“Now we know why Palin resigned--she needed more time to duke it out with the media. I am no fan of the msm; however me thinks that Palin cannot expect pure adoration when she's slinging shots across the bow left and right. In addition, how can you NOT expect that EVERY aspect of your financial and moral life will come under scrutiny--isn't it part of the national political scene? I don't necessarily agree with it, but this is no arena for a cat fight.
Plalin, stop flailin. Retreat, reflect, regroup, re-evaluate your priorities--WHAT MATTERS TO YOU MOST? Being popular or being true to your inner values? I'm in no position to give advice, but as a woman of faith, I would argue that solitude is a worthy teacher as is the adoring love of a child.”

So here is my take, let's just extrapolate this out to a Presidency--gawd forbid--she gets a bee in her bonnet and she just turns over the presidency of the United States to the VP?
This is a concrete example of her ADMINISRATIVE LEADERSHIP!!
Pay attention America.
Also, didn't it sound like she was saying that she is leaving the governorship to protect Alaska from HER? This is probably the wisest decision of her career.
Wow.”

I think that we are being ripped off. 24 hour news cycle indeed.
Seldom do I see objectivity and courage when it comes to political news, international news, or national news, other than some of our foreign correspondents who are in the field.
Everything is canned. Each station says the same thing. They try do give the illusion of diversity by having faux, m.s.n.b.c. but if you get past their particular brand of snear you see that they are basically saying the same thing. They are dancing to their corporate puppet masters just like most of our politicians.
This makes me angry, makes me indignant....in the end it makes me weary.”

“I patently object to Democrats feasting on this man's affair. We all have feet of clay and to indulge the "fIies on p00p" media is appalling. However with that being said, we do need to call out the hy.pocrisy of politicizing morality and even politicizing G.od. We are all a bit sick and tired of the "Holier than thou" political stance of the Republican Party.
A tree will be known by its fruit, we all have feet of clay, and we should treat others the way we would want to be treated--what a world we would live in if we lived by those principles. We would make wiser choices, be humble in our cogent compassion, and restore people and forgive people who changed their ways.
The real crime with this story is that it is bumping the horrid human rights violations going on in Iran. I hope the media will get back to joining with the rest of the world and applying pressure on the Iranian government to give the people a fair vote. If they stopped the violence and gave them a legitimate vote, the protests would stop.
Yes, the gossipy titillation of a fallen politician is great media fodder; however there are far greater fish to fry in the realm of moral injustice than a personal affair. Let's back off and refocus out of dignity to not only Sanford's wife and family, but the Iranian citizens who should have the world's focus.”

HuffPost's Katharine Zaleski Weighs In On Palin/Letterman Feud On MSNBC
Commented Jun 13, 2009 at 02:49:15 in Media
“You know, it was a tasteless joke and Letterman is getting hit for making jokes about someones young daughter. Even if she is 18 or even if she does "trot her out" it was still in poor taste and there are consequences for that. Especially when you joke about a Palin kid! You know that Sarah is a media hound, trying to stay in the news until 2012. I don't see anything surprising about this at all. It is nice that Letterman tried to apologize, but he walked into a minefield.
I think that Zelaski did the best she could with the hand she was delt, but come on, don't we have better things to do than defend Letterman's crude joke.
Connecting that to the museum tragedy is like apples and oranges. We're talking a late night satirist telling a bad joke and comparing it to a mentally ill rightwinger. Not the same at all. I think it weakens our argument against h@te speech to link the two.”

“The point was, SouthPrairie, that if Sarah Palin is so concerned about this "ugly" language and such, she should examine or answer for her own wing's rhetoric. It is then stated that, if you are making such a big deal about a joke, why do you not show similar outrage over Beck/Limbaugh/Hannity's provocative, unchallenged rants that could have contributed to the recent shooting.
To your other point, I say, fair enough. If we will not allow them to make fun of Chelsea Clinton in her adulthood, let us be the bigger persons and not make fun of Bristol, at least with sexual jokes. The mockery of Sarah Palin herself, however, I fully encourage.”

And in spite of all these feelings, I cannot help but feel as though I should pity this man—as I am a woman of faith. I see his life coming to the sad and impotent end of a played out despot. And still, people believe him. A tree will be known by its fruit. When will religious people realize the truth? Though we must defend, cannot hate for God, and torture for freedom.
You gain the world but lose your soul.
When will the despots of the world unclench their fists?”

“When I think of his off handed remarks that represent a finger in America’s eye, (so), I realize that he lied to us from the very beginning. He never intended to protect the Constitution. He only intended to protect his own greedy interests. He never venerated or beloved soldiers, he only viewed them as pawns in his game of no-contract fleecing. He never understood the patriot premise of, “Give me liberty or give me death!” He only reacted to danger—fleeing fearfully, as he colluded as to how he could use America’s tragic moment—the highlight of his career—to advance his coffers and political clout. He never comprehended the fact that he was OUR servant and he was to do our bidding. And ever since America has elected a TRUE SERVANT to the American people, he has menaced, maligned, and maliciously demeaned America’s best hope to clean up his inhumane legacy.”

I'm so sorry that we lost this young treasure to yet another chapter in America's shame.
The good thing is that they only had 8 years to swell their abcess of evil, and now America can reflect and heal, like we have so many times before. For we have always had voices of reason among us, that have an ethos of understanding that the end does not justify the means. What good is it if we gain the world, but lose our soul.
