“I couldn't be more disappointed about this bill BUT I'm not going to point the blame finger at Pres. Obama for these three reasons. 1) I can see why he left this to congress and house after what happen to Clinton care. 2) The in fighting in his own party is not of his making. 3) His powers are limited he can't make democrats fall in step and vote his way. Oh and republicans decided from day one they're weren't EVER going cooperate with this President on anything!

Where I point the blame finger is those Blue Dogs and Liberman! Liberman is the only person in the world I hope doesn't have a Merry Christmas!”

“The blame finger only need be pointed in the direction of those Blue Dog democrats (in name only) for this watered down bill! I'm sick of hearing this crap that they serve in conservative districts who were opposed to a gov. run health plan. Did any one of them even TRY and make the case for a PO to their constituents? None that I saw. Instead of educating their constituents they just let ignorance prevail once again. It always amazes me that the people who need and can benefit most from gov. intervention always vote against the own self interest.”

“Not to sound selfish but this bill does nothing to helping so many in my situation. Middle class, self employeed struggling to pay for my health insurance and bracing for more increases in the future. As we're not below the poverty line no government assistant will apply. Once again it's the poorest of the poor and the rich who will do fine, those in the middle -- well tough luck. The ability to buy into a government plan (pubic option) was our only hope of reliefe.”

Actongue replied on Dec 23, 2009 at 13:51:35

“I have been without health insurance for over 12 years now mainly in part because the Industry I am in does not offer it unless you work for a Union so understand your feelings.

It take time to improve things and rarely can thye be done overnight. The door is now open to single payer or public option and that is what we need to be thankful for.”

freelancerighter replied on Dec 23, 2009 at 13:49:56

“That's what the exchanges will be for. They will have to meet certain standards; like how much of their incoming dollar goes toward payment of claims, etc. I believe one must be non-profit. There you'll get competitive bidding between companies for your business. You don't need to be poor for it.

I want single payer too. It'll help cover all of us, instead of this piecemeal we have now. It'll employ thousands of us and if we can make it "American Business", it'll help our manufacturing base. For now though, let's let the insurance companies "chat" with medical providers about their prices. I suspect they will make a few changes for us.”

amaycatbaker replied on Dec 23, 2009 at 13:42:24

“The idea is more people in the insurance pool lowers rates. I know that does not sound promising, but something has to happen now, or the premiums are going up as more people drop off of insurance because they can't pay. It is a cycle.”

“My fear is that once again our government will hand over billions of tax payers dollars to BIG industry without putting in specific expectations and protections so we're not s c r e w e d again. They claim this bill will lower the cost of health care.....is there anything in the bill demanding this happen? If not don't expect the health insurance industry to do just what the banks did -- put those take tax payers dollars in their pocket and continue the status quo.”

OH and here's some food for thought........our government is going to once again hand over billions of tax payers dollars to big industry WITHOUT getting UP FRONT guarantees nor putting any regulations in place so we don't get s c r e w e d again. Guess they didn't learn any lessons from the bank bail out OR perhaps that was the plan all along?”

“The term living in a bubble is an understatement when it comes to Democrats in WA right now. If they think they're going to survive this watered down lottery jack pot bill for insurance companies they're on another plant not just in a bubble! Republicans are going whip them over the back with this bill come next election time. “That's assuming Democrats can keep a majority. The writing on the wall says come the next primary elections they will lose the majority. And it's pretty clear now the strategy being played by republicans, oppose any and everything Democrats and this Pres. wants to do. And you would also have to assume that democrats who now oppose real reform are going to see the light down the road. NO this was a one shot deal I'm afraid.”

“For whatever reason Democrats in WA refuse to understand what not passing a REAL health care reform bill is going to cost them and that goes for the blue dogs as well who think they're saving their own rear ends by opposing real reform. It won't just be Pres. Obama whose going to suffer the fall out of this. I truly believe this is the one bitter pill progressives are not going to swallow. As progressives may have their different expectations of this administration, real health care reform with a PO is the one expectation we all shared. It's going to be ugly come next primary elections. The disenchanted will stay home, the most angry among us will vote republican to send a message. And you can certainly forget about our youth getting fired up and ready to go.”
