“The "no new taxes pledge" has always been nothing more than a smokescreen to give more and more breaks to the wealthy and to corporations. How can even the most dense among us not recognize that you cannot keep tax rates at their artificially low rates when the cost of everything has increased. Americans must wake up to the facts that we have a crumbling infrastructure, failing education system and an aging population. We cannot sustain a successful society if we continue to say that a CEO making $12M annually and a corporation with revenues in excess of $5B will pay less toward maintaining our society than an individual who makes $50K. There is no argument that will make this system sustainable because it is not based on any real facts or logic.”

“And have you noticed when the rich are supposed to pay more taxes their messages in the media always includes the middle class that our taxes will go up, sign this petition, etc. and so many people fall for this.”

“If your daddy were paying for your college, your Porsche, your off-campus apartment, giving you a whole wardrobe, and a huge party-money allowance, would you report him for, say........selling
drugs (for example)?
“Just when I thought Jamie Dimon was moving away from the title "World's biggest d@bag" he continues speaking and proves me wrong. The Basel III requirements are a direct result of the criminal acts of Jamie & Friends. The rules which require that essentially banks gamble with their own money instead of using taxpayer backed funds are mild compared to the reform that is actually needed to prevent another meltdown. Still he whines and cries about the unfairness of it all. If the financial regulators do not step in and reign in their fraudulent behaviour we will have a true worldwide depression in months not years that will truly create a permanent feudal class.”
“There has to be a line in the sand. If the Democrats want to win in 2012 they had better get behind the American people who are saying loud & clear that the Republican plan to give even more to corporations and the top 1% is ridiculous. Don't give in. I would rather the government shutdown right now than see the GOP's version of the budget be allowed to pass.”
“Thomas, Scalia and Alito have been bought and paid for so it is no wonder that their decisions are so arbitrary and disgusting. How can we teach our children to respect our Nation's laws when the Supreme Court says violators will not be punished and the innocent will?”
“Even the premise of this article is faulty. None of these companies can save the American economy because none of them have an incentive to do so. Our legislators have made it more beneficial for companies to spend millions on political contributions and millions more getting around existing tax laws than to spend one dime on hiring Americans. Until campaign finance and tax laws are changed, no one can save the American economy.”
“Imagine what would happen if politicians (Democrats and Republicans) actually gave a damn about the people they were elected to represent instead of pandering to corporations & their own interests! It's time for a wake up call.
Wealth without Work
Pleasure without Conscience
Science without Humanity
Knowledge without Character
Politics without Principle
Commerce without Morality
Worship without Sacrifice”
“The Democrats need to push back and for a change push back hard! Tell the GOP that as soon as they give up the tax breaks that they blackmailed the US to get, cut farm and big oil tax subsidiaries and agree to stop corporate welfare...then maybe someone would be willing to listen to something they might have to say. If the Democrats won't fight now...then when will they?”

“The dems will fight back when they get some leadership with spine. The gang we've got right now are a pack of wimps--they run every time the Tbaggers yell. Then the Dems offer some 'bilateral' compromise, which gives the Tbags what they wanted. Sell us out every chance they get. I'm angry but if you work for a salary or pay check, there is not longer a way out.”
“Once again the puritanical double-standard that applies to woman is alive and well. Ms. Myers did not break any laws. She is, according to all reports, an excellent teacher. So unless we plan to put a morals clause into every hiring decision, let the woman do what she has trained to do...teach.”

“Find a man who was in porn and is a teacher now.
This isn't a gender issue. But nice try.
She doesn't belong around other people's children. She doesn't belong playing a large role in children's lives.
“The redesign is a good start but Ebony needs a great deal more effort to become relevant again. Like Essence, Ebony needs to focus less on celebrity culture and more on aspirational/educational topics. Years ago, Ebony was a magazine that profiled community leaders, doctors, educators and the like as well as the prerequisite celebrity profile. It wasn't perfect but it did show African-Americans (adults & children) that they could succeed in other ways than through musical or athletic ability.”

“I agree. I still subscribe to Essence but read them online and have them on my Facebook.
If you look through Google books and read Ebony articles pre-1990's, the articles were much better.”
“Oh John...the people are starting to understand just how big the problem is...so the people would really like you to start cutting those entitlements to the rich. Please make sure that you renounce those tax cuts that you blackmailed the Democrats to get for your buddies.”
“It would be more helpful if they formed a group to "GROW REVENUE". Why is it so difficult for the Democrats to understand that growing revenue creates jobs...not spending cuts!”

“They aren't Democrats. Just as the GOP is no longer a political party. These are groups of corporate owned thugs, passing laws to make their stealing "legal". Just as George W. Bush got his hand sock puppet lawyers to say he could torture "legally". We are no longer a democracy. Welcome to a plantation called Plutocracy...”

“Raising taxes does create jobs. We give all our money to the government and then they invent jobs to pay us for. It's called "we pretend to work, they pretend to pay us".”

“They've partaken of the trickle-down, free-trade kool-aide.”
“The American public's never ending thirst for the Wal-Mart mantra "Always low prices, always" combined with the corporate mindset of "profit-at-any-cost" has led to an environment where "Made in America" is a nearly impossible concept. Corporations refuse to invest in the future, cut corners and outsource jobs in an attempt to save a few pennies while our own Government (State, Local & Federal) cut spending on education while handing out tax breaks to corporations and the wealthy. Why is anyone surprised that we are in a financial crisis--we don't make anything except consumers. America continues to cut its own throat by our actions and our votes. The 2010 mid-terms largely rewarded the party of deregulation and corporate toadyism and despite the protests in Wisconsin it appears we still haven't learned from our mistakes. We need to start asking how to "grow revenue" not "cut spending". Revenue initiatives will create jobs, spending cuts just hurt the poor and the struggling.”
“Newt & Rick will be on the network more than ever before! This ploy is yet another attempt to show FOX as an "impartial--fair & balanced" news source and unfortunately the rest of the media will play right into their hands. Now that Newt & Rick have had their contracts suspended they will be free to be "interviewed" by all the other networks who will give their candidacies credibility.”

“What is truly perplexing about this statement is that she was allowed to spew such insanity without anyone calling her out on the hypocrisy of it! I am so sick of the media allowing these governors and pundits to make outrageous statements without any challenge whatsoever. No wonder this Country is disintegrating before our very eyes.”
