GOP Senator Breaks Ranks From Tea Party: 'I'm In The Take-Charge-Of-The-Government Crowd'

Commented Oct 27, 2013 at 01:41:38 in Politics

“Tea Party = a small fictional group of people PAID through consulting or temporary employment agencies as temporary workers to stand in public in costumes while being unable to answer the most basic questions concerning government and always blowing their cover by not having any "skin" in their side's game.
Witnessed it myself in Atlanta in Feb 2011 at a protest at the Capitol when only 10 people showed up outfitted as "patriots" and held at bay on a nearby corner. It was so poorly planned and organized they only elicited sympathy. The were older people that appeared to need the money to make ends meet. They didn't seem to want to be there.”

“Each and every Republican representative is merely taking their turn of stirring the pot of media, of using the diversion of their shell game while time is getting closer and secret money amassed for another bush to run. As more of the former Republican voters are driven away from the intentionally damaged party into the arms of the "rational and sane" (NOT!) new jebbers party. The grand ol' party has done everything it can to offer the worst example of representation it can all for making an alternative look palatable by contrast.
Meet the new bush same as the old bush.”

“Everyone pays, always have. My father was a physician, general practioner, with a private practice. The exception is, when he was practicing his patients didn't have to pay exorbitant prices for care because he contracted with an insurance corporation that set his fees, paid for malpractice insurance, sold him a management program and required he see a patient every 15 minutes plus told him how to keep THEIR costs low by what he prescribed. My father enjoyed being a doctor for different reasons than those of today, I suspect.”

“The regressive Republican Party has delayed our health care reform for 20 years. Remember Hillary's attempt. (It is so refreshing to have a president and an intelligent first lady in office again.)
The Republicans would rather cost the tax payers money and TIME like their governor friend in Florida that was head of health insurer that defrauded Medicare for millions of dollars.
But, hey, this is just another smoke screen like what they used to cover their quietly adding 39 riders to HR 2584 in July 2011 as a gift to their corporate donors.

“"Remember Hillary's attempt."

I actually do. It was done with the same hubris and push ... and it got stopped for those very reasons - no discussion with anyone - "we have it all right and you should just sign", no compromises. Shades of Godfather methods....

It behoves Americans on all sides to remember that one must convince the majority .. not lock Congresspeople into rooms, away from their constituents, until they have signed a law no one has read ... as Pelosi did too ... There will, rightfully in any Democracy, be push back in such cases.”

“At last, the tax payers will not have to pay the inflated hospital emergency room visits of the uninsured. At last, the medical billing frauds will be caught. At last the insurance companies will not be able to perpetuate their ruse of being an advocate in your PRIVATE health care and using all the information you told their CLERK that called you under the auspices of a "nurse" and then force the people that DO PAY TAXES to cover it while the insurance companies write it off as business related expenses.
Now insurance companies can not write off more than 20 percent of your healthcare costs towards their administrative costs.
Congratulations Anerica, you finally elected a decent man instead of a lobbyist controlled bot.”

“The illegal aliens won't be insured and will still be using the ER. Who told you the medical billing frauds would be caught? There is more fraud in Medicare than anywhere else and the government does not seem to care much about that. Our government is built on getting money from the PAC's for their personal use. Their families are paid out of campaign contributions and all this under the table stuff is okay since nothing is ever done about it. One congressman did bring the PAC thing up but couldn't get a second to get the bill going.”

Blondebabiee056 on Oct 22, 2013 at 16:09:21

“Correct - we are now redistributing tax dollars more efficiently to make sure those who do not carry insurance are now more directly helped - in essence, still paying for them, but adding to the rolls. Tell me, though, if the thing works as planned, what happens to the still 30 million who don't have insurance?”

“Gee, I suppose the physicians that signed on the dotted line of the insurance companies contracts promising to not treat anyone that could not pay the amount the insurance company set for each and every procedure, shot, visit, etc isn't working out so well since the physicians, in their fog of dreams of profits. Massive profits, failed to consider what happens when the economy slows and you don't a patient coming through in 15 minute clips.
Doctors have aided and abetted the insurance companies fraud. And now the insurance companies are spinning new contracts with new tales of enrichment.
Doctors should just think of how fortunate they were to get in on the Bush 90's Get Rich Quick schemes.

“I have witnessed this Republican based temper tantrum for years now. Long before the Affordable Health Care Act was PASSED my endocrinologist (who displays his family, southern background on his MEDICAL office walls) posted a prominent sign at his receptionist desk that he would no longer take Medicare. A little over a month ago I received a letter stating he could still be my doctor for a payment of $1,650 a year, which was to cover nothing but more time with him. Air. He is now switching to another "boutique" plan. His representative that called me explained I wouldn't need a primary care doctor and he could also be my primary care physician in addition to endocrinologist. (They have now become cannibals)
My father was a general practioner physician. He drove a very modest car made in Detroit. He liked to garden, raise German Shepherds, listen to classical music and treated everyone that crossed the threshold of his private practice. He never colluded with insurance companies trying satiate greed. He didn't need malpractice insurance and he was a graduate of Emory University Medical School. Doctors, many, are in medicine today for money and a thin veneer of status that is attached to the title. Maybe in a few decades the medical community will be back in their right mind. Until then, expect massive temper tantrums and "billing mistakes".”

Ingrid Lynch on Oct 22, 2013 at 14:56:04

“You are not alone. My intenrist after being my doctor for over 15 years, send me a letter and informing me of the changes in his practice. Yes, $ 1650 / year plus insurance is the rate if I continue to see him.
I shall remaind him of his Hypocratic oath. "First Do no harm". Hmm, or is it Hypocritic ? What about the love of medicine and to take care of the sick? Sad !”

gamberdm on Oct 22, 2013 at 14:48:26

“Your doctor did it then because Medicare pays under the amount of the cost of a visit. He is switching now, to something many physicians are doing; concierge medicine. ACA forced this to happen. If you had any idea how much government health care, for example, Medicaid, pays for a visit, you'd be shocked. My PC charges $75 a visit. My state subsidized health insurance only pays $47. My doctor has to write the rest off. He can only take so many patients with the coverage I have so that he can employ his office staff and pay all overhead.”

It is simply an ad campaign. I was paid over 40 years ago by an ad agency to walk down the sidewalk of Atlanta wearing a sandwich board for some fast food business. Not a bit different than tri-cornered hat wearing characters. They only attract non-thinking, simple people to continue to not think.”
