto-chango the bubble that had been building for years and years, would not burst.

We all allowed it to happen. It will take alot to fix.”

Viper replied on Nov 24, 2009 at 00:00:40

“And with 40-50% of the population not agreeing with that cause... no moves are being made that would reverse it... which have to be a dramtic change in polcies and beliefs.. (free trade does not exist, it does not benefit the U.S. when you have year after year one trillion dollar trade deficits). .

The job loses are because all th jobs were based on a credit bubble that burst... that credit bubble for a time replaced the "REA:L" jobs outsourced and the deindustrialization.

Even here the idea of saving GM/Ford/Chrysler was not greeted well.. and yet that was 50% of what
was left of our industry.

Regards”

“umm its only been 8 months... and again.. HE CAN NOT WRITE LEGISLATION... we have a process in this country .. and its call legislation by laws through congress.. if you want results.. you seek it through your senators and congressmen.. the president can not WRITE A LAW”

Marcospinelli replied on Oct 10, 2009 at 17:58:39

“Where do you get these abzurd notions that the White House doesn't write bills?

Presidential administrations write legislation all the time and send it to the Hill. Even this presidential administration, Obama's, with his list of requirements for what must be in his healthcare reform policy. Baucus's bill is the White House's bill. Presidential administrations work with, dictate, lead, demand legislation, especially when their party controls both houses of Congress.

The Kennedy administration wrote the Civil Rights Act of 1964, for example.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Rights_Act_of_1964

Nixon and the EPA.

And who do you think wrote FDR's New Deal legislation?

Those are just a few of the most famous examples.”

“what did they DO?... ??? a speech??? did they direct or try to direct legislation?? if so// what was it??”

Marcospinelli replied on Oct 10, 2009 at 17:32:07

“Clinton was the first president to ever back civil rights legislation for gays. He sponsored and passed the Hate Crimes Prevention Act, which strengthened & expanded the DoJ's ability to prosecute hate crimes by removing jurisdictional requirements for existing crimes. And for the first time ever, it gave federal prosecutors the power to prosecute hate crimes committed because of the victim's sexual orientation, gender or disability. He also signed the Hate Crimes Sentencing Enhancement Act, providing for longer sentences where the offense is determined to be a hate crime based on sexual orientation.

Clinton also issued an executive order prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation in the federal civilian workforce.

Clinton also appointed the first ever openly gay person to serve as ambassador for the US. James C. Hormel -- U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg.

Clinton also endorsed legislation outlawing discrimination in the workplace (the Employment Non-Discrimination Act), a bill outlawing discrimination in hiring, firing and promotions based on sexual orientation, banning discrimination based on sexual orientation in the workplace, extending basic employment protections to gay Americans.

Clinton had his DoJ & the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission vigorously prosecute discrimination against people with AIDS, leading to actions against health care providers and facilities that violate the Americans with Disabilities Act.”

Marcospinelli replied on Oct 10, 2009 at 17:31:37

“This will be fun.

Among other actions, Carter ended the Public Health Service's labeling of gays as mentally disordered. Carter also named lesbian Midge Costanza the first female assistant to the president who also happened to be the first openly gay assistant to the president. The Carter White house held the first ever meeting inside those hallowed walls with a group dedicated to the interests of the gay community (the National Gay Task Force) to discuss a variety of gays' issues, including the denial of security clearances due to sexual orientation, tax provisions for same-sex households, and the military's policies regarding discharging gays.”

“as a gay man myself.. i can say YOUR SPOT ON!!!.. their is no gay emergency going on... no more than what went on in the Bush , Clinton, Bush, and Reagan years.. and no one was yelling and stomping their feet then.. so why now... prioritize is what the president have to do.”

DannyEV replied on Oct 10, 2009 at 15:02:29

“thanks for reminding us how long we've been waiting.

How long is long enough? if we followed your lead and perspective it would never become an agenda item EVER.

it has to be an "emergency"? What would constitute an emergency? the AIDS crisis in the 80s was certainly an emergency--and look how that was handled: it was ignored until the president's bud Rock Hudson got sick. so you think we should follow the Reagan example?

as a gay man you should be ashamed of yourself. In fact, from the sound of your posting, you probably are, which is part of the problem.”

Mr-Mikey replied on Oct 10, 2009 at 14:45:50

“If I could mod your comment up ala slashdot I would.

If only people would listen to common sense, Human rights are human rights.. But how secure are those rights when government and businesses fail spectacularly around you.

What good are those rights, when people are dying tens of thousands a year without health care. What good are those rights when hundreds of thousands are injured or killed a year in Iraq and Afghanistatn?

I'm ALL for supporting gay rights, and the practice of supporting human rights but the need exists and we should pay heed to it to Prioritize certain things over this.

It sounds callous, but Right now GLBT community is merely being discriminated against... While this country is actually failing due to the constant infighting and bickering of our house and senate. Actual people are DYING, while GLBT are not allowed to get married.

Priorities folks, I'm more than willing to toss every Iota of support I have (Donations and vocal.. not to mention MY VOTE) after we're done putting out the fires the last administration left!”
