Rep. Hinchey: Bush Administration 'Intentionally Let bin Laden Get Away' In Order To Justify Iraq War
Commented Nov 30, 2009 at 23:59:53 in New York
“The fact that the Bush family has been buddy-buddy with the bin Laden family for years, the same family that Osama bin Laden was kicked out of, and the fact that our military and intelligence organizations used to support Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan, leaves the door wide open for all sorts of conjectures and possibilities.
It seems not even Bush could be so stupid as to deliberately let bin Laden escape. On the other hand, our satellites can read car license plates.
It seems impossible that our intellegence people have not known where bin Laden is all along. How do you hide a 6-foot, 5" man who is on dialysis. It just makes no sense at all.”

“Ratings are an unscientific measurment too used to sell out a finite amount of advertising time at the highest possible price.
A second use for ratings is to create media hype.
Ratings use weighted averages. They take answers from a very small segment of the population and spread them over the entire population, as if the entire population is bunch of robots doing exactly the same thing. It's ludicrous.
Ratings establish a baseline for establishing advertising rates.
Outside of that, ratings mean nothing.”

“Hate? The right sure loves to throw that word around.
It's impossible to hate something you don't care about. If half of U.S. adults don't vote, even if Hannity brough 100% of his 4.2 million viewers to the polls, it would still represent less than 4% of the U.S. voting public. Try winning an election on that. What a joke!”

“The U.S. has a population of 217.8 million people age 18 and above. At 4.200 million viewers, Hannity reaches 1.9% of America's adults. O'Reilly reaches fewer. It's laughable. These people think they are kings of the broadcast universe when, in fact, they are big nothings who play the game of 'let's say controversial things and make people argue' for the sake of ratings. They claim to be number one in cable. Go ahead. It's still a crappy number one.”

“No thanks. Bias and hate are products of manipulative, non-intellectual thinking. I'll leave this to Fox.
Have you ever worked in media? (crickets) Didn't think so. Ratings are based on share of audience (universe ... in this case, the U.S.). Fox may have high share ratings compared to other single cable outlets, but they don't have high ratings when you look at the entire viewer universe and compare them to all other mediums. Good ratings would be in th 20% to 50% coverage area. Fox would like people to believe they have this type of rating, but they don't.
There are 217.8 million adults in the U.S. , meaning Fox reaches 1.9% of U.S. adults. Their numbers are a joke and it makes me laugh.”

Again, Fox has extremely high ratings for the segment(s) in question. This is indisputable. But sure, go on pretending no one watches Fox. I am not commenting about their content, it's intellectual prowess or lack thereof, or even it's accuracy or inaccuracy. I am simply pointing to the obvious which you seem unable to do. You would rather argue against fact because you don't like the network.
Fox has high ratings. No one with any common sense would argue otherwise. You can absolutely hate the network and everything it stands for and still recognize this fact.”

“Of course the LimbO'ReillyBeckHanFox spin machine will dumb America down again by calling this FASCISM, when, in reality, LimbO'ReillyBeckHanFox and the tea-bagging GOPers demonstrate they are indeed the type of people who first created facsism (19th century Europe) by massing middle classes and the petty bourgeoisie through the exploitation of fear (now through advertising, too).
Forerunners of fascism, such as Georges Boulanger in France and Adolf Stöker and Karl Lueger in Germany and Austria, in their efforts to gain political power, appealed to nationalist sentiments and prejudices, exploited anti-Semitism and portrayed themselves as champions of law, order, Christian morality and the sanctity of private property.
This sure sounds like a description of the right wingers to me!”
