So you could also call it the 'SINGLE PAYER INTERNET'

Remember when some crazy biology professor wrote this book called The Population Bomb?
http://en. wikipedia. org/wiki/T he_Populat ion_Bomb
He said billions were going to starve and almost no one paid attention to him? Basically things still seemed okay in the USA at least.
Then remember this crazy president who said we needed "the moral equivalent of war" to solve the energy crisis? Basically we just elected another president who ripped the solar panels off the white house and everything was fine.
Then remember how the price of gas was sometimes under a dollar a gallon when the president before this one was elected? Basically i just sort of waited for the world to end as gas reached 2 bucks then 3 bucks then 4 bucks, but no one seemed to think that was why the housing bubble burst?
Well if you aren't aware of this history -You-are-D oomed-to-R epeat-It-. If you do remember it, but didn't figure it out, here's a little help:

“It's insanity: doing the same thing thinking there will be a different result. When the automakers starting marketing SUVs in the mid-90's, they forgot about how Japan kicked their ass in the mid and late 70's with fuel-efficient automobiles. Now GM, Chrysler, and Ford come begging for a handout when all this time they could have not made SUVs. Let's remember that GM made a very efficient car in the late 90's and early 2000's, the EV1, an all-electric car. Leased them out to Californians, and after five years, took them back and crushed them!”

I believe I might have a subject for you. This subject is avoided by Democrats and Republicans, this subject touchs every part of our lives, and I believe is the most important subject in the world. As you probably guessed from my name that subject is 'human biological carrying capacity'.
The economic problems the entire world faces would not be a problem if there were half as many people in the world as there are. The USA wouldn't need a million wind turbines for energy indepedence if there were only 150 million of us. Our greenhouse gas production would also be 50% less, as with our crime rate, our GPD, and our ability to wage war.
There is your subject 'How to humanely reduce world population, before nature does it for us', I know it might not seem like a way to follow the news of day(but it does), it might make a lot of news, but then that's what a democracy is for right? It might be news alot of people don't even want to hear since they have been avoiding the issue since Nelson Rockefeller wrote his report.

“The Real Joke here
Wait for it...... Way back in In 1798, Thomas Malthus published An Essay on the Principle of Population, his basic premise was the food production would never keep up with human population growth (back then the world population was less than a billion people) In 1968 When Paul Ehrlich wrote The Population Bomb he was predicting massive starvation (if memory serves) in twenty or thirty years.
Neither one of them said anything about the first signs of the massive die-off. The first signs are incredible disproportional distribution of wealth. As population increases the poor give more and more of their wealth to the few, of course most people just think the 'economy is growing' but actually the population growing is what is creating most of the wealth along with the depletion of resources at an increasing rate.
The fat cats on Wall Street wouldn't have had 18 billion in bonuses if that was the total wealth of the world..(li ke it was when the world population was much smaller). Isn't it great? This is one of the first indicators of the Apocalypse .....”

Peak Oil will bring about the return to local community. The world won't be 'insane' any longer, it will be out of oil. It won't be overpopulated any more, it will go back to being at the mercy of the weather.
You are correct of course, America became insane when we elected Ronald Regan. It was 'Morning in America' and 'Government was the problem'. We turned our backs on Energy Independence, Spending limits, and paying your fair share. We entered a world where the free market would cure everything, even Alzheimer's. [you do see the connection right?]
I'm not sure about the rest of the world being crazy, the British got out of Iraq. Or if it may sound to you like I'm insane, well maybe I'm just trying to squeeze all my thoughts into a small enough space worthy of being read, or maybe I'm just in a bad environment ;-)”

“We all die? Where did you get that from? It's not clear at all that the results will be worse than what we could do now with a trillion dollars to save people's lives. The IPCC is not predicting very large sea level changes any more. And in the other direction, if solar changes are the major driving factor, we might be in for major global cooling, and that would be a lot more devastating than global warming.
In this kind of case it would make sense to spend a lot of money now trying to get data that is reliable and computer models that can predict the past and the future reliably. With no preconceptions. Then we will be able to decide what to do in a sensible way, instead of running around in panic, and perhaps in the wrong direction.”

“Exactly right. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain from taking preventative measures to curb any potential global warming, even before the theory is proven or disproven.
I would add that when evaluating a scientific debate, it's useful to follow the money. Everyone who complains that gore has perpetrated a "hoax" has never explained what he could possibly gain from this "hoax." (he was already pretty darn famous and could have sold books on some other topic).
In contrast, those arguing that global warming is not caused by humans have a huge amount to gain: the oil and coal and automobile industries have some pretty serious money at risk in this debate. That doesn't mean that their arguments are wrong. But just as in a courtroom, in science we should discount the testimony of those who have an obvious and strong bias.”

“Fair point considering much of what can be done carries the benefit of reducing our dependency on fossil fuels. However, just to place the full cost of dealing with global warming Obama's new climate expert states that it will cost world wild 1/2 a trillion PER YEAR to meet his goal of limiting temperature rise to 1.2 degrees C by 2100.
As you said, this could be money well spent, but those who advocate this dramatic policy change should understand just how expensive it will be. As well, there are secondary effects of placing emission limits in countries such as India and China (assuming they agree to them) as, in both countries, there are significant populations that currently live without electricity. Them same goes for third world countries, where they will be prevented from accessing their cheap coal deposits for expensive wind and solar which can't support a developing industry, not just financial costs.
Living with electricity greatly extends ones life span. In other words, there will be human costs to an aggressive reduction of C02.”

“A Sad Truth seldom told.
It can also be said that to save the environment we don't need to save as many people. Harsh and cruel as it may sound when the availablity of ANY product goes up (be it humans or horse meat) the price goes down.
Think about this for just a second could we really have sex slaves if we only had a million people on earth, instead of 6.7 BILLION (as of Jan. 2009)?
I could be wrong but hear me out. For one thing the market wouldn't be there. If 3% of the population are sick preverted excuses for being human out of a million people that's what? 30,000 people? Out of 6.7 billion that's 201 million people!
A world of a million people would also have far fewer cities and far more extended families. Every person would be far more valuable to their loved ones, and there would be far less need to be sold into slavery. Because unemployment would not exist, anyone could be a farmer. There would also be available land to do that, sort of like the USA after the first settlers gave most of the Native Americans smallpox.
Well that's just crazy talk you might say we don't have a million people on Earth, no but we have a way to get there. We have birth control.”

11a. Create a blue ribbion committee to calculate the nation's "Human Carrying Capacity" Inform everyone what carrying capacity is and invite them to help calculate it. Teach Evolution in the public schools, so that even kids know what Carrying Capacity is about for humans as well as animals.
11b. Take the steps necessary to implement the calculation: free birth control, family planning courses in schools, explaining that this is a necessary first step so that our children and grand children do not have to suffer through what is occuring to us right now.
11c. Once we know how many people the USA can really support match sustainable energy to that number, consider solar power satellites to keep NASA actually helping to solve pratical problems, instead of things that might be useful in fifty years.
11d. Go party. You will have saved America for at least the next 100 years instead of maybe the next 10.”

“Oh wow I saw the word "overpopulation". Strange, the main article thinks this about the free market. Someone suggested we have 'overshot our carrying capacity', weird the main article didn't mention 'carrying capacity'.
No one explains Human Carrying Capacity. We have overshot it, but no one says how to calculate it. "How Many People Can the Earth Support?" said 'how many people you have, depends on what kind of lifestyle they want'.
The world can't support as many Americans as it can Bangladesh is.The trouble with 95% of the 'environmentalists' I've ever met is they will say everyone should get by on 3 handfuls of rice a day, when in truth, everyone should have birth control in their water supply, if people want a kid they should have to adopt one first!
If there were only a million people on earth it wouldn't matter if everyone had an SUV. However, with world population at 6.7 billion, (Jan. 2, 2009) we don't have that option. We can look back to a world of 6 billion (Oct. 1999) and wonder why we are adding a billion people every 13 years, but you know the answer to that.
No one is paying attention. Because you can't sell the news that we have too many kids when Brad and Angie 'true environmentalists' just got pregers again.”

The article clearly said 1 birth every 8 seconds one death every 12 seconds, and 1 immigrant every 36 seconds so every 72 seconds = 9 births, 6 deaths and 2 people changing their home country.
It also means American population increase is 60% from Americans.
Also if memory serves 50% of those are unplanned. It's nice to know that with Global Warming, the money mess, Peak Oil, and Evolution not the majority opinion of how people came to be, people still think we can grow our way out of all this. That is if they are thinking at all.......”

This guy's arguments are about 200 years old. I think I first saw this about 20 years ago. [ The Story of B by Daniel Quinn]
The argument : There is no WORLD population problem, there are 195 NATIONAL population problems. I say EVERY CITY has a population problem.
Birth control in the drinking water will not solve this. Stopping the high rise from being built one block from you will. Everyone needs to agree how many people their town needs. Every man, woman, & and child has to understand what 'Human Biological Carrying Capacity' is.
Has any city on Earth done this? (perhaps a few have, but they seem to overturn the rules later) People seem to do better when they can actually see the effects of their actions, so when have you seen results from the World Population Fund?
Every government I know of has an Office of Growth, named the Office of the Treasury, Regional Planning, or the Zoning Board. I have NEVER heard of a Governmental Sustainability Council [Well, Clinton had one, but he never gave them any money,]
Show me a city that wants to stay the same size, wants their tax base never to grow, thinks that they can't GROW their way out of any problem, and I'll show you a city about a million people want to move to ....
And that my friend IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM.”

“Yes you can deal with it at the local level....a t least in this country... .People do it every day it's called ZONING.
People already have laws on the books that limit crowding to one house per 5 acres (most of the time that's so a septic tank will work) of course local sewers make it so houses can be bunched together and a local sewerage treatment plant has to be built. Then people get UPZONED.
As for cities being the most environmentally friendly, that is EXACTLY the kind of talk that got us into this mess. Cities LOOK clean because they ship all their garbage AWAY. Massive garbage dumps are in the middle of the ocean because that's were the tugboats PUT IT.
With this amount of MISINFORMATION around is it any wonder why we can't/won't/don't talk about FAMILY PLANNING?”

“This isn't a problem that should be dealt with on a municipal level. You can't just decide how many people you want in your town. Big cities attract people. If they can't live in them, they live around them. Then you have expanding suburbs and urban sprawl, which means more people driving into the city each day. more carbon emissions, and more farm land eaten up. The land around Toronto, for example, is the most fertile in Canada, but it's being built over by subdivisions. I'd much rather the city grow upward than outward.”

“Large cities are the ecologically least problematic areas on this planet. Per capita they use the least energy and generate the least waste. The real whoppers are land use in agricultural areas and areas with poor populations which have extremely poor survival strategies.
I know that's counter-intuitive but if you look at the real data, that's what it is.”

“There can be no permanent progress in the battle against hunger until the agencies that fight for increased food production and those that fight for population control unite in a common effort. Fighting alone, they may win temporary skirmishes, but united they can win a decisive and lasting victory to provide food and other amenities of a progressive civilization for the benefit of all mankind.

There's what 'the father of the green revolution' said in his nobel appectance speech. Weird. Sounds like he really thought human overpopulation was a problem.”

“Hmm.....
So that's the ticket? everyone has gotten their very own GROUP? I guess that means I have to add one....
CLUB OF ROME GROUP
They wrote 'The Limits to Growth' back in the '70s and everyone told them they were crazy. OVERPOPULATION couldn't possibly be a problem. GAS RATIONING now is not necessary. Let's wait till gas is $20 a gallon before we start that.
Every 'environmentalist' that has more that 2 kids should lose their SUV. In fact you could solve this problem real easy.....
Every Family in America could do this:
if they have no kids they can have 2 cars
one kid one car
2 or more kids no car.
See there are solutions. It's just that no one has the guts to actually tell you what they are, except of course for me, because I don't count :-)”

“The Club of Rome's "Limits to Growth", just like Ehrlich's "Population Bomb" were totally wrong in what they predicted. As is usually the case, human technology, innovation and the "green revolution" made up for the rise in population. That is the civilized human response to such things, not the animistic, superstitious Gaia religion.
Oh, and by the way, America is still a democratic republic with a constitution and founding principles which are still valid and which generally preclude a totalitarian government from dictating to families the number and spacing of children. How is this squared with "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"?
I have nothing against those people who work for a cleaner environment. I detest and oppose the Malthusian eco-fascists. Guess what? Most of the sane regimes on the planet will continue to put people first, not polar bears. And that is just the way it should be. For every eco-fascist, there are hundreds of people in the Third World who yearn for the chance at a better life through access to electricity, basic sanitation, nutrition, and education, all of which can be achieved through economic development and progress, who no doubt are part of the "surplus population".”

Better followers make better republicans. That is what we are trying for right? [better followers also make better customers]”

“Next week we will have an alternative to mathematic s...
Next month we will give all classes in Spanish so kids can decide for themselves which language they like better.
Next year we will discuss the alternative to reason, it's called emotion and it's been working the on the genus Homo for about a billion years (that's right, BEFORE genus Homo evolved).
One could expect it would be rather hard to kill off, but global warming could it, that way humans wouldn't even have to admit they have been over the human biological carrying capacity of the planet for at least the last twenty years.”
