Joel Osteen Says He's Not A Prosperity Gospel Minister

Joel Osteen Says He's Not A Prosperity Gospel Minister

Commented Jun 3, 2014 at 16:40:57 in Religion

“Joel Osteen will not be a Christian until he uses his wealth to help people. As long as he drives fancy cars and lives in a Mansion he is outside of being a Christian. Luke 6-24, Jesus says But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your reward. In other words you will never see heaven. Any Minister who lives a life of luxury will live an eternity away from God. Any person, pastor or layman that has wealth and does not use it for the good of all people is not nor can they stand in the presence of GOD. James Chapter 5, Now listen you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you. Your wealth has rotted and moths have eaten your cloths. Your Gold and Silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded your wealth in the last days.”

“Tom Coburn is another right wind ideologue who would put making cuts in service his priority. He could care less about the suffering of the Vets but he would be a disaster because of his conservatives views. Conservatism is a heartless way of life and if not stopped the United States will be another North Korea.”

“Wal Mart works on the idea that all profits reward the CEO and upper management. The people who actually bring in the profits, the sales force, is stepped on and forced to live on substandard wages. People, like myself, will not shop there, we shop at stores that reward the people that actually make them profits and the CEO and upper management get less. Stores like COSTCO, PUBLIX, Trader Joes, etc. Costco actually undercuts Wal Mart prices and pays their employees an average of $45,000 a year.”

“Corporate profits have increased more than at any other time in American history. Business is making money hand over fist at the cost of working men and women, Business is into the armed services doing things they never did, like prepare meals, build shoddy buildings at high prices. Roads and bridges are built by private contractors and the Army engineers used to do this. Privatizing every Government service gives Veterans poor service and at a higher cost. Every Government service that has been privatized has cost more money than before. So I doubt very seriously your business is not going to show a profits. Capitalism is the extraordinary belief that the nastiest, most greedy of men for the nastiest most greedy of motives will somehow work for the good of all. Capitalism is a raging Bull that must have a ring in its nose and ropes on every leg to control the inherent greed that accompanies it.”

“Adam Smith the father of today's Capitalism thinking, had this to say about the poor. Then rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue but something more than that proportion. " Denouncing vast differences in wealth and income, praised a fellow economist's tax proposal: " to remedy inequality of riches as much as possible, by relieving the poor and burdening the rich." Adam Smith seems to be totally opposite of Paul Ryan, he wishes to relieve the rich and burden the poor.”

“No business should be allowed to pay wages lower than enough to sustain life. FDR said when he established the minimum wage that if a business can not pay a livable wage they should close up, that still stands today. The buying power of minimum wage is less than it was in 1960. It is not freedom to allow business to collaborate with each other to keep wages below a living wage. Government needs to step in a force business to pay a living wage or close their doors and let a real business pay livable wages, like Costco does.”

The Janitor has no friends on the board who can give him $100,000 a year but the CEO is friends with the majority on the board and the CEO sits on other companies boards so he can help other friends by getting millions of dollars in compensation. The abilities have nothing to do with it, just friends helping friends steal money made by the low wage help. We need to keep hammering at the reality of the failure of Supply Side Economics and its relentless march toward bankrupting this country. The Affordable Care Act may have flaws but people who had no insurance are now insured, lets get them good paying jobs now. Conservatives will never work at getting people into good paying jobs, they work at taking away people's ability to organize and make all jobs low paying. “All insurance is wealth transfer, that is the nature of insurance. I have paid insurance for my cars and trucks for 50 years and have never made claim. my wealth was transfered to those that are reckless and less careful than I. Along the way some of my wealth also went in the CEO's pocket and stockholders. This idea that transfer of wealth is wrong is a pile of manure. The wealthy transfer the labor of workers into wealth for themselves, they try to let as little as possible get in the laborers pocket. You control wealth by high taxes and that is what is needed in the USA right now, go back to the tax policies that were in effect from 1917 to 1980.”

We have been deficit spending since 2003 because we cut government's income by 40% by giving the wealthy a tax cut. That is why the Nations National Debt is rising and for no other reason. Obama has cut the deficit in half from what he inherited in 2009.”

The CBO said that 71% of the rise in the national Debt was the deficit spending caused by the tax cuts in 2003. If you want a balanced budget get the taxes back up where they should be on the wealthy of this nation. Cutting taxes has caused all the heartache in this nation.”

“Vermont is doing it right now, it is a slow process and takes a few years to wean the insurance companies out of, for profit hospitals and all medical becomes a not for profit business like it used to be. Most hospitals were run by cities or a doctor's group in the not for profit mode. It has only been in the last 40 years that big investment groups came in and bought out hospitals and made them a for profit venture. They control the doctors by forcing them into clinics owned by the investment group and the doctor can't get hospital privileges unless they join the clinics.”

“It seems you are comparing the wages of workers in Qatar to the "squalid" conditions of minimum wage workers in the United States. I hate to tell you, but that is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. Did you catch the portion that stated 44 workers died within a 6 week period. They were not being fed, didn't have adequate water, and were earning well under the US minimum wage, and to work 12 hour days, six to seven days a week. Oh, and their passports were being held, meaning they were essentially trapped in the conditions, with no option to return to their home country. Get over yourself. Have a little respect for human life, and stop using an unfortunate situation for a large population of the world to spread an entitled opinion. If you are looking for more than minimum wage, get the skills. Work hard, and work your way up. If that isn't enough, get more education, and work harder.”

“I understand where your comments come from, but I have to point out that while you bemoan American's living on a "slave like $7.25 an hour", you should be aware that over 3 Billion (yes Capital B) live on less than $2.50 a day. 80% of the world population lives on less than $10 a day. So an American earning minimum wage and working for 2 hours a day makes more than 80% of the world population. Of course, that does not make it right - but to claim that American's earning minimum wage can be compared to Migrant Workers in Quatar who are truly enslaved is a bit of a stretch”
