“It is a process of individuals so I don't know how you can expect it to have firmly relevant statistics. Again...2.6%...that's creep that you will need to identify and yes, I did google it and I can't find anything lower than 5%. The attraction is simple, they offer hope to those who feel their situation is hopeless...nothing more than support.”
“I googled it and didn't find it. I certainly found 5% which is what I have always presumed to be a reasonable number. Yes...there are adults left in the room and they are searching for facts to assist in their considerations.”
“I doubt it was 20% in 1985. The last reasonable research I have read puts all recovery modalities at about the same rate of 5% (no one is tracking for how long). The first one hundred in AA mostly relapsed and/or died...Dr Bob, a co-founder never really got off his pills...but there is no doubt that the quality of life experienced by people that stop using their addictions in the course of day today life have a net benefit.
“That is new to me after 20+ years. I had the benefit of meetings that didn't allow a corrosive religious flavor to them. The degree of religiosity is an entirely new problem. Interestingly enough, the people I know with the longest sobriety are mostly agnostic or atheist or some grey zone in the totally non-aligned zone.”
“Well I hate to tell you. I have read them too...In fact it was a great great grand father that wrote them. It is exactly what was intended...sorry my young friend...you will learn this when you finish your junior high school studies.”

“What exactly would the government have to do in order to violate your version of the 2nd Amendment, as presently members of the well regulated militia are:
1,) Disarmed by the government whenever they are not in combat or actively involved in training... instead, the arms are stored in an armory when not in use
2.) Members of the well regulated militia are not allowed to use their personally owned weapons in combat without the permission of their commanding officer.
3.) The government only allows members of the well regulated militia to bear arms when the the government wants them to and where the government wants them to.
4.) Membership in the well regulated militia is specifically controlled by the government and the government (without any 2nd amend objection) has limited membership the past so as to exclude racial minorities, women and homosexuals.
5.) The federal government completely eliminated the well regulated militia for a time and appropriated all of their weapons and equipment for use by the regular armed forces. A unanimous SCOTUS put its seal of approval on this action over the objection of the states who complained that they would be defenseless.
So the issue then becomes, what exactly would the government have to do to violate your version of the 2nd?
Who was your great great grand father?”

“Pennsylvania Constitution. 1790. Clearly you haven't read much son. Madison and Mason were clear.”
“They were both Mason and Anti-mason. They were a little of this and a little of that...but most were well aware of the suffering and risk involved to originally come to America as Puritans (refugees)....and how messed up that could get as well.”
“The fewer the jobs the lower the demand for workers....wages stay collapsed...owners get to have their own slaves who have to pay for their own existence. Current system is cheaper than original slavery costs.”

“Tax deferment strategies like John Turner brought in as finance minister were quite effective at putting money in a few peoples pockets and training up world class crews. What drives the media market is content content content. To develop that we need other approaches. We are sorely in need of better funding models than currently exist. I am favouring a similar distribution tax as in Britain though on all forms of media which can be pooled. There also has to be some major changes to residuals and pensions and long term talent development. We eat our young and discourage their maturity.”
“Once upon a time...that high tax bracket was a badge of honor. Today's billionaires, for the most part, have no honor. In an imperialist system they would at least be possessed with a sense of Noblesse Oblige.”

“When the economy booms and all people are lifted up tyhe wealthy benefit also even if they pay a progressively higher tax. If they would look at the history of the USA you will find these things self evident. When most of the people are employed the wages go up because of the demand for people. When the wealthy have a high marginal tax brackets the economy booms because those same wealthy people reinvest profits into the economy which gives them deductions and lets them get taxed in a lowwer bracket. The Government uses that increased tgax money to rebuild infrastructure which makes business happy because they now have good roads, bridges and ports to engage in their business. If we would pay attention to history and do the things when times were good and budgets were balanced we would proper as nation. We had balanced budgets under Eisenhower when the highest Marginal Tax bracket was 91% of $400,000 (4.4 million today), we had 4 balanced budgets when Clinton was President and the highest tax bracket was 41%. Why do we not know when things are going good to keep down the same road.”
“Yes...but translated from Martian into earthling shows the entire difference. Most democrats aren't interested in restoring slavery by economic means as is the Reaganantic approach of the modern republican.”
