This depiction is not racist per se. However, with the plethora of dark-skinned haute couture models, there is a racial subtext here that requires an answer -- therefore, challenges must occur within the industry. Models and their managers must require the photographer and stylist to account for their "vision" of this shoot , answering the question: Why the faux-ethnicity??
Again, save your passionate indignation for things like:
the Aussie TV show that broadcast a Jackson 5/Michael Jackson "tribute" group in TRUE blackface (as in COAL-BLACK!). No one felt it racist except guest judge and fellow American Harry Connick, Jr. He let the Australian viewing public know he, as an American, found the performance unacceptably bigoted.
Connick's denouncement was strong, yet polite; ironically spiked with humor as well as an effort to educate the ignorant. That's the way you passionately call bigotry to account.”

“"So what, big deal? The US was stomped by lesser teens."
So your rationale is, so what if they cheated, they did a better job?
The big deal is that there are specific rules (for whatever reason) that each team must adhere to in order to participate. If the IOC wants to change the rules to let in younger athletes then they can do so and this won't be an issue next time. This is no different than the rules against doping. You dope...you get caught...y ou're disqualified. You need to be 16...you'r e 14...you get disqualified.
I do think it was distasteful for Karoyli to whine about Sacramone being "distracted" by too long of a wait. She's an adult and has been in a lot of competitions. You choked, it's unfortunate, suck it up. Not everyone wins. But it's definitely within their rights to complain about ineligible athletes being able to compete.
But what if she didn't choke, all did great, and the only reason we got the silver was because China used ineligible athletes? How fair would that have been?
"The US has an ALL PRO NBA team in the Olympics is that fair?!?
Yes.
The rules were changed to allow professional players. Blame the IOC for that one, the US isn't breaking any rules. BTW...Athe ns 2004...US= Bronze. Pro doesn't always equal gold.”

“Many countries field what are considered all professional teams. As for the age, the older you get, the less you can physically do. This is called aging. For instance, in the U.S. military, an eighteen year old had to run two miles in twelve minutes, 42 seconds. By the time you where twenty, the time was significantly higher. So, yes, in athletics, age can make a huge difference. Even two years.
However, some people are missing a point. There is an age limit. Period. Those are the rules and all are expected to abide by them. When you fail to follow the rules, consequences must follow. Some may lack sense, such as America's "Global War on Drugs", but do you see judges saying, "Hey, no problem. I'll just give you a warning for importing twenty tons of drugs."?”
