First, it's not "us" (whoever that may be) who sentence her to jail but Italian courts. Being jailed in a foreign country is nothing desirable, of course, but Italian jails in general don't have a reputation of being anywhere close to the brutality in many US prisons. Italy may also decide to send her over to the States, which would allow her to serve her time in a prison close to her family.

Travel to Perugia and ask for the court records. Easy. Otherwise, you can "want" whatever you like and hold your breath until you're blue in the face. It was and still is an Italian trial, so unless you are a lawyer for Ms. Knox, what you "want" is irrelevant.

2) Just because "jury" doesn't mean the same in Italy and the US (google for "Corte d'Assise") it would have been "thrown out"? By whom?

3) Read about questionable US prosecutors (the US record for prosecutors in some states is abysmal, believe me). That doesn't mean I like the prosecutor in Italy, but he wasn't the only one responsible for the indictment.

Finally, the legal process is far from over. Ms. Knox's lawyers can appeal up to the European Court for Human Rights, and legal fees in Europe are _much_ lower than in the US.”
