“Pot calls kettle black. Indulgences from Pope Rupert give the right the right to hypocritical hyperbole.”

“Skeetshooter, I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments but fault your argument. I also thought of the pot and kettle cliché but the problem with it is that it is saying AND granting both sides ARE THE SAME which is overgeneralized. Is that what you mean to say? If so, why?
I think this example will serve the point well. When Galileo criticized, with contempt, the mathematicians of Pisa for refusing to look through his telescope they criticized him as well. Both sides were academics, both had authority, both were doing the same thing in terms of being critical however, it was not the pot calling the kettle black. One was criticizing legitimately the refusal to look at facts and the others were defending prejudice, their positions and reputation. Both were critical but only one of them was correct. Galileo was also the one who was considered quite arrogant and rude. Perhaps elite would have been a better adjective.
My example also warrants another observation. Regardless of Galileo abjuring himself under threat of torture to spend the rest of his life imprisoned for stating observable facts the church still wanted their seafaring captain's to use Galileo's maps to navigate by because they were better.”

“We encourage children to imagine a world of Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy, and other things that do not and never will exist, but shudder at the thought of them exercising their curiosity about reality. A world where all people are equal under the law? That, more than the end of the world, the danger of guns, and the upcoming anxieties of puberty, is a bridge too far. Is it any wonder kids feel lied to and cheated by the time they're teenagers?”

Now, as an adult I see a very different reality: the human race is racing toward its own destruction by greed, zealotry, and Ignorance. all technology seems to have done is raise the speed limit toward the precipice.”

Hugh Grant Was Drunk When He Bought Warhol That Made Him Rich

“Hugh Grant has been blessed to an embarrassing degree with charm, beauty and, apparently, drunken good luck. His tryst a few years ago, with a Hollywood hooker down the street from my house left me wondering how many of those condoms I've cleaned out of the gutter were his. The Irrefutable Stupidity of Sarah Palin
Commented Dec 08, 2009 at 14:11:12 in Politics
“Yes, I admit it: Liberals are a little afraid of her electability. -But only to the extent that we mistrust the electorate.
The utterly smug and complacent mediocrity of the GOP has taken them farther than any rational intelligent person could have predicted, until one factors in the malevolent genius of fear mongering, wedge issues, cuts in educational funding and supression of the minority vote by status quo conservatives who deny the effectiveness of government while running for the jobs they don't intend to do.
In Palin we see more of the same, only worse. We see the possible high schoolization of our federal government, where a short skirt, a smirk and a wink and a couple pom poms, can take you all the way to the top. If you're going to be afraid of anything, America, be afraid of this.”

Aetna Forcing 600,000-Plus To Lose Coverage In Effort To Raise Profits
Commented Dec 04, 2009 at 20:38:29 in Business
“How can we pretend to be surprised? We've already seen from the town hall meetings that getting serious about health care cost controls creates a sense of scarcity. Only to untra conservatives does it come as revelation that the same base side of human nature shows up in corporate behavior. Just as consumers hoarded toilet paper the moment a shortage was detected, rushed to get flu vaccine they were not entitled to, and rushed to exclude illegal aliens, the same lemming effect is driving profit driven companies to pad or guarantee their profits in anticipation of scarcity. Unfortunately, no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.
