“Because of Sleepless in Seattle I broke up with someone...because I didn't want to be one of those people that settled...I wanted something special. Thanks Nora for allowing each person that kind freedom through your beautiful stories. You will be missed. And thank you to Rita for such a beautiful tribute.”

Why Women In Their 20s Get Hitched When They Should've Ditched

Why Women In Their 20s Get Hitched When They Should've Ditched

“Many women are pressured to get married young by family - especially mothers. We are taught as young girls that marriage is the end all be all and we won't be truly happy till we are married (and pregnant). Somehow I survived and ignored the pressure I was under to get married since I was 18 and left several relationships that did not truly make me happy. I didn't get married for the first time tilll I was 44 and I never for one minute questioned my decision or doubted my choice to marry my husband. Worth the wait and no regrets. I raised my daughter to know that she had to take care of herself and to create her own future - she is a strong smart educated woman and I am so proud of her. She is also in a great relationship and is in no hurry to rush into marriage.”

“SFBayGirl - great example of living your life on your terms. Life has so much to offer there is no reason going through it being a martyr just to please other people.”

“The beauty of a woman holding out until she is "mature" enough is that Mother Nature will generally curse such a woman with a barren womb for not using it when she was fertile - hence the next generation will be filled with women who decided that it was better to get married at a young age and have children.

Of course, one effect of the current divorce industrial complex is that many men are just saying the hell with it, and will only date women for sex and not for a committed relationship (i.e., hook up culture, friends with "benefits", etc.)”

18 Years of Failed Parole in Dugard Kidnapping

“I live in the East Bay and here were neighbors who questioned it and the police even came to the door but they did not bother to look in the backyard. Also - Garrido built an extra fence in his yard that created a space between his yard and the next persons. So even if people looked over the fence they would not look into the yard where the tents and the shed were. Also - one of the rooms was sound proof which may explain why no one heard a baby crying. I myself thought that was pretty strange until i heard about the sound proof room.”
