Feingold: Obama Responsible For Loss Of Public Option

Commented Dec 21, 2009 at 00:30:06 in Politics

“SNL should write a sketch to show Obama's transition with a cool "Yes, we can!" song...

Starting with Obama singing the song "Yes, we can!" together with people from the poor and middle class families.
Then, lobbyists appear one by one using the shaq-a-butt move on the original singers ending the move by joining the song at the chorus section.
The ending; Obama singing "Yes, we can!" with no one but the lobbyists...And Obama changing his own phrase to "No, you can't" (in response to lobbyists loud and clear shout of "Yes, we can!") facing the people thrown out from the choir by the lobbyists...”

“If only Obama had mentioned that the changes he promised was only targeting himself, no one would have any problems right now with his decisions...

Well, at least it would help open the eyes of a big portion of the public to never trust anyone who promised you the world. Obama is portraying himself more and more as a politician to the core, not a people's man challenging the politics.”

Is This as Good as It Gets From Obama?

Commented Nov 03, 2009 at 20:52:53 in Politics

“Getting nothing is better than losing everything, and disappointment is the right term to use, but it is not completely his fault. Demanding change is a good thing, but can we really say that it will come as easily as the Presidency. I don't think so. I think Obama's value should be measured with what he has accomplished by the time he leaves the Presidency rather than what he has achieved right now. Hopefully, unlike Bush, he will learn from the mistakes, and he will not try to force his way towards the wrong path, once he figures out the nature of the way he is headed...”

Why Terrorists Never Have Gotten Hold of a Nuke and Why the Taliban Won't Be First

Commented Oct 16, 2009 at 21:20:12 in World

“It depends on what you consider as military action. I am sure you are aware that military action is what solved the crisis and prevented the further deaths in the ex-Yugoslavia. There are some cases you can rightfully use military action to solve the crisis.

The problem with Iran is, even though the Iranians separate on ideals and views, openly or in secrecy, there is no significant movement that opposes the current government. US and other countries can use the right to move in, when those two groups start acting against each other using military power. Or one against the other.

Right now, we don't really know what to expect from the current US government. Iran is acting in a way to even anger Obama, who initially offered to achieve peaceful solutions with them. With Iran acting this way, I don't think it will be easy for US to propose a working plan. And this is what Iran (or its current government) wants the most, putting other countries in a position to not be able to do much.”

“had to jump in for it is obvious a critical subject is overlooked on this thread. Can anyone chime in on the difference between a Sunni , Shiite, and Kurd? I can. they all hate each other. Do a little Islamic research on these tribes before you throw the United States under a very big bus trying to keep them apart from one another. The last thing the Saudis want is a nuclear Iran. Think historically and globally before figuring out how to conquer a nation.”

“I think it is certain that US has many spies in both Afghanistan and Pakistan. But, we can for now assume that they haven't succeeded in what they were asked to do.

Considering that even Israel cannot manage as well as expected with its spies in Palestine and Lebanon, I highly doubt US will achieve better in those countries with more danger and secrecy involved.”

Commented Oct 16, 2009 at 21:03:20 in World

“I think they were waiting for the right moment to do that. Unfortunate for them, they are not in power anymore.

For the reasons, there are many possibilities. Maybe they didn't have enough intelligence to successfully attack with the minimum amount of casualty. Maybe without guaranteeing an acceptable level of improvement in Iraq to move ahead. Maybe they didn't get the support they needed from the neighboring countries (for sure, they couldn't get the support from Turkey). Maybe they wanted Iran to almost obtain the nuclear weapon. Hence, with that, with the right kind of proof, maybe they were planning to use Israel, to recreate what happened before with Iraq.

Anyways, I agree with the will part.”

“I think after the September 11 attack on US, you should be very concerned about the craziness of that group of people. They are the kind of people who wouldn't mind killing millions, if it means giving some kind of message to the world.

Unlike Russia or another country, they don't have much to lose either. And they have a clear goal, which is the destruction of Israel and people who don't believe in Islam (that includes many western countries). Russia or another country never had a goal like that. So, it is a mute point, comparing these two cases.”

Why Terrorists Never Have Gotten Hold of a Nuke and Why the Taliban Won't Be First

“I think you are forgetting one simple matter.

If Taliban obtains the warheads, they can share them with other countries willingful to supply them with what they don't have. I am sure they will be happy with one or two, and give the rest to such countries.

Considering that Iran is the first country to come in anyone's mind, there is every reason to think of the worst scenario. And we also know that, even if Iran may consider Taliban as the evil side compared to themselves, if they can obtain the warheads necessary to protect themselves from the military action coming from US and Israel, they can guarantee success for their nuclear operations. So they can make a deal with Taliban under such conditions. This is a scenario that we should avoid at all costs.

There is no reason to not do anything when we are facing with a risk of nonzero possibility.”

“Iran's attempt at getting nuclear bombs is almost a guarentee that they willo be attacked. If you are declared to be a target (as they have done with israel), do you not wait for them to kill you or do you try to destroy their capability first?

“Unfortunately, your comment is not an accurate representation of the truth. At least it is not related to EU or anything. I guess it is very easy to talk or make comment when you know "nothing". Considering the ex-President Bush, I can understand....

Anyways.

The current matter is only related to Prime Minister's and its political party's action to satisfy their voting base, in other words, the poor souls they try to buy with money, food, coal, etc., (and succeed) in each election.

I don't agree with Israeli politics and a lot of people can consider what was shown on that series as a quite possible scenario (that is how Israel is viewed in many countries), however that is not the concern here. The concern here is to intentionally try to increase or create anger among Turkish citizens towards Jews using the state television. And use that excuse to create further mess. No one can say anything if that is to be broadcast on private TV channels. That is what private TV channels do in almost every country. Blame others using, if necessary, highly offensive techniques, even if they may not be true. However, using the state owned TV for that purpose is not an acceptable approach.”

“Continued:

I think instead of giving numbers, if Biden thinks that the current politics will not work, then he needs to give a highly detailed plan of what to do, in the best interest of not only US but the world as well. Since Al Qaeda and Taliban is not a threat to only US but the whole civilization. That means, the plan he would provide would involve the help of other countries. But, a good plan is the only way to achieve that. And if he is really believing in his ideas, about what needs to be done, I think, he needs to make it clear to everyone about what to do. I don't accept simplistic views with no deepness behind it. Everyone can have ideas, but a Vice President needs to be able to offer more, considering his position and the resources available to them...”

Why Joe Biden Should Resign

Commented Oct 14, 2009 at 18:55:00 in World

“I think what he should do is not resigning, instead trying to make it a tradeoff between both policies. I think neither Biden nor the other camp is completely right.

Leaving a free ground for the terrorists to grow and get stronger is not the right thing to do. Yes, when half of that country is against you and support the acts of the evil lord you may not achieve a lot, but still leaving it completely defenseless would be a big mistake. Sometimes trying to do something is better than doing nothing.

And about Pakistan. I don't know what you can do about that. The scale is completely different than that of Afghanistan and the public support of Taliban and their views had been there for quite some time. It is not it started just yet.

For that, the danger is big. But what can you do. You cannot eliminate the civilians who would be supporting Taliban and Al Qaeda. And putting more money, or spending more resources is not a guarantee of a success.”
