Michelle Obama Ordered Thigh-High Boots From France: Report

“People are so petty, if our first lady didn't look sharp at every appearance you'd have something NEGATIVE to say about that. Her husband makes a salary and what he spends it on is his business! Just because the country is on hard times doesn't mean the Obama's have to pretend they're broke. Bad enough they haven't been able to enjoy many of the perks other first family's have. Noticed last night they used previous first family china because god forbid they follow tradition and order Obama white house china! Why would anyone want our first family looking or acting like poor peasants!”

“Whatever the Obamas due under these circumstances, you should truthfully ask yourself if you would react the same if McCain was living so large at the expense of taxpayers. During the campaign, Cindy McCain, with loads of her own money, spent big to look great. I found that annoying as well. This isn't a petty issue at all. So if unemployment reached 20 percent would you then see all this glitz from this WH as perfectly acceptable? So at what point is spending lavishly in poor taste?”

What President Obama Is Reading On Health Care
Commented Nov 24, 2009 at 16:17:32 in Politics
“I don't think it was a concern for most Americans until we reached the point people could no longer afford or be guaranteed health insurance. People also weren't connecting the dots for a long time. Took a while for many to realize that the low raise or no raises over the pass few years was a direct connection to the rise in cost for employers providing health care for their employees. So here we are when the boat is ready to sink before our government acts. But if the republicans had they're way we still wouldn't be addressing it.”

“Let us not forget that one of the promises Bush made in 2000 AND again in 2004 was that he would provide tax cuts to owners of small business who offered healthcare coverage to their emplyees.
I have a brother-in-law who confessed to me that, although he is a staunch Republican, Bush let him down big time and regretted voting for him again. He owns a small business that saw NO such tax cuts.”

“Progressives -- we get a good laugh at the expense of these wing nuts. But I for one will not underestimate them, we have way to many uneducated and uninformed voters knocking around. The media LOVES to cover these wacko rallies and people are to easily influenced in this country. If people think they're winning the fight there will be no shortage of people jumping on they're crazy train.
History tells us young people and minority groups don't turnout in mid term elections. If this comes to pass it will be a disaster. We've already seen the GOP strategy, they will NEVER support a thing this President tries to do. If Pres. Obama loses a majority in the house he'll be stopped in his tracks, which has been their plan from day one. So laughing is fine but ignoring these people we can not, we'd better be ready to engage and fight back. We must get democrats out in droves to vote come mid terms because believe me there will be no shortage of republicans turning out.”

Obama's Afghanistan Decision: 34,000 More Troops And An Exit Strategy, Reports Say
Commented Nov 24, 2009 at 13:41:50 in Politics
“I don't want another American shipped off to the forsaken place. But I'll trust this President's decision because unlike his predecessor I know he's thought this through and this must be the only option. This President is no war monger. But Mr. President the majority of Americans want our troops out of that place and another 8 years won't cut it. A clear sooner than later exit strategy is a MUST.”
evgolightly replied on Nov 24, 2009 at 13:43:41

We know in our gut that Obama would love to send ALL our troops home. If he can't do it right now, it's for a dam.ned good reason.”

“Before we can stop the spending we have to stop the bleeding! The banks aren't loaning money, people aren't creating jobs and if the government doesn't step in who will? I'm not concerned about what they spend, so long as it's smart spending. This recession is bad enough I don't even want to imagine what it would be like going through a DEPRESSION.”

“"October's deficit was bigger than Bush's last entire year. One month".
We've not forgotten Bush had a nice surplus when he arrived in WA. And had he continued on that path instead of starting an unnecessary war that bankrupted the country we would not be in this situation. This continued growing deficit is a result of Bush starting one!
Republicans would love to lay this current mess at Pres. Obama feet simply because he's now the President. Not going to fly, we know why we're in this mess and it will forever be the balm of one man, BUSH!”

“I think it's fair to say Pres. Obama is taking on very tough issues-- some were not of his chosing but most were he's choosing. He could have just focused on the economy and the wars and I think most people would have understood that and would have no problem giving him another term time to tackle his campaign promises. But no, he's taking on what he inherited AND taking on what he promised during his campaign -- health care reform, climate change, an energy policy and re-vamping our education system --- which frankly doesn't seem like a good plan if his only concern was to be re-elected.”
