“Just saw George Steppy on GMA refer to Obama as a liberal. No one but a corporate propagandist could possibly see Obama as liberal. The only legitimate debate regarding Obama's political leanings is how far right of center is he. He seems to come down somewhere between GWB and SP, depending the the particular issue.”

PartyofLogic replied on Dec 11, 2009 at 08:56:03

“Obama was always a centrist, a moderate Democrat. Progressives were not listening.”

“While I agree his is not the flaming socialist/communist that the teabaggers characterize him as, I disagree that he's as far to the right as either GWB and SP. Barry Goldwater wasn't as far to the right as Sarah Palin.”

smpj replied on Dec 11, 2009 at 08:37:02

“Wow! How the mighty have fallen. But Obama's apparent move toward the center was a necessary reflex. Farther left to many here was the expectation. And he tried that. No cigar. Too many oppose him now - and that number seems to be slowly but consistently growing . All the polls reveal that. This fact cannot be lost upon the President and his advisors. Clinton shifted a little right and it saved his Presidency. But too he could be a personally likeable, jovial, one of us kind of guy. Obama seems instead to see himself as looking down upon us from his perch on high. I doubt that lofty position will wear as well over time as Bubba's aw shucks one did.”

overpopulation and over consumption (growth)

“Anything other than a single payer health care system that covers everyone is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Our current system is a national disgrace. Greedy insurance companies siphoning off huge chunks of out health care dollars then denying care every chance the get. What right do we have to lecture other countries on human rights when we have such an inhuman health care system.”

“One has to give Obama credit for courage in going before this audience, but one has to question his judgement. He was not going to win any votes. These are hard core republicans. Voting for a democrat is not in their dna. This was a lose lose situations for him. This election is Obama's to lose and a few more performances like this one and he may just manage to lose it.”

NeoLiberal replied on Aug 19, 2008 at 09:40:07

“Unlike Bush/Cheney/McCain, who filter their audiences for supporters only, Obama welcomes everyone. Differing opinions and beliefs and backgrounds.

I wonder how "courageous" McCain would be if he decided to appear at an American Muslim group to explain his positions on the Middle East and against TSA profiling or government fearmongering?”

“Obama, rushing to the right, has passed McSame, rushing to the center, like two trains in the night. It's interesting to note that Obama's approximately 15% lead over McSame has completely vanished with his rightward move. Democrats seem to think that the way to defeat repubs in to be more like them. It's never worked and it won't work this time. Obama has said "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result." In view of his recognition of this fact it's hard to comprehend his doing the same thing that has cost dems numerous elections in the past.”

Hillary has worked 35 years for the good of the party starting with the McGovern campaign in Texas. Why should she let go? She deserves to fight as hard as she can. “You're right, Clinton is a bright mind and sharp tool for corporate america. Most people are interested in a president who will represent the middle class and working poor, someone who will create a single payer health care system, someone who will make college available to the middle class and working poor. Since Edwards dropped out, I don't see anyone taking up these causes.”
