Thriving in Adversity

Commented May 24, 2010 at 13:27:53 in Chicago

“Be prepared. What good advice. So many people are bumping up against difficulties these days and our conditioned response is: "Run!" But as you say, if you want a big life (or any life for that matter) you need to welcome these problems with open arms and use all the tools in the book (and you give us plenty in YOUR book) to meet them cheerfully. The treasures are not on the beach in the sunshine, but deep inside. Sometimes a shake-up is what we need to fuel growth and change. Thank you Laura. Once again, you give us sage and timely advice!”

Too Busy to Cook: The Dismantling of a Culture

Commented Apr 28, 2010 at 16:01:01 in Food

“Love this Elissa.
Thank you! Why don't people cook? I think it's one part habit and one part connecting to and focusing on all the good reasons to cook and being motivated by them. Marcella Hazan said something along the lines of 'what could be better than eating food that was prepared with love by someone you can hug.' Not much more you can add to that. Food is nourishment on many levels, and when we forget that, we do, as you said, starve ourselves.”
