The answer to the post: Of course Santa is a yogi! He is about love and giving, which quintessentially he practices. If we can bring cultivate even 1 of the 8 points that you have listed out, this will be a peaceful and generous place.

Namaste.”

“Hi Sadie,

Good post. And you have addressed the issue very well. Subscribed to your youtube channel a while back. Well, I am going to start the core exercises and will tell you the result in a month. I stopped working out at a gym a while back but still have free weights and bars at home for upper body. I play badminton and the workout is intense. Anyway, plan is for 30 minutes of yoga everyday.

By the way, in the first video (downward dog) you blend in the background! You are wearing black and so is the BG. Also a suggestion : you could think of light setup, umbrellas, for more clarity.

Cheers,

“Its 0244 am in India & I am glad that I peeked at Huffpo. Brilliant post Sadie. You gave got the essence of it beautifully.

Two things. 1. Krishna was Arjuna's charioteer. And he was an avatar and not God. 2. Arjuna threw the weapon's on the battle field refusing to fight his family and teachers. Please bear with me while I type elaborate. There are 2 families. Pandavas - good guys. Kauravas- cousins but ursupers who want the fight.

Interestingly enough, on the Kaurava's side, there is the Prince, heir apparent and the instigator of atrocities, Dhuryodhana. Dhuryodhana and his brother's mom is Gandhari, daughter of the King Subala of Gandhara, modern day Kandahar, Afghanistan.

So, to all the apostles of peace parading Patanjali and ahimsa - please do not get blinded by your bohemian puritanism. If you all had read arthshastra, then you would know the entire classification of people as Kshatriayas - meaning Warriors. The veterans of today are the modern day Kshatriyas. With your myopic views you are distinctly denying them the respect they command.

I fully support and salute the veterans and serving soldiers in any democratic regime for letting people like me and you live in peace. And oh, I have family full of veterans who have served distinctly.

Let us honor them. Once again, thanks for this great post Sadie.

Namaste.”

Simulating Reality In The Facebook Era: If You Unfriend Someone, Do They Still Exist?

“I have been on facebook for a more than 4 years. But being one of the veterans of the IRC era, I pretty added folks whom I wanted to stay in touch with. And that comprised of high school friends mostly. As individual lives got busier, keeping tab on e-groups was not the optimal method to stay in touch. With all positives there are negatives and down a decade something else will take the fancy. Who know, what the future beholds?

Great post by the way. Loved the narrative.”

Terror in Mumbai -- One Year Later

Commented Nov 19, 2009 at 15:25:02 in World

“Bush never cared for the people. Afghanistan was just a ruse. The real target for them was Eyeraack and its oil. On the contrary, President Obama is trying to do the right thing. Whether he will be successful or be derail by the belligerent GOPs and lobbyists is a different issue. It was a terror attack and the commandos had to be called in but ultimately it is a civil matter. Not a military issue.

Trying KSM in a court of law is the right thing to do. If Iraq can try and convict its dictator, why can't NYC?

Eric Holder is doing his job and doing the right thing. I am glad that you support it too.”

Climate Change Hits Women Harder, So Where Are the Feminist Voices?

Commented Nov 18, 2009 at 14:23:36 in Green

“There is a disproportionate amount of hardship on the developing world thanks to the inaction by the developed on the climate front. Six days back, Dr. Chu while visiting New Delhi openly admitted that COP15 would not be a path breaking event since the Congress would not have enacted and passed the climate reform bill at home. So, while the West is trying to reach an accord, which might yet be derailed by US, the most voracious consumers re- China, India and Brazil are now balking at any concrete measures since the West is not willing to make any commitments of its own. In such a vicious circle, countries like Bangladesh, Maldives, Mauritius, Sri Lanka are in peril. The world needs to wake up and realize that we all live on this one planet and there is no where else to go.”

Are You Eating In The Matrix?

Commented Nov 12, 2009 at 14:09:22 in Living

“Great post Darya. I have cut out any kind of processed stuff from my diet. Even when I am forced to eat out on the run, I prefer fruits. Preferably from a mom and pop store grown locally. Dinner is cooked and had at leisure. Not in front of the teevee. I do wish people would wake up from their Matrix, eat the red pill and face reality. I look forward to reading your next post. So far all your articles have been wonderful. Keep them coming. Let us change the eating habit. One meal at a time. Cheerio!”

Bicycle Knights and Motoring Rogues

“As a fellow cyclist I can fully understand the amount of road rage one has to endure in USA. Now, working and living in India, its utter chaos on roads. I have to weave my way through all this chaos of high powered cars, motorcycles and city buses. Though I have a car, my office is barely 5 miles away and I see no reason to take my car. It is about time governments across the world started providing better infrastructure to cyclists.”

3 Mini Meditations To Help You Through Your Day (Or Night)

3 Mini Meditations To Help You Through Your Day (Or Night)

Commented Oct 13, 2009 at 17:36:12 in Living

“Brilliant post Ed and Deb. Kudos. People tend to relate meditation to some sort of religious practice. The posts you have done in the past have not only brought meditation into focus but have demystified their nature. I would also point out to a part of "Pranayama" (Prana - Sanscrit for Life force) which I do and do hope your readers would also do.

1. Press and close the right nostril with your right hand's thumb.

2. Fold the fore finger and the middle finger down.

3. Place the ring finger lightly on the left nostril.

4. Now slowly inhale from the left nostril (right to remain closed) deeply counting to ten.

5. Close the left nostril with your ring finger( right nostril to remain closed all this time).

6. Count to 15 and hold your breath.

7. Release the thumb and thereby opening the right nostril and exhale slowly counting all the way to 20. (Left nostril to remain closed all this time.

Repeat for 5 minutes.

I hope at least some of you try this. It might be a little difficult at first, but trust me. It can do wonders. If you feel like exploring more, then please do search for " PRANAYAMA".

Thanks and good luck.”

hp blogger Ed and Deb Shapiro replied on Oct 13, 2009 at 20:18:47

“Thanks Shrinath - Pranayama is invaluable as your breathe is life it is your best friend

Th mind and the breathe are connected and through pranayama (regulating or controi of the life force) you can access healing through the science of pranavidya, the science of prana.

I trained at the Bihar School of Yoga in India and became Swami Brahmananda. I lived in seclusion and did pranayama and meditation everyday. We lived in silence and we lived in

Bliss, Love and PEACE

Om Shanti

“So here is the update. I tried the Down Dog split for the core planks. Looks easy right? WOW. Was I mistaken. I got the posture and the movement correct but not sure whether it is supposed to work on these muscles

1. As I stretch my leg back my hamstring in the leg that is planted down pulls and becomes taut. While I bring back my leg to the shoulder I tend to lose my balance a bit.

2. I also tend to keep my arms a lot wider and the leg comes on the inside rather than the outside. I find it a little difficult to keep them closer.

3. Long back, I had hurt my lower back, stretched the tail a bit (during dead lifts) and hence sometimes I suffer from stiff back. For a pull stretch It pained a bit.

Crow Pose was a tough!!! Couldn't do it. I am bit confused about the Pigeon pose. After I stretch my right foot, where does my left stay stay? o_0”

SadieNardini replied on Oct 13, 2009 at 16:13:50

“Good questions! Here goes:

1. That's OK--your body will open and stabilize over time. Finding balance is one major way yoga works to harmonize your body. Keep working at it and it will fine-tune.

2. The hands should be about shoulder distance, and the knee in this pose should come into the chest, not outside the arm/shoulder. You'll find it easier to access your abdominal work this way!

3. A pulling or aching sensation is OK....sharp pain is not. You will find muscles that are tight for a long time, and the best thing to do is find the beginning of your stretch, breathe, and move deeper once that edge dissolves and opens.

I would also go to a regular yoga class for beginners, and do the proper warm-up before you try deeper stretches. You can go to my You Tube Page [SadieNardini] and do the Yoga for the Inflexible free video there.

4. I know--it's hard! Gives you something to work towards:)

5. Right knee is bent as wide or wider than your hips, Right foot is under your left hip or forward. Back, left leg stretches straight back from your hips. For more instruction, see my Magic Pose: Pigeon video on YouTube!

Keep at it--you'll be rocking soon:)

“I have begun practising yoga since yesterday. For a good part of 15 years I have been hitting the gym for weight training. My structure is most definitely on the bulky muscular side rather than the sinewy compact structure. However, as of yesterday, I have started on yoga. My goal is to stay fit and maintain musculature. I play tennis or badminton almost all days. Yoga provides fantastic core strength. All it requires is a bit of space. So thumbs up for yoga.

Thanks for a the great post Sadie.”
