“I disagree. I was extremely shy of the opposite sex until college. Drinking gave me courage. Over time I was able to approach the opposite sex for dates etc., without the help of alcohol.”

At the end of the day, my first comment pretty much covers all of it, she doesn't have a clue either way.”

“I'm not sure what you are saying.  I'm familiar with MO theory and how light can be used to ID orbitals.  I realize the energy per electron is also small.  My point is that I would like to see 6 dots for the ring carbon atoms (where there should be increased density due the the presence of core electrons) and orbitals with some shape to them.  Perhaps this molecule isn't suited for that type of demonstration. ”

“That's what happens when you have more children than you can afford. Minorities (esp. low-income minorities) in this country have historically had a higher birthrate than caucasions. The money they do "earn" must then be spread amongst a large number of children so the kids can't afford the extras that will get them ahead in life. Their inheritances are also smaller because they needed to be divided up amongst several descendents.”

“I don't see the bonding then.  It's just a dot with fairly spherical symmetry.  It would be nice if they could somehow separately image the electrons in the different orbitals.”

Maryann Gerety on Sep 20, 2012 at 14:17:33

“You said: I don't see the bonding then. It's just a dot with fairly spherical symmetry. It would be nice if they could somehow separately image the electrons in the different orbitals.

Yes, like the textbook does..BUT it is a matter of scale! can you appreciate
the tiny size of Planck's constant (h)? The energy of each electron/wave
is equal to Planck's constant times the frequency which is a very small
number. The electonic transitions from electron shell to shell is described
by the electromagnetic spectrum right?. We have visible light; UV light;
X-Rays, and so on. Now you want a Picture of an electron? Rethink
Planck's constant and look up "String theory" on wikipedia.”

“Calling him "white boy" or saying things like "what's a lineman doing running with the ball" is similar to what you described.  I know you would have been offended if someone had told Warren Moon "what are they doing letting a wide receiver throw the ball?"”

aasesq on Jul 11, 2012 at 11:32:14

“I would not have been offended at players, white or black, saying that about Moon. Professional players try to get into each others head all the time. Similar comments were made to Reggie Robey who was one of the few black punters in the NFL. By the way, Moon, who went undrafted, was told that the NFL looked at him as a receiver rather than a quarterback despite the fact that he had a successful at career in college at qb. The NFL systematically discriminated against black quarterbacks. As you know Moon had to go to Canada to play and after leaving Canada, he signed with a NFL team and now he is a hall of famer. Now that's real racism.”

There are several accounts where he spoke adamently about his support for the abolishment of slavery.  I think that the North wanted to end slavery because they felt it was morally reprehensible.”

People tend to choose whatevery religion fits their current lifestyle or beliefs and use the religious myth to validate their actions, which are often aggressive or detrimental to others and society.”
