“Just a heads up. Someone is yanking your chain. From the report.
Using our modest estimate that KXL will prevent on average a $20 discount to the price of a barrel of tar sands crude, FHR’s [Flint Hills Resources, a Koch subsidiary] Pine Bend refinery will miss out on $120 billion in profit ($20 x 6 billion barrels = $120 billion).
They will make a profit if they clear 8 billion barrels. Including the above losses, they'd just need to wait only 476 years.”
“That quote was Senator Obama. The CR has repeatedly been a source of negotiation. I can understand why Democrats don't want Obama negotiating, as he's horrible at it.”

“While you quoted Obama, your reference of terrorist was to the current suggestion that the tea party members are terrorists for their ill conceived actions.
As I said, the tea party memebers are not terrorists, they are just foolish ignorant people mainly upset with the damage the Bush administration (along with a lack of Democratic opposition) did to our country. Both parties should be working to a common solution like we did under Clinton. It made America stronger. The tea party is a bad thing because they refuse to compromise and hopefully will be voted out soon.”
“Actually, the Tea Party is the change we have been waiting for. Little by little there will be a difference created between the two parties. It's good for our country. We really don't want two parties leading us in the same direction, we'll get to tyranny far quicker that way. At least we'll have options when we go vote, instead of two parties cut from the same cloth, we'll have options.
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a Sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. ...Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that 'the buck stops here'. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and Grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

“Then-Senator Obama never voted to shut down the government. And we all know, when a debt ceiling raise is assured - it's traditionally a venue for the opposing party to voice their opposition to the one in power. That debt ceiling raise was in the bag. Democrats were not posturing to hold the economy hostage over it.”

“You have no idea what the debt ceiling is. It doesn't "increase" the debt. It's an aribitrary (and not constitutionally grounded) accounting function which simply allows the funds to be appropriated. Get a clue before you post this nonsense.”

“it's always been that way, it's not the debt, it is the interest on the debt. Under reagen 30 year bonds were offered at 9.5% interest and we are still paying on that, Bush 1 at 8.5% interest on 30 year bonds, Clinton 6.5%, Bush 2 @ 3.5%, and Obama at 1.5% on the 30. This is how we end up with massive deficits. Reagen tripled the deficit, Bush 1 and Clinton both nearly doubled it, Bush 2 raised the deficit from 5.5 to over 10.5 trillion nearly doubling it, and under Obama it is up 57%. That's what long term interest at different levels costs us over decades. Our budget deficit since Obama has been in has been reduced by over 60% due to budget cuts and an increase in revenue.”

“Well if we stopped wasting our time playing these baby games, we might be able to do something to stimulate the economy and the debt issue would be taken care of. At the root of most of these issues including the increased reliance on entitlement, is the poor economy. Fix that and most other issues will sort themselves out.
Instead we have all of this grandstanding and temper tantrums and people who are only looking out for themselves. Clearly, that isn't working.”

“Private unions have their place in our society, and it's a necessary one. Unfortunately, when unions began supporting every left wing ideological point of view, regardless of usefulness to those they are representing, members began to lose trust. The pendulum has begun to swing the other direction.
Public unions are a bane to our society and a huge source of corruption in our political class as is crony capitalism.”
