The Dems have the Presidency, about 60 votes in the Senate, and large majority in the House, and they just don't have enough power to get anything done. Clue boys, and girls, this is kind of a historical overwhelming majority. Repubs have NEVER had this situation in the last century, if ever. Keep making excuses though. It is what you do.”

Hey, I've got a great idea, lets repeal the Minimum Wage laws and pay our security agents even less! I can't wait for one of them to ask me "Do you want fries with that?"

I've got a better idea. Lets pay them $50 dollars and hour, and make sure they can never be fired.”

Here is a hoot. A poster wanted to know if Dems had ever fought for a TSA Union. When i posted this link, they said, well, G Bush was in charge.
huh?
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2007-02-28-tsa-union-fight_x.htm

Dems want a TSA union, that could strike at will, and shut down the airline industry. They love "commons" and the ability of their voters to control them. Most government employees (outside of the military) are non-fireable union Democrat voters that get their wages from taxpayers. Of course they want a union.
----------------------------

Lots of comments, and some of them were a hoot.
First off. Lefties are still whining about Reagen firing the air traffic controllers.
Second off. Cops call in sick when they want to go on strike. Blue fever.
Third off: I served in the reserves with cops, and fireman, and like the guys, but I don't like their union bs.
Fourth off: Unions are a way for thugs to control an industry unless you pay them money (I'll give the musicians union a pass). Saw it as a merchant mariner in Galveston, Texas.”

pumpupthevolume replied on Dec 29, 2009 at 13:36:15

“First of All Federal employees cannot strike, second they deserve better pay. paid sick days, personal days and health care. Their jobs are just as important ans senators out calling for changes of the system. who will do the work , work overtime and have to deal with the danger. The TSA employee , who makes minimum wages.”

jjkmack replied on Dec 29, 2009 at 13:34:01

“Corruption exists in corporations as well, witness Enron, Tyco, Worldcom, Bernie Madoff, etc.

The issue is whether on the whole, unions have made the US a better place.

For middle-class people the answer is yes. Since the decline of unions caused by Reagan and the conservatives in the 1980s, the middle-class families have seen a slow steady falling of income.

For the uber-wealthy, since Reagan came into office, their incomes have skyrocketed.”

sherbug replied on Dec 29, 2009 at 13:20:48

“I wonder who created the TSA to begin with? It must have been a Democrat, you know how they loved to socialize everything. No, wait, it says here that G.W. Bush socialized airport security when he created this bureaucracy. But we can give him credit for one thing, he was fiscally conservative with the TSA because he didn't fund them with enough money for updated equipment or continuing education.

So we have an organization with no leadership, making slave wages, can't unionize and their job is make sure nobody gets on the plane who would do harm.”

MoeB replied on Dec 29, 2009 at 13:19:04

“LOL @ "get their money from taxpayers". Well, they're government workers, so DUH.

Why are conservatives so anti-union? I think unions are VERY american...individuals pooling together to ensure that they receive fair wages and compensation...because, as we all know, if left up to private industry, they *certainly* would ensure that ALL employees (not just the CEO's) get fairly compensated.

And before you start with the whole 'the market determines fair wages' meme, it is very easy for industry leaders to get together and DECIDE what is a "fair" wage to pay an employee (based on budget restrictions).”

austin4 replied on Dec 29, 2009 at 13:16:19

ThunderclapNewman replied on Dec 29, 2009 at 13:16:07
